GUIDELINES FOR CANDIDATES APPEARING FOR WRITTEN TEST FOR THE POST OF
EXECUTIVE TRAINEE IN POWERGRID

The Written Test is scheduled to commence at 10.00 a.m. Candidates enrolled for the test will be required to
bring the Admit card for admission to the test. The following guidelines and specimen example of questions are
framed with a view to facilitate the candidates to appreciate the nature of the test being administered.

A. Written Test
The test is of objective type in two parts viz: Part-I and Part II consisting of 170 questions to
be answered in 120 minutes.
1. Part-I consists of Technical Knowledge Test (TKT) with 120 questions having specific questions in
your discipline. e.g – If you have applied for ET – Electrical then question shall be in electrical
discipline.
2. Part-II consists of Executive Aptitude Test (EAT) with 50 questions on vocabulary, verbal
comprehension, quantitative aptitude, reasoning ability, ability to determine data sufficiency
interpretation of graphs/charts/tables, numerical ability etc.
3. Both Parts I and II are compulsory and short listing for Interview is based on performance in both
the parts. All questions are compulsory and carry equal marks. Wrong and multiple answers
would result in negative marks of 1/4.

B. General Guidelines

1. SC/ST candidates should bring the TA claim form duly filled in, original caste certificate in the
form prescribed by Govt. of India with a copy of the same and the original bus ticket and/or railway
ticket number for claiming traveling allowance. TA will not be paid in the absence of any of these
documents. TA for SC/ST candidates will be limited to 2nd class to and fro rail fare from the address
mentioned in the Admit Card to the nearest test centre provided the distance is at least 30 kms. and
out of municipal limits. In case of journey by bus, reimbursement will be limited to 2nd class rail
fare for equivalent distance or actual bus fare whichever is less.
2. At test venue, you must occupy the seat allotted against your roll number. Inter-changing seats,
creating disturbance in the hall, exchanging notes, consulting/talking to each other etc. will result
in summary dismissal from the examination hall and non-evaluation of answer sheet and other
disciplinary proceedings.

3. The examination hall will be kept open from 9.30 a.m. onwards. You should occupy your seat
positively by 9.30 a.m. No candidate will be admitted to the test after 10.00 a.m. Similarly no
one will be allowed to leave the examination hall before 11.00 a.m. and between 11.45 a.m. and
12.00 noon.
4. Before commencement of the test fill up the information asked in the top portion of the Answer
Sheet.
5. Ensure that your signature, signature of POWERGRID Coordinator and invigilator are put on both
the Answer Sheet and Admit Card. Without these the answer-sheet will be treated as invalid.

6. Answer-sheet, Admit Card and Test Booklet will have to be returned to the invigilator.
C. HOW TO ANSWER

1. For answering questions and filling up other information on Answer Sheet, use a blue or black
ball point pen.
2. Mark should be Dark and completely fill the circle.
3. Darken only ONE circle for each question as shown in the example below. If you darken more than
one option, your answer will be treated as wrong.

4. Make marks only in the spaces provided. Please do not make any stray marks on the Answer Sheet.
5. Rough work must not be done on the Answer Sheet. Use your test booklet for this purpose.
6. Mark your answer only in the appropriate spaces against the number corresponding to the question
you are answering.
7. The answer once marked by you in space provided in the Answer Sheet cannot be changed
again.

I. TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE TEST

If a two-wattmeter method of power measurement on wattmeter reads zero.
