Software Versions: TD816 TD1232

DIRECT INWARD SYSTEM ACCESS DISA KX-TD191 (TD1232) KX-TD190 (TD816)

The functions and operation of the DISA card in the TD1232 and TD816 are the same on both systems. The TD190 card for the TD816 connects into an expansion slot however it allows any expansion card to piggy pack on top, so not to waste the slot. Features and Functions: 1. DISA Auto Attendant. Allows 2 greeting messages to answer incoming calls and direct to an extension, extension group, phantom extension or make an external call. 2. UCD Courtesy Messages. Up to 4 16 second messages may be recorded to be used for UCD messaging. 3. Wake up calls. 1 Message may be used as a timed reminder or wake up message when using Hotel Features. There is a total of 64 seconds recording time per DISA card and a maximum of 4 DISA messages per card. To enable the use of all 4 messages each message length must be set to 16 seconds This is set under Auxiliary ports DISA settings show below:

This is also where AA (Auto Attendant) Dialing is configured.

Useful Hints: When DISA is used as an up front Auto Attendant a caller may dial an Extension number or a built in AA dial. If nothing is dialed the call will cut off after 5 seconds!! To prevent the call cutting off an IRNA on the trunk group must be enabled. The IRNA can be set to any extension or back to the DISA message. If the IRNA is set to the DISA message the caller will hear the message over and over again until they dial one of the options. If a call arrives at an extension after arriving at the DIS A message it will follow a call forward set on the extension, it will also follow IRNA. If there is no IRNA destination or call forward set the call will cut off after the IRNA timer plus 5 seconds by default this will occur after 13 rings on the extension. If an IRNA or Call Forward are set the call will arrive at the new destination and ring for the duration of the IRNA timer plus 5 seconds then cut off. This can be a nuisance however this feature has been designed to free the DISA resource to allow incoming calls to be answered. The only way to avoid the call from being disconnected is to set the IRNA back to a DISA message. *Calls cannot be call forwarded to DISA

When a message is used in a UCD time, an incoming caller will hear the message however they cannot dial and extension when used in this mode of operation. To allow the caller to dial the call must over flow to a DISA message.

Useful Additional Functions

DIRECT INWARD DIALING DID KX-TD185 CARD

The TD185 card supports the connection of up to 4 analogue DDI lines. It does not support standard CO lines unless special software is fitted! Installation: 1. 2. Connect the card to any spare expansion slot on the system. (Dont forget the Earth Screw) Assign the card under System Miscellaneous as a D

3. 4. 5.

While in this screen also set DID select to transfer table . Reset the PABX Check the DID COs are set to connect and in the same trunk group (8 by default) using CO Line setting 1.

6.

Assign a modification table to the DID trunk group under CO Line Groups.

7.

The table can be found in CO Line Table. This table needs to be assigned to allow DDIs to work. Check Incoming and Outgoing are set to Immediate, RMV is 0 and Add is blank.

8.

Fill in the DDI and destination table under CO DDI/DID option 10.

9.

Before connecting the DID Trunk check your set up using the following method: Connect your test butt to the first DID port go off hook, you should hear side tone only. Dial the digits you expect to receive from the network that you have set up on you DDI/DID table. If every thing is correct the destination extension should ring! J

10.

Connect the DID trunk and make a test call.

Common Problems: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. No Earth Screw fitted to the TD185 card No or incorrect digits sent from Telecom Pulse or Decadic digits sent from the network DID is polarity sensitive! Card assigned as CO not D

Toll Restriction.
Toll restriction is enabled by the level of restriction per Class of Service By default all extensions are in COS 1 Each COS can be assigned a Toll Restriction Table via System Class of service By Default all COS are set to TRS 1

Each COS has a day TRS and a Night TRS Each TRS level has a Deny Table and an Exception Table, codes can be configured except for levels 2-6. Level 1 has full-unrestricted access.

See next page for description

Note: Toll Restriction can be over ridden by the use of verified Account Codes. When a verified account code is entered by an extension it is checked against the account code table. If the code is valid the extensions toll restriction Deny level is advanced to Level 2 only. To enable Toll Restriction a logical step-by-step process is required: 1. Assign a Toll Restriction level to each Class of Service. Generally in the following manner: COS 1 TRS 1 COS 2 TRS 2 etc

2. Assign toll Codes to each Toll Deny Level in the following manner:

Note: Only the Leading Digits of the number are required, * is a wild card LVL 2 is unrestricted LVL 3 cannot dial International 00 or 0900 LVL 4 cannot dial International 00 or 0900 or cell phones 02 LVL 5 cannot dial International 00 or 0900 or cell phones 02 or National 0 LVL 6 is blank the restricted codes from LVL2, 3, 4, 5 are applied to it. 3. Next assign the required Extensions the appropriate Class of Service in Station COS and Mail Box ID

COS PRI is the default Class of Service, SEC is only used when Hotel Features are required. (Check In/Check Out status) 4. Now test the restrictions are working correctly by making out going calls from the restricted e xtensions.

