A FATAL ACCIDENT ?

INTRODUCTION
rapid economic development (all sector) great increases in the number of people killed and injured at work For decades, industries have embraced many systems to minimise workplace accidents and incidents workers especially those in the manufacturing sector still suffer a high level of occupational accidents almost every year government has come out with a legislative framework to deal with this situation

WORKPLACE ACCIDENTS CAUSE BY HUMAN??

Selfishness: a person will feel the impact of an accident and be sensitive and caring against him if the accident has an interest to him. This includes accidents involving self, family, acquaintances and their property. They are less concerned about the accident if it involves people who are not known. Right and wrong: There is an opinion saying that anyone can make a mistake, and then he should accept the consequences. In other words, if someone made a mistake and cause an accident, and when the accident happened to him there was indeed an accident should happen and it can be accepted. The focus is wrong: If an accident occurs, the questions is not for the reasons of the accident and prevent similar accidents recurring, but the focus is on determining who make mistakes. Similarly, prevention of accidents is more reactive to the actions to date to comply with legal requirements and about the efforts to change attitudes and culture. The public address individuals: People are more concerned if the problem is that many problems, and accidents involving more people than if it happens to some individuals. Attitude is what makes an incident to a disaster trajek at work because of action taken too late and the disaster is beyond control, or more costly to control.

DEFINITION

Occupational Safety and Health is a condition in which an employee needs a work environment that is safe and healthy for themselves and others who may be affected by its activities

CONCEPT OF OSH

Occupational health and safety is a cross-disciplinary area concerned with protecting the safety, health and welfare of people engaged in work or employment. The goal of all occupational health and safety programs is to foster a safe work environment. As a secondary effect, it may also protect coworkers, family members, employers, customers, suppliers, nearby communities, and other members of the public who are impacted by the workplace environment.

CONCEPT OF OSH

It may involve interactions among many subject areas, including occupational medicine, occupational (or industrial) hygiene, public health, safety engineering, chemistry, health physics, ergonomics, toxicology, epidemiology, environmental health, industrial relations, public policy, industrial sociology, medical sociology, social law, labour law and occupational health psychology.

IMPORTANT OF SAFETY IN THE WORKPLACE

Moral - An employee should not have to risk injury or death at work, nor should others associated with the work environment.

Economic - many governments realize that poor occupational health and safety performance results in cost to the State (e.g. through social security payments to the incapacitated, costs for medical treatment, and the loss of the "employability" of the worker). Employing organizations also sustain costs in the event of an incident at work (such as legal fees, fines, compensatory damages, investigation time, lost production, lost goodwill from the workforce, from customers and from the wider community).

3. Legal - Occupational requirements may be reinforced in civil law and/or criminal law; it is accepted that without the extra "encouragement" of potential regulatory action or litigation, many organisations would not act upon their implied moral obligations.
