SONG 1 Title : True friend

Artist : Miley Cyrus Genre: Pop We sign our cards and letters BFF You've got a million ways to make me laugh You're lookin' out for me, you've got my back So good to have you around You know the secrets I could never tell And when I'm quiet you break through my shell Don't feel the need to do a rebel yell 'Cause you keep my feet on the ground You're a true friend You're here till the end You pull me aside when something ain't right Talk with me now and into the night 'Til it's alright again You're a true friend You don't get angry when I change the plans Somehow you're never out of second chances Won't say "I told you" when I'm wrong again I'm so lucky that I've found A true friend You're here till the end You pull me aside when something ain't right Talk with me now and into the night 'Til it's alright again True friends will go to the ends of the earth Till they find the things you need Friends hang on through the ups and the downs Cause they've got someone to believe in A true friend You're here till the end You pull me aside when something ain't right Talk with me now and into the night No need to pretend

Live if we really want to Live if we really want to Live if we really want to Live if we really want to JUSTIFICATION: SONG 2

We choose this song for several reasons. First, the genre of this song really explains the lyric about a community of people, and the issues they feel are important to them. We can simply know that folk song covers love and relationships to racism, terrorism, war, voting, education, and religion, among other things. We learn that it is good to use song in the primary ESL classroom as it can gain interest among young learners. Songs are important teaching tools because as most teachers find out, children love listening to music in the language classroom. Children often hold strong views about music and those who are usually quiet can become very talkative when discussing it. From the song, the lyrics expose linguistic structure which the learner can upgrade themselves to a higher linguistic proficiency level. From line 9, The sky is riding above me shows aesthetic feature of song which can provide linguistic development to children. There is also sentence like we were meant for something bigger than this from line 23 that can enlighten their language learning potential as the introduction of new sentence pattern like past tense. Furthermore, pupils are more likely to remember the new words and structures because they are repetitive, meaningful and presented in predictable patterns and larger chunks. The internalization of sounds, words and sentence patterns brings learners a step closer to using these in other contexts. Kirsch (33), for example, argues that when we are planning listening activities we should choose a meaningful text (e.g. story, song, and poem) that suits the cognitive and linguistic needs of pupils and that repetitive texts facilitate listening and remembering. The lyrics from line 4-6 live if you really want to show repetitive value in song that promote language learning potential. The last reason is there are lots of moral values that can be implemented. For example, line 2 rise before you fall can help children to believe that they must not easily give up. The repetitive words like live if you really want to can develop strength of believe in themselves. Overall, purpose of using this song in the primary ESL classroom can be so much fun that children can also find intra and inter personal development through the lyrics.

Isolation quickly overwhelms me Begging for forgiveness, a fallen hand Desolation I now begin to see Hanging by a thin thread, a single strand I watch them Their fears, their misbehaviour Mistreat, abuse. Completely unaware I am the land, their glorious saviour Someday they will learn to treat me with care I wish they would learn to trust each other To join as one, to stand strong together A bond, a band and a mighty brother Forever as one, a powerful tether You may not know, that fear is their captor So you may not see each special factor

: Mary Had a Little Lamb

Author: Sarah Josepha Hale Genre: Nursery Rhyme Mary had a little lamb, Its fleece was white as snow; And everywhere that Mary went, The lamb was sure to go. It followed her to school one day, Which was against the rule; It made the children laugh and play, To see a lamb at school. And so the teacher turned it out, But still it lingered near, And waited patiently about Till Mary did appear. Why does the lamb love Mary so? The eager children cry; Why, Mary loves the lamb, you know, The teacher did reply.

JUSTIFICATION: POEM 2

This poem is interesting to us because young learners are keener to rhythm. The nursery rhyme itself attracts them to enjoy the learning. In advance, nursery rhyme is a best way to fit age of young learners who need some fun in their learning. Too direct learning will make them feel boring. Lesson should be enjoyable and grab their attention. Refer to the poem, the content is merely about what happen in school. It is suitable for young learners to enjoy this poem because they can feel it is near to their life experience. While having fun enjoy reading the nursery rhyme, they can relate the poem in their everyday life. It is important that children have intra and inter personal development through the poem they enjoy to learn. They can be a good reciter or a good listener or both because nursery rhyme makes they want to speak out the rhyme. So it is good for their communication in class and among peers. When children hear nursery rhymes, they hear the sounds vowels and consonants make. They learn how to put these sounds together to make words. They also practice pitch, volume, and voice inflection, as well as the rhythm of language. For example, listen to how you sound when you ask questions. Do you sound different when you tell a story? In the poem, children hear new words that they would not hear in everyday language like Mary had a little lamb, Its fleece was white as snow from line 1-2. From that, they can develop language learning potential and learn more linguistic words. It is also a good medium for them to wider the vocab. In addition, nursery rhyme characters experience many different emotions. This can help children identify their own emotions and understand the real emotions of others. When children act out the nursery rhyme stories they hear, they learn to imagine, be creative, and express themselves.
