Taking up the monumental task of editing the annual college magazine Swarnima of
Jabalpur Engineering College, Jabalpur is not a piece of cake, especially when you are a
second yearite. But then we had been taught, Nothing that is worthwhile is easy. We
were scared in the beginning and only time can tell whether we have lived up to your ex-
pectations or not.
As we started working, we were overwhelmed by the response we received. We really feel
honored and take this opportunity to thank everyone who came forward to be a part of
the team to submit an article, a sketch or may be just a photograph. We were living an edi-
tors worst nightmare; however, we had our faith restored since creativity has never been
a dying art. We went to people asking for their opinions about Swarnima. Whatever is
put on is because that was the wish of the majority. We dedicate Swarnima to all these

Dear Readers,
en rise to the pillars of today's society, continued
to serve humanity with the values collated from
JEC. It is indeed a privilege for me to be an in-
tegral part of the family of this great institution
to see before my eyes the totality of this mis-
sion being continued and handed over from one
generation to the next. Along with academics,
that will unlock the hidden thoughts and tal-
ents in the students. Of all the keys, the college
magazine is the master key that can unlock and
bring forth the creativity of students.
Dear Editors,
I congratulate you for your creative expression
in this issue of Swarnima" which is so unique
and original. In the years to come, I hope and
pray that JEC will continue to leave traces of

We've been hearing this since play school, Never be
afraid to try something new, for remember that, amateurs
built the ark, professionals built the Titanic".
I swear this was the single thought that gave us the power
idea.
Swarnima", the annual college magazine of JEC may
seem to others like an idea yesterday, a reality tomor-
this and I felt it would be interesting to take you through
Swarnima".
Well, it wasn't Swarnima" at that time. It was just Hey
what about a college magazine::" We just said it and then
looked at each other speechless. Finally a voice came out
of silence kaise karange yaar:" and we all gave in those
words. Actually!! How were we going to do it: When
you think about a magazine, 10 other things pop up.
"Likhenge kya:: Articles kahan se aenge:: JEC k bacchhe
likhenge:: JEC k bacche padhenge magazine:: And the
most important of all: Paise kahan se aenge::" And we
were like - Mehnat karni padegi Yaar or else how will we
manage it with upcoming tough semester and the charo
taraf chayi hui garibi!!"
And then the inner voice whispered, Never be afraid to
try something new. Itna to kar sakte hai college k liye".
So then the work started with 7 people in the team. A full

enthusiastic response made us say Yes!! Its working!!"
which died out soon enough when they asked about
our magazine committee. We looked at each other not
knowing what to say, thinking Committee :-O..we never
thought of it!"
And then we ran department to department talking to
people, discussing about the magazine and forming the
Students Committee for the Magazine".
We were so desperate for the idea to be approved that
a large committee of 17 members was formed in just 2
hours. :-D
We felt like winners, smiles all around!! We said Dekha,
apan to sab kar sakte hai!!"
And then suddenly all that happiness and excitement was
the teachers of our department.
You think you smart people will run around the whole
college with the idea of a magazine and do all this at the
stake of missing your classes!!!"
zine had to wait. But can there be people as shameless as
us: Well, No!! We were all back the next day, not back in
magazine committee', outside the college. :-P
We started working out things and wrote an application
to the principal literally begging for an approval.
We went with the application to college the next day, got
it forwarded from Shailja Shukla Ma'am (we knew that
would increase its value :-P) and decided we would go
and talk to Principal Sir. But when we collected to pro-
ceed for the same, suddenly, we stopped, looked at each
other and someone said, Maar k bhaga denge Sir!! He
has lots of other work to do than sitting and listening
when we realized we couldn't do this all by ourselves. We

IF I HAD MY LIFE TO LIVE OVER
If I had my life to live over, I would try to make more
mistakes
I would relax, I know of very few things that I would take
seriously
I would go more places; I would climb more mountains
and swim more rivers
I would eat more ice-cream and less bran
I would have more actual troubles and fewer imaginary
ones
You see, I've been one of those fellows who live prudently
Oh! I've had my moments
But if had it to do all over again,
I would have more of them - a lot more
I never go anywhere without a thermometer, a gargle, a
raincoat and a parachute
If I had it to do over, I would travel lighter
If I had my life to live over, I would pay less attention to
people telling me I must learn Latin or History;
and failed
I would seek out more teachers who inspire relaxation
and fun.
If I had my life to live over I would start barefooted a little
earlier in spring and stay that way a little later in the fall
I would shoot more paper wads at my teachers.
I would keep later hours
I'd have more sweethearts
I would go to more circuses
I would be carefree as long as I could or at least until I got
some care instead of having my cares in advance.
I doubt, however, ill do much damage with my creed.

