Training for appearing in online examinations Generally the institutes organising online examination, arranges a mock exam of the similar pattern of the examination which to be conducted. It can also be called as a MOCK ONLINE TEST, which helps students or candidates in being familiar with the pattern of exam and with the use of technical devices.
Taking place of written examinations On a large, the computerised examination is affecting the written or offline examination in India. In todays world, India is coming up with the updated and latest technology in every field and somehow this technology up gradation in India is helping in improving the examination system of India. As conducting written exams or offline exams take a long time to be planned and processed, on the other hand; it takes a very short time period to conduct online exam in India now due to technological usage. Advantages of online examination system Online assessments, however, offer several advantages for the institution. These include: Time analysis of responses to the question level to better discriminate between candidates. Adaptive testing, where the next question to be posed is determined by prior response(s). For ex: AMCAT. Different sets of questions and response orders to reduce cheating. Automated analysis of results of entire candidates performance. Immediate feedback can be given, sometimes. Disadvantages of online examination system Apart from the he benefits, the difficulties associated with the online examination pattern may be listed in various forms. The technology itself creates problems of inter-candidate interaction and is prone to technical malfunctions which can affect many students simultaneously. As the knowledge of computer has become a necessity of human life, still there are some areas of India where people are not aware of using such devices. It can not be inference with it that there is a lack of talent in the people of these areas, but due to backwardness they are not as modern as other people of forward areas. And with these problems, they find
themselves not able to cope up with such machineries to compete with others. To be fair, online systems need to authenticate the individual undertaking assessment. Another aspect of fairness is generally eliminating collaboration: since the computer is online, this is hard to implement except by locking out critical functionality during the assessment. For ex.: online banking examination. With the help of this function, the institutions organising such exams are able to judge the problem solving skills and aptitude of the candidates. Conclusion With reference to advantages along with the disadvantages of online examination system, there is a question arises out of itShould online examination system be introduced in those areas which are untouched with it? Suggestions to make this examination system more effective. Can online examination be made a part of regular feature of schools?