5. You can now add Exception Codes in the Toll Restriction Exception code table.

Exception codes from LVL 6 apply to LVL5, 4, 3, 2 6. Now check your Toll Restriction still works, and then check you can dial 0800 numbers etc. 7. To allow extensions to make toll calls, Account codes need to be entered using System Account Codes

There can be up to 128 Verified Account Codes Account Codes using the numbers 99 can now be used in V5 software by setting Additional Function SYS 9 Bit 6 to 1 8. To enforce required extensions to enter an account code when making a toll call, enable Verify Toll under System Class of Service.

Notes: It pays to set up each step and make test calls as you go along. The common mistake is that every thing is set up and there are conflicts between the Deny table and the Exception table, or extensions are put into the wrong class of service. System Speed Dials can be disregarded from Toll Restriction to allow any extension access to these numbers.

Automatic Route Selection ARS.

ARS is designed for inserting Carrier Codes when using 3rd Party Toll providers. E.g. Clear. ARS will insert carrier codes e.g. 050 to route a toll call through another network, so the user does not need to manually insert the code while dialing the call. This feature also has other uses, for example if a customer is using a network service like Centrex. When Centrex is enabled on the customers line, to make an out going call they would need to dial 1 to select an outside line, then the next 1 to make a call out side the Centrex service. i.e. 1,1,xxxxxxx We can enable ARS to insert the 1 automatically so the caller is not required to dial 1,1. Set up procedure: 1. From the main menu open ARS 2. Now start with the Leading Digit table (this example is for a customer using Telecom lines and Clear for any toll calls made.)

The system is now looking to modify any out side numbers dialed starting with 00, 20, 03, 04, 06, 07, 09. Using Routing Plan 1

3. Next configure the ARS Routing plan.

Here we are using Routing plan 1 which in Time A uses Trunk Group 1 & Modification table 1. Typically only 1 Routing plan is required. Multiple plans are provided to enable the use of multiple Toll Providers, there are different time slots that can be used to provide the least cost routing, as different providers may have different peak times etc. This is rarely required in the NZ market. Typically only the use of one trunk group is required.

3. Enter the ARS Mode/Time/Modify Data screen. Enable ARS, Enable Time A (disable Time B, C, D unless required) fill in Modification Table 1: when using Clear, the digits 050 need to be inserted before the dialed number. e.g. 050 025 2908329

For Mod Table 1 we remove nothing and add 050 to the front of the dialed number. Only numbers dialed from our Leading Digit table will have 050 inserted as a prefix. ARS is only applied when the line access code is dialed usually 1 or 9. If a CO key is selected to make an outgoing call from a key phone, ARS will not be applied. Also is a Trunk group code is used ARS will not be applied. When ARS is enabled a dummy dial tone is provided by the PABX, and the network dial tone is not heard.

UCD/Ring Groups.

A typical operation for a UCD group would be that of a call center. Calls are sent to the Floating Directory Number (FDN) of a UCD group. Calls are distributed evenly within the group in a Uniform manner When the groups is busy/unavailable calls can Que and follow a Call Handling time table. Courtesy messages may be played from a DISA card to callers in the Que Calls may overflow at the end of the time table to another group, a bell or operator or to a Voice mail box or menu. Group members may log in and out of the group. Group statistics may be collected via a manager extension or CTI software

How to configure a UCD/Ring Group

Step 1: Assign extensions to an extension group using Station Menu 1

All extensions are assigned as group 1 by default Step 2: Assign Extension group as UCD or Ring group using System Miscellaneous

All extension groups are set to Disable by default Note: Extension groups are pick up groups as well as incoming call groups

