As with any other elected position, you should step up ahead of time to express your interest in running for Bonus Member. To expedite counting for bonus members, we will have pre-printed ballots. (There will be a space for write-ins.) Please let Patty know if you wish to run. Contact Patty heypattymac@juno.com or 303-457-1291. What positions do we elect at other-than-county level? We will break into the applicable groups to elect the following: House District Officers and District Captains (in HD56, DCs only) Senate District Officers I encourage you to consider running for one or more of these positions. I know that this can all be a little confusing, so if you have questions, please dont hesitate to contact me. I am more than happy to talk with you. You can contact me by email heypattymac@juno.com or phone 303-457-1291. If your query requires more than a short answer, I encourage you to use the phone. General Notes: 1) You do NOT have to be a current member of the ACRC to run for any of these positions. You need only be a registered Republican living in the county/district for which you are running. (For most of the HDs and SDs, however, their bylaws have an Officer Registration requirement of one year and a residency requirement of 180 days.) 2) We do not elect PCPs at these meetings. They are elected at the caucuses, the next of which will be held in March of 2014. 3) The people elected at the Organization Meetings are not the same as Delegates / Alternates to assemblies and conventions. Thats an entirely separate set of folks, and those elections, too, begin at the caucus level.
According to the Pew Charitable Trusts, the 2012 election will be reviewed at a later date. For the 2012 election, Colorado released the nations first web-optimized online voter registration and lookup and an expanded statewide electronic ballot delivery system for Colorados military and overseas voters. Thus, Hillary is actually approaching the Benghazi issue in a way that wont get to the root cause of the security breakdown . . . she just wants to move forward . . . not worry about what may have caused the security breakdown. No, Hillary is borrowing a strategy from her boss. Express indignation, heap praise on the victims, pick a villain that fits their agenda, ignore anything that hurts their agenda . . . and then CREATE A COMPREHENSIVE AND BALANCED APPROACH so that this WILL NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN. I honestly laugh at the lack of imagination, leadership and the obvious absurdity. Why arent the rest of you laughing?
What is Liberty Day? Liberty Day is a celebration originated by Colorado Lions to call attention to both the Declaration of Independence and the U. S. Constitution. Events are scheduled statewide with the cooperation of Lions on the local and district level, elected government representatives and school superintendents and teachers. Many students lack a basic understanding of America's fundamental liberties and the role elected officials play in maintaining those liberties. The Lions of Colorado are making sure that the basic liberties ensured by America's founding documents are not forgotten. How Liberty Day started The idea for Liberty Day originated in the summer of 1996. During a tutoring program, Lions in Denver discovered a tremendous need in the schools for supplemental resources regarding the Declaration of Independence and the United States Constitution. They took their idea for developing a statewide educational effort directly to the top. Several Colorado state officials were asked for their support: Gale Norton, Attorney General for the State of Colorado; Chuck Berry, Speaker of the Colorado House of Representatives; former state governor Richard Lamm; and David Skaggs of the U.S. House of Representatives. Their enthusiasm for the project immediately matched that of the Lions, and they agreed to serve as honorary co-chairpersons. Since that time, the list of honorary cochairpersons has grown to include 21 elected officials from Colorado. When is Liberty Day celebrated? Liberty Day is celebrated annually on March 16th, the birthday of James Madison, who: Helped write the Virginia Plan, the basis of discussion for the creation of the U.S. Constitution; Kept detailed notes on those debates in the Constitutional Convention of 1787; Wrote many of the articles in support of that new Constitution, which became known as the "Federalist Papers" As a member of the first Congress, introduced the Bill of Rights to the House of Representatives in 1789; Was Secretary of State (1801-1809) under President Thomas Jefferson; Was President of the United States
Ben Franklin challenged us that we will have a republic only if we can keep it. But this great nation will be unable to heed his words if our citizens are not proactive in educating othersespecially fifth graders learning about government for the first time. When I founded Liberty Day with my wife Kathy in 1996, we never anticipated the things we would accomplish. Because of years of hard work and dedication exerted by countless individuals and our many partners, hundreds of thousands of kids have received copies of the Liberty Day booklets containing the U.S. Constitution and Declaration of Independence. Many of these youngsters have learned directly from national and community leaders, parents, teachers, college students,
