VOICE OVER: Hi, Im Ellie; Im a full time student, part-time sales assistant and always out with my friends. If I struggle to fit my social life around college and work, how do these teens that have babies do it? With my Face book feed full of scans, I want to find out how the miracle of birth affects the teens who didnt ask for it. VOICE OVER: As a girl who cant even look after a plant, Im going to undertake an experiment with an electronic baby to see how Id fair as a teen Mum. CLIP looks like night Presenter tired in video diary saying how tired she feels. VOICEOVER: I will also be speaking to members of the public to see their perceptions of teenaged Mums. CLIP a member of public saying what they think VOICEOVER: Ill be talking to Megan, as a Mum at 15 she struggled with the responsibility it lead to. Ill be finding out how it has affected hers and her parents lives. CLIP What did your parents say when they found out? They didnt speak to me for a week

VOICEOVER: 2010 saw a 1.4 per cent increase in pregnancy rates in England and Wales alone. Thats over 13,000 more conceptions, no wonder babies are everywhere! CLIP of prams/babies VOICEOVER: A new day is dawning in Britain, and with it a new age is being created. The age of Teen-age pregnancy. Britain is becoming the worst for it too. For every 100 babies born to teenage parents in Britain there only 50 in France and just 20 in the Netherlands. CLIP of statistics VOICEOVER/CLIP: Im a student at the 6th form college Solihull, Im 17 years old and all over my Face book feed there are girls my age and younger posting pictures of themselves pregnant. Society has a view of these girls as Vicky Pollards but I know thats not always the case. As a girl who cant even look after a pot plant I want to see how girls my age are coping with pregnancy, babies and college whilst fighting against societies preconceptions about them. VOICEOVER: We went to meet a girl called Megan. Shes just 15 years old and is juggling the prospect of becoming a teenaged, single parent and completing her GCSEs all at the same time! With her baby due in the middle of her exams well be hearing her story about how getting pregnant has affected her relationships with friends, how her family reacted and if completing her education is still a possibility for her. VOICEOVER/CLIP: Ive just met Megan and heard her story, later well returning to her to find out about the abuse shes been receiving since falling pregnant from friends and complete strangers. VOICEOVER: Before that, I want to find out what societies views of teen parents really are, do they assume that theyre all after benefits or do they understand sometimes its just a mistake.Well be asking students at the Sixth Form College Solihull, members of the public and a Sexual Health expert to tell us their views on teen pregnancy and try and answer the biggestquestion; why does it happen? CLIP of public, Solihull sixth form and expert VOICEOVER: Coming up, Ill be speaking to Megan about her friends reaction to the news.
