Date- 16/07/2012 to 30/07/2012 Faculty Guide: Mr. V R SREERENGAN Group Number: 52 Group Member: PRASHANT (MA1130), Company: RELIANCE FRESH Timings Of work: 9.00 Am to 6.oo pm Place: New Delhi

Week 1 (16/07/2012 to 21/07/2012) Mr. Ashish Mishra. The stores manager of reliance fresh gave us a detail introduction regarding the company and the industry in which we are working. he also assisted us in letting us know what are the type of the department consisting in the store and how it functions daily in the successful working of the company. We were made to see the warehouse in which the stock is being stored daily. How various technology helps in the reducing the man power work like billing of the goods etc. The stores manager allowed us to take part in the meetings so that we can come to know how communication process takes place between the employees and the supervisor We were made to interact with the cashier, supervisor, assistant supervisor , inventory manager and the marketing manager of the store.

Week 2 (23/07/2012-30/07/2012) 23/07/2012-24/07/2012- FINANCE Every reliance fresh has two cash manager. I was made to assist the cash manager. All the transactions are managed by him. In the department of

finance I was given various tasks like Count money in cash drawers at the beginning of shifts to ensure that amounts are correct and that there is adequate change. I was made to scan the goods that the consumer wishes to purchase. Weigh items sold by weight to determine prices After all of the goods have been scanned; I had to collect payment for the goods. Make change and hand-out receipts that is the invoice. At the end of the shift I had to record the total amount of the cash received and record in the cash registrar. Calculate total payments received during a time period, and reconcile this with total sales. Compute and record totals of transactions. Keep periodic balance sheets of amounts and numbers of transactions

25/07/2012 to 26/07/2012- SALES In the department of marketing and sales. I was given small tasks like to put the rate list and price tags on merchandise. To help the customers during their purchase. To inform customers about various promotional schemes and discounts at the store. To check the refrigeration, temperature at which perishable merchandise is kept. And I had to check whether all the goods were within the expired date or not and also had to remove the expired goods which were there in the rack. 26/07/2012 to 27/07/2012- HUMAN RESOURCE Though we were not allowed to interfere I the human resorce department , but I was made incharge of noting down how many employees were present in the store and was also incharge of checking whether all the employees has signed in the attendance registrar that is in the morning, afternoon and evening. 28/07/2012 to 30/07/2012 INVENTORY Daily indent of fruits, vegetables and milk products reach by 5:30 to the store we were supposed to keep all the goods in warehouse, we had to note down the goods that have been arrived in the store and a daily record had to be kept. And before the store opens we were supposed to arrange the good in the shelves and rack and update the rates; that is the daily prices to be quoted of the goods. Whenever there is shortage of the certain goods, we had to go to the warehouse and collects the goods

which were of shortage in the store and replace in the rack. So that the customers will have no problem in procuring the goods. 31/07/2012- interaction with the Department head of IT On this day, we were given an opportunity to interact with the department head of IT . Reliance fresh uses SAP and Retalix for its functioning. Retalix is used for front desk billing and SAP is used for all the departments example in inventory, sales, finance, Human resource etc. So far I have not noticed any new technology adapted in the organisation. The IT in-charge provided various inputs regarding the importance of IT in the organisation and its functioning. The advantage of SAP and Retalix in the organisation .The various modules of SAP etc. 01/08/2012- interaction with the Department head of Human Resource We had interacted with the human resource department head Mr Sanjay Agarwal, he had provided information on various aspects of human resource. That is the recruitment process, the policies, payroll system, appraisal system etc. He had further explained the performance appraisal process followed in the organisation applied on the employees etc. Since today was Bonus Wednesday ( super savings offer), that is every Wednesday Reliance Fresh offers products to the customers at a very reasonable price. So since there was u huge crowd seen in the store. We helped in packing the products that is putting the products in the carry bags, providing information to the customers regarding the product and the price rates after discount, and also replacing the empty racks with the products from the inventory. 2ND AUGUST 2012 On this day we interacted with the marketing in-charge, details regarding the price strategy used in the market, discounts and offers on purchase of various products. The marketing strategy used in order to attract the customers. How market research process is done? We even had interaction with sales department employees, they had also provided information on various ways of advertising, and marketing tactics etc. We had also interacted with the Finance department head. Information regarding the costing method used. The use of Retalix software in billing department. The use of SAP and its modules. Details

regarding the balance sheet, its profit and loss. The progress of reliance fresh from the past few years. Though most of the information was shown through powerpoint so detail information was not given.

3RD AUGUST 2012 The head of supply Chain management provided information regarding the supply chain management that is movement and storage of raw materials, work-in-process inventory, and finished goods from point of origin to point of consumption. Details regarding the customer service management process, inventory process, warehousing management, performance management etc. After procuring all the necessary information regarding all the departments we thanked the stores in-charge for letting us work in reliance fresh and letting us know all the details and information regarding the process etc.