Wondering who are you:
Oh My God!" I screamed
Not just one but they are two!
Two similar tiny toddlers
Lay in a cradle, crying out loud,
Everyone looked curious, and I:
I got the clue, now I am out!
With naughty motives and misleading innocent features.
And people witnessed the most violent wars,
Between me and my two monsters;
We kicked and scratched and banged the heads,
And awarded 'Itchy scars',
At times I made mannequin of them
And decorated my dolls alive,
But now gone are the days when I could command over,
Now my little cute brothers are sturdy, muscular teenag-

Hidden are thousand secret emotions
Behind that adolescent ego and pride.
Never did I have known, and
Never did they told me so,
How much they care for me and are concerned with my

YOUR LOVE IS MY ONLY GREED
FROM THE TIME I OPENED MY EYES
YOUR FACE WAS WHAT I BEHELD
I FELL ASLEEP LISTENING TO OUR SWEET LULLA-
BY
WHICH ENABLED ME TO DREAM WHAT I
COULD'NT HAVE DREAMT.
YOUR LOVE GAVE ME PROTECTION FROM THIS
EVIL WORLD
ONCE I REALIZED WHAT IS RIGHT AND WRONG
THAT LOVE STOPPED ME FROM GOING ASTRAY
THAT LOVE MADE ME SO STRONG.
IT ENABLED ME TO ACCEPT THE REALITIES OF
LIFE
IT GAVE ME COMFORT WHEN I FELT I AM ALONE.
IF YOU HAD NOT TAUGHT ME WHAT IS RIGHT
I WOULD ALWAYS HAVE BEEN WRONG.
EVEN TODAY WHEN I SEE YOUR AGE
YOUR GRAYING HAIRS ONLY SHOW OUR WISDOM
I FEEL SO PROUD TO BE YOUR DAUGHTER
TO BE A PART OF YOUR KINGDOM.
WHEN I FELL DOWN FOR THE FIRST TIME
WHEN I TOOK MY FIRST STEP
AND WHEN I HAD MY FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL
YOUR HAND WAS WHAT I GRIP!
AS I GREW UP WE GREW FURTHER APART
I STARTED KEEPING MY SECRETS TO MYSELF
EVEN WHE THEY TORE MY HEART APART
AND COMPLETELY CHANGED MYSELF.
MA,THIS WORD IS SO SPECIAL PRECIOUS TO ME
SOMETHING WHICH EVERY WOMEN YEARNS TO
HEAR
NOT CARING THAT SOMEDAY HER CHILD MAY
FORGET HER
NOT CARING HOW MUCH PAIN SHE HAS TO
BEAR.
I WILL NEVER EVEN DREAM OF HURTING YOU
MA,YOU MEAN THE WORLD TO ME
AND IF I HURT YOU IN ANYWAY
THE SAME MAY HAPPEN TO ME.
YOU SPENT YOUR ENTIRE LIFE TAKING CARE OF
US
FULFULLING OUR EVERY LITTLE NEED
THERE IS NOTHING ELSE IN THIS WORLD MORE
PRECIOUS THAN YOU
YOUR LOVE IS MY ONLY GREED.

THOUGH THIS MOUTH WILL ALWAYS SAY
I LOVE DAD MORE THAN YOU
BUT FEEL IN MY EYES MA
THEY WILL ALWAYS SAY I LOVEE YOU, YOU n

