Department of Electrical Engineering

Features
The department of electrical engineering is the most popular academic program in the engineering field. It offers programs leading to a bachelor of science (BS), and master of science (MS) degree. In recent years, in order to promote the fields of teaching and research, the department has developed a comprehensive curriculum program. In addition to elementary courses on electrical engineering, advanced courses are provided to cover power systems, computer engineering, automatic control, electro-optical engineering, communication systems, and artificial intelligence. The department aims to educate prospective outstanding electrical engineers and focuses on both theoretical knowledge and practical experience. Graduates of the department are cordially welcome by the academy and industry and have achieved much success in every area.

Research Directions
Research-wise, faculty interests in the department can be divided into three groups: power electronics, computer and communication engineering, and automatic control. Our MS courses focus on the design of DSP chips, advanced power electronics, image processing, computer science, control theory, and artificial intelligence. Interdisciplinary research is strongly encouraged and supported by the department. The main contents for each research group are as follows:

1. Power Electronics:
The aim of this group is to research high efficiency power converters, motor drives, DSP chips, and FPGA for power electronics.

2. Computer and Communication Engineering:

The scope of research covers computer architecture, internet networks, network security, and multimedia communication.

3. Automatic Control:
Research includes control engineering, automatic systems, fuzzy logic, and neural networks. Based on modern control theory, innovative artificial intelligence systems are developed and implemented.
