GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS Make a letter for each of the following: Inquiry, Request, Invitation, Introduction, Complaint, Appreciation, Congratulation, Condolence, and Resignation. For each letter function, specific situations are given. Be careful to construct the letter according to indicated instructions. Any format you deem appropriate may be used.

LETTER 1 INQUIRY You are very delighted to know that paperback copies of your favorite book Fifty Shades (books 1 to 3) are available in some bookstores in your vicinity. You would like to ask for the price list of these three books. Address your letter of inquiry to any bookstore of your choice and call the attention of the Sales Manager. LETTER 2 REQUEST Your department is scheduled to undergo the annual audit in a few days, and there are still many things to prepare. You are to request your employees to stay 3 more hours overtime on top of their regular working hours to cope with the all the preparations. Be persuasive but not demanding. Encourage them by stating the purpose of such request and how their favor would be valued. LETTER 3 INVITATION Your company is holding a grand party for its 5th year anniversary. You would like to send an invitation to all customers who have patronized your product for the past five years. Provide necessary details to make your invitation more complete. LETTER 4 INTRODUCTION
As a manager, you have been requested by your former secretary Ms. Julie P. Torres to introduce her to her prospective manager. Ms. Torres, who had been your efficient secretary for 5 years, filed her letter of resignation two weeks before the time of your writing this letter. Her family having relocated to Cebu left her no choice but to leave her position under your employ. Write a letter of introduction addressed to PHILIP MILLS, INC. with office at Mandaue, Cebu City.

LETTER 5 COMPLAINT
As an active and responsible member of your community (barangay, city, or municipality), write a letter of complaint addressed to the leader concerned, pointing out a specific problem, malpractice, or an urgent need that you want the leader to attend to. Be clear and specific enough to present your reasons and state the necessary actions you wish to be done. Be reminded about proper courtesy and tone. Use a personal heading since this is a personal correspondence.

LETTER 6 APPRECIATION
As a supervisor, you have to thank Mr. Jaime O. Perez, manager of Sweet Holiday Inn in Jaro, Iloilo City for allowing you occupancy of a reserved room even though you had neglected to make a reservation prior to your arrival for the Supervisors Enhancement Conference. You must express your sincere appreciation for the act of kindness accorded to you. Point out how significant the managers act of kindness to you.

LETTER 7 CONGRATULATION As the CEO of your company, send a warm letter congratulating another company (choose one from among your classmates) for a successful product launching that took place the night before the writing of this letter. In your letter, highlight how this recent success in the endeavor can better your relationships as partners. LETTER 8 CONDOLENCE
As the director of Personnel Department, write a condolence letter to Mrs. Patricia B. Nola, wife of the deceased assistant director Mr. Peter S. Nola and mother of three children. Sincerely express how a great loss Mr. Nola has been to the department and the whole company as well. If possible, offer some assistance to lessen the burden of the bereaved family.

LETTER 9 RESIGNATION
As an employee working for your company for 6 years, you think it is high time to have a change of environment. Write a resignation letter addressed to your president Mr. Eduardo V. Montenegro expressing your intension. Clearly state your reasons for resigning. Also thank your employee and specifically state how your experience has helped you grow and develop. Include effective date of resignation.