and unrealized by many. However the pleasures of being
lively can hardly be exaggerated. Having said that, I don't
want to create an impression that being lively is a part of
some syllabus or some subject of study. Being lively has
more to do with self. It is a communion of self with self. It
comes from somewhere within. And I will go forth to say
that it can act as a remedy to may illnesses of the human
mind such as anger, frustration, fears, regrets, unhappi-
and so on, all intimately related to one another. Or it will
not be wrong to say that dealing with our frustrarions,
regrets etc can introduce us to all that life bubbling inside
us waiting to be realized in all its exuberance and vi-
brance and with time get rid of all those hegative feelings.
Just once we need to feel that life inside us and suddenly
our lives cecome happier. W e suddenly become more
feel in control of ourselves. Control over our minds, over
our actions, over our surroundings. We become leaders;
spreading liveliness around us, talking well to others, be-
ing sure about the way we talk; everything. So the main
question that needs to be answered now is that how do we
feel lively, become lively and hence spread liveliness:
But I have already answered that question. Eliminating
the lowly, inferior feelings of depression, etc is the way to
liveliness.
LIVELINESS IS NOT ABOUT BEING STRONG, IT
IS THE FEELING OF INFINITE STRENGTH, IT IS
NOT STAMINA, BUT THE INHERENT, UNENDING,
SOURCE AS WELL AS FEELING OF ENERGY.

their meanings as in the dictionary. We know these words

had read somewhiere that a charracter or trait is noth-

which also happens to be the theme of Swarnima, 2012.
dency to take a hopefull view of things. Being optimistic,
having a positive attitude towards our day to day things
ing a positive attitude even when circumstances may be
completely depressing may not eliminate the depression
but it will at the atleast give us the strength to tackle it and
ultimately eliminate it. It will give us the hope to come
out of it. And this hope, this optimism is a great mental
strength. It is all that we really have in our life .It is this
hope that acts as the smile keeper on our face. In other
words keeps that life within us alive with all the enthusi-
asm that is there in the world.
Optimism is one among the many traits that will

which can introduce us to that endless world of pleasure,

To the readers the concepts of optimism, happiness,

WHY THE WORLD NEEDS SUPERMAN
It's hard to remember a time before Super
and prejudice was a constant reminder of
the failings of humanity. We fought over land, we fought
over religion, and we found numerous excuses to kill each
other. Religious fanatics spread poison across the planet,
committing acts that went against the teachings they
claimed to uphold.
to us. He didn't use his abilities to conquer us, he used
them to help us. Suddenly the world began to change.
Crime rates went down, nations made peace. Our home
seemed to become a better place to live.
We called him Superman, a savior from beyond the stars,
an alien, who seemed more in touch with what it means
to be human than any of us. Lois Lane claimed that the

prize-winning article.
lieves that we had become too dependent on the Man of
Steel and perhaps she was right. But the blame doesn't lie
with Superman, it lies with us. Superman never claimed
to be a savior; he never called himself a hero. We are the
ones who put him on a pedestal, who called on him to
save us time and time again.and he did so, without ask-
ing for any reward or recognition.
Many people resented him for leaving, believing that Su-
perman was their property to use whenever they wished.
Yes, we learned to fend for ourselves once he was gone,
but that doesn't mean we didn't need him anymore.
ers, doctors, the police. And they are heroes. But teachers
policeman to walk the beat every day of his life without
food or rest and nor should we expect the same of Super-
man.
Even with Superman around, people still died, disasters
still happened. He couldn't be everywhere at once. But
with Superman watching over us, people that should have
died were saved and many disasters were prevented. We
never expected Superman to show up at every single dis-
aster. We knew that, despite his amazing abilities, he was
still just one man. We hoped that he would be there, but
we still approached situations under the assumption that
he wouldn't. We didn't lose our survival instincts as you
suggest Ms. Lane, we carried on as normal and Superman
lent us a helping hand when he could.
He never said he was a god or a divine being. In fact,
in many of the articles you wrote Ms. Lane, you quoted
Of course it's impossible to ignore the fact that Superman

need him. Without doctors, people would get sick and
die. Without teachers, our children would be uneducated
and have little or no future. And without Superman, hope
disappears.
Yes, we do depend on him in some ways and perhaps we
shouldn't. But we do need him, if only to show us the pos-
sibilities of our future. Wars stopped when he was around,
but Superman didn't stop them. We did. In fact, Super-

peace, but he didn't do it for us.
When he returned, the world embraced him with open

