Question 2 Taman Bukit Hanoi is home to over a hundred people from various backgrounds.

Its residence are mainly adults and elderly while 45 of them are infants and children. Over the past few months, the news that an international company is planning to set up a factory near our housing area has spread around. This news is confirmed by sources from the local authority. From the proposal however, it is obvious that the factory is environmentally hazardous. It will pollute our mother Earth through thermal pollution, chemical pollution, air pollution and noise pollution and therefore disrupts the continuity of residence in the area. In my point of view, personally I am unconvinced that the plant is environmental friendly and should be developed in a region nearby housing area. First and foremost, the specific plants proposal houses the development of pharmaceutical industrial products. Many different biological and chemical agents are discovered, developed and used in the pharmaceutical industry. Through improper waste management, the pollution in pharmaceutical factories is increasing now, it's become obvious that environmental problems should be closely interwoven and treated in concert. Pharmaceutical manufacturing plants generate a variety of wastes during manufacturing, maintenance and housekeeping operations. Through water pollution, the pollutants are discharged directly or indirectly into water bodies without adequate treatment to remove harmful compounds. Polluted drinking water increases the cost to treat the water. Thermal pollution is the rise or fall in the temperature of a natural body of water caused by human influence. A common cause of thermal pollution is the use of water as a coolant by power plants and industrial manufacturers. Elevated water temperatures decreases oxygen levels which can kill fish and affects ecosystem composition. Cities around the world with high exposure to air pollutants have the possibility of children living within them to develop asthma, pneumonia and other lower respiratory infections as well as a low initial birth rate. This is because children are outdoors more and are more susceptible to the dangers of air pollution. High noise levels can contribute to cardiovascular effects in humans, a rise in blood pressure, and an increase in stress, and an increased incidence of coronary artery disease. Chronic exposure to noise may cause noiseinduced hearing loss. Chemical pollution on the other hand has been recognised for decades to have harmed the brain and measures has been taken to reduce exposure to a minimum.

Therefore we the residence of Taman Bukit Hanoi should unite together and ought to protest against the set up of this factory near our housing area.. We should think of the future of our planet and the longevity of the human race. The factory is not appropriate to be build nearby housing area as children can be exposed to chemicals that can cause brain damage. Therefore, we ought to hold a demonstration to show the seriousness of the matter on hand to the government bodies. Apart from holding a demonstration, we have to call the media to do a coverage on the set up of the pharmaceutical factory. Remember always that together we are strong, divided we fall. For the peace and serenity of Taman Bukit Hanoi, support my motion.
