27. Anti-discriminatory practice and confidentiality

/var/www/apps/conversion/tmp/scratch_5/129144197.doc

Southdown Housing Association is committed to equal opportunities and antidiscriminatory practice. Southdown Housing Association trainers will ensure that all course notes, handouts, case studies and exercises, delivery methods and presentations reflect diversity and good practice. Sharing of experiences and knowledge by participants often adds to a session. The active participation of attendees can enrich the learning experience provided by the trainer and will often act as a catalyst for the involvement of quieter members of the group. Southdown Housing Association is aware, however, of the need to be mindful of the importance of confidentiality in training sessions. Southdown Housing Association trainers will have differing ways of introducing the concept of confidentiality to their training sessions, defining the boundaries for sharing experiences that are relevant to the session and what should not be shared in an open forum (e.g. information that could identify an individual). In instances where there is disclosure of poor practice/abuse or the potential for abuse of a vulnerable individual, confidentiality has limitations and participants will be made aware of this.

28. What happens if Southdown Housing Association trainers are concerned about the practice of the participant or the service from which they come?
Southdown Housing Association is committed to good practice, and to the health, safety and well-being of people who use social care and housing services. We have a duty as trainers to raise and respond to issues about poor practice, particularly if we believe that a vulnerable adult or child may be at risk of abuse. Concerns about practice could include concerns about a participants behaviour, skills, knowledge and attitudes and/or descriptions of the practice in the service. Where there are concerns about the practice of an individual member of staff or service, the trainer will raise this with the main contact at your organisation. Where possible, they will encourage the individual participant(s) to raise the issue themselves, and/or inform the course participant that they are going to take it further. If the comments on the course cause the trainer to be concerned that a child or vulnerable adult is at risk of abuse, the trainer will raise this with the main contact at your organisation and/or external body (e.g. make a safeguarding alert). Where possible, they will inform the course participant that they are going to do this.

29. Customer service, feedback and complaints

Southdown is committed to providing quality training, good customer care and to improving the service we offer. We welcome feedback to help us improve what we do. We encourage our customers to tell us if there is anything we can do to improve the quality of the training and service we provide. We also have a formal complaints process, and a copy is included with this contract. Complaints and feedback relating to the delivery of the course should be addressed to the Training Manager at Southdown Housing Association, who will investigate the matter.

30. Certificates
Southdown Housing Association will provide certificates signed by the trainer for the participants and give them to the participants on the day.
