AIM: To Study Colour Pattern Generator ST2670 Introduction:

The Scientech ST2670 is one such Colour Pattern Generator specially designed for use of a student or a teacher. It provides 14 essential test patterns necessary to make installations, fast checks and repairs of both monochrome and colour TV receivers. The patterns are chosen by a selectable switch. This instrument is a combination of a pattern generator and colour bar generator. Pattern generator provides video signals direct and with RF modulation on the standard TV channels so that it can be used for testing and alignment of the TV receivers. The video signal is designed to produce simple geometric patterns like vertical bar, horizontal bar, circle, white and 8 colour bar patterns etc. These patterns are quite convenient for alignment of raster geometry and its linearity and also for the video amplifier adjustment. The composite colour video signal at the output of video detector consists of luminance (Y) signal, the chrominance signal, the colour burst, sync pulses and blanking pulses. In practice, the amplitude of video signal is continuously varying due to the changing picture content. Therefore, such a waveform is not useful for adjustment, trouble shooting and study purpose. (1) On/Off-Mains : This switch connects/disconnects power to the pattern generator. An LED indicates when the power is On. (2) Video Output : Fixed video output of 1Vpp (approximately) is at this video socket. Care should be taken to ensure that no voltage is fed into this socket as this may damage the equipment. (3) LED Indicators : Respective LED indicates the type of pattern selected. (4) Pattern Selector : This is a group of two switches used for selecting the requisite pattern. The indicated patterns will be available at the RF and Video outputs. (5) Band Selector Band I/ III : This is a two way switch used for selecting either Band I or Band III of the RF output. (6) RF Output : This is a co-axial output for the RF signal. This output should be connected to the TV using a 75 ohm cable. Application of Outputs : Video/RF Output : The video information of different patterns can be used to check the performance of various video amplifiers, sync separators during service as well development. This video information can also be used to test modulators used in CTV. CONCLUSION:-
