Key Criteria: 1) SNAME Student membership for at least four (4) months prior to the application submittal deadline 2) Currently be an actively involved member of a SNAME Student Section and be committed to future membership 3) Have passion for naval architecture/marine engineering/ocean engineering as evidenced by the students application essay (not more then 500 to 600 words in length), giving specific evidence of professionalism and involvement in SNAME 4) Evidence of sound academic achievement 5) Recommendations of three (3) professionals at least two of whom must be NA/ME/OE faculty who have had the student in class and at least two of whom are SNAME members.

Application Guidelines and Procedures: 1. Open to U.S., Canadian and International applicants who are actively involved with SNAME and other professional organizations. 2. Society membership is required not less than four (4) months prior to the application submission deadline (i.e. February 1st). 3. Awards are made for one year of study leading to a Bachelors Degree in naval architecture/marine engineering/ocean engineering. 4. Applicants must not receive their Bachelors Degree prior to April 15th of the academic year for which the scholarship applies. 5. A Mandell and Lester Rosenblatt or Robert N. Herbert Scholarship for NA/ME/OE will be awarded to an individual only once. 6. An Application may be obtained by downloading from the SNAME web site. 7. Application and all required supporting information are to be submitted electronically. 8. The application must be received prior to June 1st with all supporting data by June 15th for review by the Scholarships Committee. 9. Recipient selection will be in July based upon Scholarships Committee recommendations and Executive Committee approval. 10. Scholarship funds may be used for student tuition, textbooks and academic fees, or other academically related expenses in pursuit of study or research. Scholarship Value 1. Up to $6,000 for one year of full-time study for each of the named scholarships.

Two of the three letters must be from members of the faculty at your university who have had you in class, and two of the three letters must be from SNAME members.
