Product Overview
The Dell 4220 Rack is a rack enclosure designed to hold and protect server, network and data storage equipment. The Dell 4220 Rack is a sturdy, practical design and solidly built delivered with legendary service, support and reliability. The Dell 4220 Rack features an array of enhancements over traditional cabinets to address critical power, cooling, and cabling issues of the datacenter. Dell 4220 Racks are designed to be used in any environment, a data center, a remote office, a wiring closet or even a factory floor. The Dell PowerEdge Rack is offered in two capacities, 42U spaces (4220) and 24U spaces (2420). All Dell 4220 Racks adhere to the CEA-310-E standards of 19" for rack mounting of electronics. This means that not only do Dell PowerEdge servers fit in these racks, but also other important networking equipment including Dell PowerVaultTM or Dell EqualLogic and Dell EMC storage, PowerConnectTM or other networking equipment like routers, switches and hubs, or even telephony equipment. Also, built with adjustable mounting rails within the rack, the Dell 4220 Rack is more universal than traditional racks in accommodating multiple types of IT equipment.

Product Features
Power The new Dell 4220 Rack provides more choices in the types and form factors of power distribution units (PDUs) that can be mounted in the rack. In addition to U-space PDU mounting, now the Dell 4220 Rack provides ability to perform tool-less PDU mounting either along side the servers or at very rear of the rack along the doors, the Dell 4220 rack is superior in providing the most choices of PDU mounting locations. In addition, the Dell 4220 provides a superior PDU mounting scheme at the rear of rack. To address the need to mount full-length PDUs (1.7m height) alongside the rear door and the need to keep cables from impeding airflow, the Dell 4220 rack provides maximum distance between the back panels of the server to the PDU outlets, compared to similar sized racks. Cooling The new Dell 4220 rack features doors designed for better airflow with 80% of the doors surface area perforated, the highest perforation rating among the leading datacenter racks sold worldwide. Dell 4220 rack is built with a depth of 1070mm, providing more internal space for hot air to exit the rack compared to traditional racks with depths of 1000mm. At the front of the rack frame, air dams have been included to block hot air from traveling from the back of the server to the front of the server, a thermal issue common among traditional racks. For hot-aisle / cold-aisle thermally efficient datacenter topologies, the footprint of the rack matches standard 2 floor tile placement, optimizing sub-floor cable and cold-air access without conflict. Cabling The total depth of both racks has been increased to 1070mm (from 1000mm) to provide support for deep server dimensions while providing additional space for cable management. Dual side panels on both sides of the rack make accessing cables easier by enabling the top or bottom section to be removed. In addition, the back frame of the Dell 4220 rack features removable tailbars at the top and bottom to remove a common obstacle in routing power and communication cables. The removable tail-bars can be securely re-attached after the IT equipment rack cabling is complete. Strength and Security

The new Dell 4220 rack has a static load rating of 2,500 lbs, far exceeding the weight capacity of traditional 42U racks. No special infrastructure is necessarily required for many installations. The racks ship with either stabilizer bars to secure the rack to the floor, or ganging kits to bolt adjacent racks to each other. With lockable doors at front and rear of the rack, Dell 4220 Racks are designed to be used in any environment, a data center, a remote office, a wiring closet or even a factory floor.