Step 3: Assign and configure a timetable for the group using System UCD

This example consists of Extension group 2 set as a UCD group and extension group 3 set as a Ring group (as per step 2) The FDN for Group 2 is 892 the FDN for Group 3 is 893. Group 2 is assigned to use Table 2 Group 3 is assigned to use Table 3 Group calls will enter the Que and follow the timetable when they arrive at DN 892 and all members of the group are Busy. Note: calls that reach an idol extension will ring until picked up or IRNA occurs. They will not follow the time table while ringing further steps are required. When all members are busy and a call arrives at Group 2 DN892 the following will occur: 1 S1 DISA message 1 will be played e.g. Welcome to Panasonic all our operators are attending calls at the moment please hold the line. 2 1T 16 seconds of hold music are heard. 3 S2 DISA message 2 will be played e.g. We apologize for the delay your call is very important to us please hold the line and we will attend your call as soon as possible 4 1T 16 seconds of hold music are heard 5 TR Transfer to Overflow destination for group 2, which is set to 865 (voice mail, when the call reaches the voice mail the Custom Greeting will be heard if there is no 892 mail box) When all members are busy and a call arrives at Group 3 DN893 the following will occur: 1 S3 DISA message 3 will be played e.g. Welcome to Panasonic Sales all our operators are attending calls at the moment please hold the line. 2 1T 16 seconds of hold music are heard. 3 S2 DISA message 2 will be played e.g. We apologize for the delay your call is very important to us please hold the line and we will attend your call as soon as possible 4 2T 32 seconds of hold music are heard 5 RT Return to Top, Calls return to the top of the table by default the call will arrive at step 1 S3 The RT destination can be configured as per the additional functions. To Enable the Time Table while a call is ringing refer to the additional function settings on the next page. Notes: 1 All group members are logged in by default, a Log In/Out key may be programmed on key phones, it will illuminate red when logged out. 2 It is possible for all members to log out, if this occurs the incoming call will arrive at the IRNA the call will not follow the UCD time table. 3 If group members set Call Forwards they will not receive Group calls, they will appear logged out of the group. 4 Group calls will not follow call forwards. Call forwards cannot be set to the FDN of the group.

Area 8

Please note!!! UCD and Ring groups will now both follow the UCD Time Table. All the above configurations refer to V5 software only!

Points to think about. The UCD/Ring group time table can now be used to present calls to a number of destinations, instead of using IRNA or call forwards which only allow the call to be presented at the original destination then at a second point, calls will not forward to a third destination.

Quick Dials.
Quick dials are designed to simplify dialing for example in hotel use: Dial 0 for Operator Dial 1 for Room Service Dial 2 for Laundry etc Quick Dials can be used for Desk-to-Desk dialing, either by using VPN or DDIs Example: Site A uses Extension numbers 80xx Site B uses Extension numbers 81xx There is no VPN in place however the customer would like to dial a 4-digit number to access the remote site. In order to achieve this 2 things need to be planned; *At least the last 1or 2 digits of DDI numbers need to match extension number. Ext 8001 DDI xxxxx01. Ext 8002 DDI xxxxx02 *The extension numbering range must be different at both sites, 4 digits makes things easier. Site A 80xx Site B 81xx 1. Flexible numbering needs to be configured. (Site A)

2. Set up Quick Dials

In this example when 81 is dialed from an extension the system will dial 127201 Therefore if the extension numbering and DDI numbering has been engineered correctly at each site an extension user at Site A can dial 81xx and 127201xx will be dialed, extension 81xx at Site B will ring. Quick Dials can be a very powerful feature and have many useful applications.

KX-TD286 6 PORT BASIC RATE ISDN INTERFACE CARD

GENERAL.
The programming detailed in this manual is based on maintenance tool software 4.06b2and ROM versions from P371b-TD816 and P272bTD1232. The KX-TD286 card provides an interface for ISDN BRI trunk lines and also ISDN extension devices. It can provide access for up to 6 BRI circuits (12 CO trunks) for a KXTD1232, and up to 4 BRI circuits (8 CO trunks) for a KX-TD816. The S0 ports can also be programmed to support ISDN extensions. Each S0 port can support up to 8 ISDN devices. These extensions can be addressed individually or simultaneously depending on programming. When programming a TD1232 S0 ports as CO trunks, if S0 port 1 is programmed as a CO then it replaces the analogue CO trunks 1 & 2. This is the same for S0 ports 1-6 which will replace all analogue trunk ports on the system. So if you need to use the analogue trunk ports on the system, you need to program the corresponding S0 ports to Extension in order to make them available. When programming a TD816 S0 ports as CO trunks, it is the same as above but S0 ports 5 & 6 are only available as extension ports. The card can be installed in any of the flexible expansion slots on the front of systems.

CARD INSTALLATION.
1. 2. Ensure the power is off when the card is plugged into the system. Ensure the earthing screw is screwed in tightly. Attach the connectors to the card as follows:

LINE PROGRAMMING FOR INCOMMING CALLS .