and so many others about just what it means to be an American. Liberty Day has strived to educate tomorrows leaders exactly why it is that our nations founding documents are so importantand why it is so critical that we preserve them and the freedoms they entail. Our mission is unchanging. We are dedicated to bringing community members of all levels together to educate young Americans about the contents of our nations founding documents and to distributing copies of those documents to all the countrys fifth and sixth graders. Our vision is clear. Through integrity, hard work, and tireless dedication to our mission, a Constitution will one day be in every pocket, and all Americans will know and understand the documents upon which this nation was built. I hope you will take a look at what our new website has to offer and consider lending your help and support to Liberty Day and our shared mission of fulfilling Franklins call to keep the republic. Yours in Liberty,

1 Participate in town meetings. Mingle with local, state and federal politicians. Learn
about the issues facing your community. Meet others who support the same causes you do. Voice your opinion and see what offices in politics appeal to you.
2 Show your support of the political system by voting in every election. More importantly, bring others to
the polls with you. Talk about the issues with people and inspire them to let their opinions be heard through their votes .
3 Help out at a local political office. It doesn't matter if you are a Republican, Democrat or a member of
the Green Party, all political parties need volunteers. Work one on one with them and learn the political process. Network with others involved in local politics. Get in on the ground floor and learn the ropes. Look into volunteering for organizations who promote causes like the environment, health care, campaign finance or immigration reform .
4 Start your own political organization. Whether it's a local off-shoot of a nationwide campaign or it's
specific to a cause no one has addressed politically, get it going. Involve your friends and family. Have rallies, fundraisers, seminars or even a bowling night. The idea is to spread your passion for the cause and get others to join you.
o
5 Start a petition on the Internet. Instead of knocking on doors or stopping people at the mall, get people
involved with an online petition. Involve yourself in online political blogs. Post your opinions and get others to join in with you.
6 Put yourself out there and run for local office. Civic offices come up for re-election all the time. Find a
position you know you could excel in and start your campaign. Call your local political party and ask if there are offices up for election. Take to the streets and let people know you are the person for the job.

registration card and if you dont have one, get one. If you feel strongly about this party and their beliefs, register as a Republican. However you dont have to register as a Republican if you don't want to. You can register as an NPA, (no party affiliation) as an Independent or even a Democrat.
2 Do as much research as possible on the Republican Party. Make sure that the issues the party
represents are issues that you believe in and that the candidates representing the party are people you hold in high regard.
o
3 You may wish to support a particular candidate for local government, or state government or you may
want to support Republican candidates for the U.S. Senate , or Congress and perhaps even the Republican Partys presidential candidate. Once you have figured out at what level you wish to participate, contact the appropriate party office and ask how you can get more involved.
4 When you contact the appropriate party office, make sure you have a plan for how you want to be
involved in the Republican Party. Your involvement could be as simple as making a donation, or you could volunteer your time by handing out literature or manning a phone at a call center. Most people involved in the Republican Party are volunteers. You may wish to become some sort of aid or spokesperson for a particular candidate as well, but these positions are usually staffed by people close to the candidate. These positions usually require some sort of education in politics, law or the media.
o
5 Joining a Republican state party might be just the ticket for you. You can volunteer to answer phones,
pass out literature, or something as simple as making a donation. This is all that is required to join your state's Republican party. Also, your Republican state party will deal with issues in your state that may be closer to your areas of interest.
6 Join the Republican National Committee. You can go right to their website and enter in your
information (see Resources). Tell them a little bit about yourself and what you would like to do for their organization. You may want to become a volunteer or even take a job with the Republican National Committee.
