Quote: Theme: Logo: Ritual: Scripture: Prayer song: Instruction:

Prayer Service on CUT - Value of Discipline and Right Choices Discipline is just a choice between what you want now & what you want most Life is 10% of what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it (John Maxwell) The choices you make in life will make your life. ANTS for amazing Discipline & Unity My son, do not despise the LORDs discipline.(Proverbs 3:11-12) Choices for Life - http://youtu.be/zRZHKNHoRfc Preferably hold the prayer service in the class room with prior preparation and active involvement / participation of all the students after the lesson on CUT. Have a devotional / classical music played to create a prayerful atmosphere. Introduction: (Keep a Candle / Lamp lighted throughout the prayer service.) Leader: Let us take an attentive posture and be relaxed breathing in Gods presence. (silent pause..) We are on a journey of building a new humanity through 12 diamond values. The theme of this prayer service is CUT quality in a Diamond. A well cut diamond will sparkle and dazzle. A diamond's cut is determined by the symmetry of the stone's facets, its overall proportions, and its ability to reflect light as if from the very heart of a diamond. The cut is the ultimate expression of a craftsmans skill in transforming a rough diamond into a visually stunning polished gem. The Diamond is perfected by the Ideal CUT to show it in its best light and harness the internal fire and brilliance which requires careful discipline. Reader 1: Discipline is a factor in life, which makes for all progress, happiness and harmony. Discipline must be learned and built into our lives as a priority for personal development for "he who lives without discipline dies without honor." Self Discipline is being able to do what you should and stop doing what you shouldnt. Self-Discipline for self-control is the best super-power one can have for discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment (Jim John). Aim of education is to discipline the mind to the use of its own powers in an environment of responsible freedom.

"Discipline is the soul of an army. It makes small numbers formidable." (George Washington) Success is discipline based on meticulous attention to details as every moment is counted and every step measured to fine tune specific skills to precision and perfection. Many social skills such as listening & communication skills, conflict & anger management skills require selfcontrol. Host of activities as morning routines, daily chores and family schedules are occasions to learn responsibility. Mind and learning skills in academics, mathematics, fine art, music, team sports, gymnastics to memory games / quotes / tables etc., build self-discipline

Discipline is wisdom and vice versa.(M. Scott Peck). Discipline is never about shame, punishment, power or control because that's not how God disciplines us. Discipline is a necessary ingredient guided by conscience, to be in harmony with what God most wants for us. We seek and pray that the practice of discipline is never exclusively about conforming to rules but always the attitude of the heart in commitment to values. Reader 2: Ritual: ANTS Ants the tiniest insects are known for their amazing sense of discipline and social unity. They move in order without clash or error or mishap. Ants figure out the shortest distance, despite the obstacles and stride in columns like disciplined legions without a supervisor to direct their move thus inspiring traffic discipline. Ants collectively agree and evolve the network of trails forming the traffic rules to follow; outwards from their nests and inwards as they return with food, to avoid traffic jam and collision adjusting their speed at crowding. Ants teach us humans on how to conduct ourselves in queues or drive on the roads. Ants are frugal in handling the resources of nature adeptly, build and defend anthills, motivating us to learn from nature. Ants wisdom to work in diligence reproaches man for his lazy procrastinating way of life. You idler, go to the ant, watch her ways and be wise. She has no master, no steward or overseer; she secures food in summer and stores up provisions during harvest time.(Proverbs 6: 6-8). The ant is praised by God as the supreme example of industry and discipline. Discipline is a choice, a conviction and a commitment Reader3: Life is about choices and most of them are made for us as we did not choose when, where and to whom we were born. From the instant we are born, the journey of our life is filled with twists & turns, ups & downs, challenges & opportunities of life. It is the daily choices we make and how we view the world around us that decide how our life will turn out, for a negative thinker sees a difficulty in every opportunity while a positive thinker sees an opportunity in every difficulty. Life is 10% of what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it (John Maxwell). There are two primary choices in life: to accept conditions as they exist or accept responsibility for changing them (D.Waitley) for the difference between stumbling blocks and steppingstones is the way in which we use them. One must make a choice to take a chance or one will never change. At the end of life what will matter is significance not success, character not competence; what will matter is every act of compassion, courage, integrity and sacrifice that enrich, empower or encourage others to emulate a life that counts. (Michael Josephson). Scripture Reading: Reader 4: The Book of Proverbs Chapter 3 verses 11 to 12 reads My son, do not despise the LORD's discipline and do not resent his rebuke, because the LORD disciplines those he loves, as a father the son he delights in. The spiritual discipline needed in our lives comes from within "discipline yourself for the purpose of godliness" (I Tim. 4/7). God does not discipline to subdue us, but to condition us for a life of efficacy and blessing (Billy Graham). We call the Creator father, because we rely upon Him to protect, guide, provide, defend and above all discipline us. The goal of God's discipline is restoration and never condemnation. The practice of "time-in" is a reminder of God's discipline

of those he loves. No discipline seems pleasant at the time; Later on however, it produces a harvest of righteousness & peace for those who have been trained by it. (Heb.12:11). Teach us, O Lord, the disciplines of patience, for to wait is often harder than to work.(Peter Marshall) Every choice moves us closer to or farther away from the goal. I have set before you life and death, blessing and curses: Therefore choose life. (Deut. 30:19) Do I choose integrity and refuse evil? Do I listen to the inner voice and choose to make changes or excuses; to be motivated or manipulated; to be useful or used; to excel or compete; to choose self esteem or self pity?(pause) Prayer song: Choices for Life - http://youtu.be/zRZHKNHoRfc Reader 5: Discipline empowers and can be used to create a caring, considerate, secure, participatory classroom climate that fosters compassionate, courteous, conscientious and resilient pupils. Rules of behavior help create an effective, educational and cooperative climate for students to learn and teachers to teach. Creating a positive ethos to enhance the self-esteem of children through praise and encouragement at school level in weekly assembly, and at the class level in star of the week furthers motivation. All the school staff feels responsible to promote discipline policy while pupils are encouraged to be self responsible and to care for others. Choices are directly related to responsibility for the consequences of their choice. Conscious choice in every situation such as: before one speaks to listen, before one reacts to think, before one spends to earn, before one criticizes to reflect, before one prays to forgive and before one quits to put in effort for success defines ones character. Reflective Time: (allot at least 10 minutes) Leader: The goal of mankind is to walk a path on which souls will sparkle as diamonds. There will be many labyrinth turns (as the angles & facets of a diamond) on this path, but if we train ourselves in godliness just as we exercise physically, well benefit in all ways and accomplish our goals. Tips Towards Positive Discipline tools to build self-discipline. (reflective pauses ) In what areas of my life I am not disciplined and would need to be more disciplined? ( Pause...) Prayer song: Choices for Life - http://youtu.be/zRZHKNHoRfc (Lyrics) Sometimes its hard not to just run with the crowd / It's easier just follow, They say they'll take you to a cool new world / But that's the road to sorrow. I've been there before lost my pride and so much more, But I fought my way back so I wanna tell you. Chorus: Don't be fooled by what you don't know / Don't be afraid of where you wanna to go, 'Cos there's a voice inside telling you what's right. / A choice, that choice is life. If you feel you've got no one else on your side / They'll be a voice deep inside you. Giving you the faith that you need to win the fight / Just know there's nothing you can't do. No matter where you are / There's no distance that's too far, I'm gonna take a road that leads to the future. Chorus You don't ever have to feel afraid / Step by step you can do it your own way, It's the same journey that we all make / And together we can grow stronger. Chorus