Incoming calls may be received as 1:1,1:N or more commonly DDIs
1. DIL 1:1 Simply configure a 1:1 in CO menu 1 as normal All calls on BRI port 1, CO 1 & CO2 will ring at extension 801

NOTE: do not enable CPC or Answer reversal for ISDN 2. DIL 1:N DO not assign a 1:1 setting, as this will over ride the 1:N table. Additional Function settings must be checked Sys 5 Bits 7 and 8 should be set to 0 to send unassigned DDI numbers to the 1:N table in Day and Night mode

3. DDI Configure DDI/MSN table from CO option 9 Set DDI/MSN Assignment to DDI for day and night mode Note once this service is enabled 1:1 settings are over ridden! Also this is for Port 1 (CO1 & CO2) only, press F6 for the next page Port 2 (CO3 & CO4) etc!

Next set the destinations for your DDIs in CO Table 10. You will normally receive 3 digits from the network for DDIs (some times MSNs will be 7 digits)

You can have up to 400 DDIs, there is a day and a night destination for both.

There are also some settings in the additional functions to determine the result of an incoming call when the destination extension is busy or invalid.

ISDN Extensions Can be configured very easily Step 1. Enable the ISDN Port as an Extension in CO Menu 4 ISDN Internal/External The settings below are the most common for ISDN equipment (routers, modems VC)

Step 2. Configure an extension number/name under Station Setting menu 6 ISDN Internal 1

Once this is done reset the PABX and connect the ISDN device, you should be able to dial an outgoing call at this point. You can also configure DDIs for the ISDN extension just as you can for a regular extension. Each ISDN extension supports 2x 64K channels The PABX does support Channel bonding, so devices may make multiple calls out and bond the available channels. i.e. 2 64K data calls are dialed from ISDN extension 787. Once the far end answers both calls, the channels are bonded to provide a 128K connection!

Clear ISDN BRI and Panasonic PBX.

Problem: It seems the intermittent problems on the Clear Communications network are cause by the fact that in many areas the exchanges are linked by some kind of wireless MUX and as a consequence from time to time there may be a glitch due to RF conditions. When the Clear exchange is using P-P (Point to Point), if a glitch occurs on the exchange side and L2 is broken, the exchange requires a SABME message from the PBX side before L2 is set-up again. If an incoming call arrives before L2 has been set-up, the network exchange provides ring back to the incoming caller but provides no messaging to the PBX to reinitiate L2. The result is that no calls arrive at the PBX until the NT is reset. Solution: From the results of testing we have found that the TD1232/ 816 will connect reliably to the Clear network when using the following settings. Preferred settings when using Clear Basic rate:

These problems do not occur when Clear uses P-MP (Point to Multi Point). When using Clear BRI, please request that they use their preferred P-MP settings and configure the Panasonic PBX accordingly. Please Note: P-MP settings only work on the CO side from software V4 TD1232 TD816 P271B P371B

The help file in V4.06B2 programming software still says that this setting is for ISDN extension configuration only, but this description is incorrect as P-MP is now supported on the CO side as well.

KX-TD290 ISDN 30 CHANNEL PRIMARY RATE CARD

The TD290 card is a 30-channel PRI card, it can be configure to support any number of channels up to 30. It is a CO card and cannot be configured for ISDN extensions. The PRI card must be fitted to the Master cabinet when using a dual cabinet set up When this unit is installed to the system, the maximum number of available outside lines is limited to 42. Outside lines 13 through 24 will become unavailable if the Slave system is operating. PRI provides thirty 64 kbps B channels for voice/data transmission and one 64 kbps D channel for signaling (30B + D). Installation: 1. Connect the TD290 card to any spare slot on the Master cabinet (dont forget the earth screw) 2. Assign the card as an S3 using the System Miscellaneous screen.

3. Assign the number of channels using Line PRI Configuration

4. Reset the PABX!!

5. Connect the Primary rate to the TD290 Card. The PRI cct uses 2 pairs TXa ,TXb, RXa ,RXb

6. Check the card status using System ISDN Card menu

You should see Clock Detect and Clock Select, there should also be 30 available channels.

7. To enable DDIs enter the Line DDI/MSN setting screen and set all 12 ports to DDI

8. Next set the destinations for your DDIs in CO Table 10. You will normally receive 3 digits from the network for DDIs (some times MSNs will be 7 digits)

Notes: Once connected there should be up to 30 ISDN channels starting from CO 25 All channels will be in trunk group 8.

Names can be assigned with numbers. This is done under System Speed Dials. A - symbol in front of the number is required

There are also some settings in the additional functions to determine the result of an incoming call when the destination extension is b usy or invalid.
