SAFETY REQUIREMENTS 1. Correct voltage range should be selected. 2. Winding under test should be thoroughly discharged after test by shorting it to earth. 3. Bushings should be clean and free from dust.

INSTRUCTIONS The insulation resistance is measured by means of an insulation resistance meter of a voltage 1000V dc or 5000V dc. Each winding is measured separately by connecting the
voltage between the winding to be tested and earth. During this test the body of the transformer is completely earthed with the earthing terminal. The resistance reading at 15 sec and 60 sec is taken after connecting the voltage between: i) Insulation Resistance between HV-LV. ii) Insulation Resistance between HV- Earth. iii) Insulation Resistance between LV- Earth. Furthermore, the ratio of the insulation resistance R60 to the insulation resistance R15 gives the absorption ratio of the winding which should be greater than 1.2. For comparison R60 / R15 = 1.2 @ 20 C may be considered
