00 Number of Recipients: 1 Basic requirements: Student must be a high school senior or recent High School graduate (with in last 2 years) at the time of application. attend or plan to attend a Maricopa Community College in Maricopa County, Arizona and be willing to provide proof of registration. have chosen a public service career in one of the following fields as direction of study. Education & Teaching Social Work Behavioral Health Community Health Worker Criminal Justice Fire Fighter/EMT/Paramedic Volunteer Coordination Non Profit Management

write a 400 to 600 word essay on the topic of teen dating violence. write a 400 to 600 word essay explaining: o applicants need for the scholarship o educational goals in public service o what have you done to further your educational goals and how will this scholarship help you attain those goals o volunteer experience. complete and attach an application form. provide High School transcript. have a GPA of at least 3.0. submit a minimum of two (2) letters of recommendation but no more than three (3). o 1 letter- must be from a personal perspective o 1 letter- must be from an academic perspective

Each student may only apply once a cycle for said scholarship

Scholarship open date: February 1 annually Scholarship deadline for submission: May 1 annually Winner of Scholarship will be informed by no later than June 15th.

The scholarship recipient and parents will be guests of Kaitys Way to the Kaitys Way annual Signature event, Celebrities/Heroes Step Against Teen Dating Violence, held in July where a formal announcement will take place. The winning recipient of this scholarship will be required to volunteer at least 10 hours to include planning and attending the Kaitys Way annual Signature event, Celebrities/Heroes Step Against Teen Dating Violence, held in July.

Judging of the essays will be based on the following criteria: Each essay must reflect the student's own research, writing and original thinking. Essays are required to be at least 400 words but no more than 600 and must be typed within the following criteria o 12 point font o Arial or Calibri style of type o Double spaced

Scholarship will be paid directly to the Maricopa Community College of the recipient students choice. All submissions should be post marked by May 1, 2013 and sent to: Kaitys Way P.O. Box 83494 Phoenix, Az 85071

Any submissions received with a post mark later than May 1, 2013 will not be considered.
Please note, Kaitys Way employees and their families, Board members and their families, volunteers and their families are not eligible to apply for this scholarship.
