DEDICATED TO Our Beloved, Honorable & Respected Parents and Teachers

Acknowledgements

All the praises for Allah Almighty, Lord of all the worlds, who blessed us with the caliber, ability of hard work and courage as an ultimate consequence of which we became able to complete the project at hand with the required goals and much before the prescribed limit of time factor.

Secondarily, we, the associate workers of the project under study, are thankful to our project advisor Engr. Tauheed ur Rehman, through the kind guidance of which we were able to complete the project. He is very kind and supporting person. In spite of his busy teaching schedule, he arranged a number of meetings with us which proved to be very useful on our part. Sometimes, one short meeting with him helped solve the problems which might have taken days if we tried them on our own.

In the end, we consider it ultimate to pay regards to our parents and all the teachers of the Electrical Engineering Department, from which we learnt a lot throughout our 4-year course of study. It was not just the matter of final year, except the required competitive aptitude, sense of responsibility and sincerity required for the successful completion of any project was developed in us by our graceful parents and teachers during our 4-year period in the college.

Abstract
Power system protection is the most important part of Modern Power Systems. This motivation deals with the Protection Scheme of 220kV Grid station simulated in ETAP in the form of one line diagram which shows all the transformers, two 132KV lines and connected loads. The main focus is on the Co-ordination between the different Relays used on the Grid Station. Previously these studies were done by hand using different types of graphs which was very tedious and time consuming process. Keeping this scenario, this research work under the supervision of reputed experts, tackled this problem by using the most modern software ETAP, which performs numerical calculations with tremendous speed, automatically applies industry accepted standards, and provides easy to follow output reports. Complete system analysis includes load flow, short circuit and Time Coordination studies on ETAP STAR Device Coordination Module. The ease and simplicity of procedure defines an extraordinary method of Protective Relay Coordination studies for a developing country like Pakistan. The User Friendly features of ETAP make it very easy to visualize and compare different protection schemes, their speed of operation and their reliability.
