ABSTRACT This project is a standalone automatic fan speed controller for incubator applications that controls the speed of an electric fan according to our requirement. Use of embedded technology makes this closed loop feedback control system efficient and reliable. Micro controller ATMEGA16 allows dynamic and faster control. Liquid crystal display (LCD) makes the system user-friendly. The sensed temperature level is displayed on the LCD panel. It is very compact using few components and can be implemented for several applications. ATMEGA16 micro controller is the heart of the circuit as it controls all the functions. Our projects deals with maintaining constant temperature just like mothers womb in LOW COST INCUBATOR. We have a temperature measuring device, it keeps track of the temperature in the incubator and if internal temperature is high it will exhaust excess temperature by exhaust fan. The speed of the fan is adjusted according to the temperature. If temperature is more fan speed will be high. If temperature is low fan speed is low. Due to non affordability of incubators child mortality is high in AP. We wish to address this issue by developing the incubator. Functioning: A national semiconductor precision temperature sensor is used to detect variation in temperature. The device has 0.5 degree accuracy. The output of the sensor has linear relationship with temperature. It is widely used in medical devices. Unlike thermisters which are non linear, are difficult to calibrate. The output is directly available in degrees temperature for convenience of user. The incubator has facility to set different temperature ranges for different speeds of the fan. This project uses regulated and fully assembled power supply. This project is useful in process industries for maintenance and controlling of Boilers temperature.