We need Superman, not to solve the world's problems, but
as an example of what we can become if we endeavor to
solve them ourselves. If he continues to help us, stopping
great tragedies from occurring, then we should be grate-
ful, but we shouldn't raise him to the level of a god
23
And if Superman should decide to call it a day and
wrapped up in our own misguided perceptions of reality.
Superman never made us forget how to survive on our
own. He didn't spoon-feed us with political statements.
He saved us because he wanted to, not because we told
him to. He is a symbol of what we can become and that's
why we need him.
Someday, he may leave again and if that happens, we must
make sure that we don't blame him for our own failings.
If he leaves, we should use his legacy to inspire future
generations, not use his departure as an excuse to drown
ourselves in misery.
Why does the world need Superman: For the same reason
people believe in God. To have the courage to do things
ourselves, while knowing that there is someone there,
watching over us. He may not always come when there's
danger, but just knowing he's out there, somewhere gives
us the strength to be greater than we think is possible and

GIRLS DESTINY
All these years passed so quick
I dont remember
When did I become so big
Yesterday only I played in the lanes
So many games
Slept for long and now
That time is gone
Now I have to leave my house
Just because I met my spouse
To add a person into my life
As I am going to be a wife
How do I forget who all I loved
And allow my memories to be rubbed
For I know I will have sleepless nights
As my mother wont be there to sing me a lala-bye
My father wont be there to support me
And my siblings wont be there to help me
And who will teach me the right
But this is a girls destiny
To tolerate the worlds scrutiny
To give a new plant of the same species
But I have to be happy
As my parents are
For their sake
I will bid them a good bye
With a smile on my lips and
Tears in my eyes.

Iv seen so much of life.
So many people did I meet
I may spend hours and hours with them
and still feel incomplete
I'v had good times with others
Yes I'v seen it all through
But there could be no times as glorious as
Back to those days when I was 2
When I dint even have a name
I would come running at your call and hug your legs
I feared nothing 'cause I knew
You dint fear anything as well
And I knew if something comes over me
To guard me you'll be there
And then I grew a little bigger
I made friends outside world
And I would talk about them all day
And you sat smiling at all my words
I would come back home crying sometimes
Of trusting people like fools

And family dinner post that
How easy you made it to forget everything
Within hours my smile was back
For all those times when I was super happy
Were for all of it that you do
Cause there could be no times as glorious as
And then those times when I grew some more
To feel I was big enough
To feel that I could take care of myself and
Dint need you anymore for the work
But I was wrong I knew, from the very beginning
Cause the world outside was so mean
You were someone I always did need
My Pa was my strength for all the times I fell
Ma's arms were the safest place in the world
And for all the good things that I may be today
It was from you all of it that I learned
What my heart did feel about you
Cause for me it was so hard to imagine
My luck for having in my life, you two
How would I say I love you" Maa
For loving me was all that you ever did.
You've helped me be strong since I was a kid
I know these days I may be busy
And all those times will always be cherished

HUNGRY THINKING
Everyone asks me, What is your wish:"
I stop for a moment
And all that comes to my mind is a sweet dish
Someone asks me again, For what you are awake:"
I again think for while
And all that comes is a big cake
Another one asks me about my mood
I quietly reply,
It's already booked for Chinese food."
Some want to know what I feel when I'm sentimental
I tell them,
Some of them ask me about my aim in life
I always say,
Cutting a big pizza with my sharp knife."
Finally they wish to know the most important person I
need
I gently reply,
It's a cook who'll get me feed."

It may be eye opener for the parents who thinks that the
failure in
IIT- JEE is end of the road
.A kid who was born ,
Never knew that there were thousands more...
Who came in with him to make it all from heaven to
hell.....
Neva knew will be pushed to a blatant race...
Where the defeat stands no meaning!
Where the infancy ends and innocence soiled...
Enthusiasm careened under loads of ambitions...
Most of which was never asked.
But the kid was always, forcibly basked...
Dreaming of the day he last smiled...
And shoveling a sandy, vulnerable world.
Where expectations were zilch and competitions termed
fatuous...
A world in which a sapling could rise,
Without worrying for a possible demise...
But then it all fades away...
With all the ease and invective glam,
As he was made to sit in the JEE exam...
Few made it, he can't,
and was made to recant...
From the faith he imbibed...
In all his thoughts and open blue sky...
Crushed till throat, as he swallowed the last gulp of
wind...
Hell and life...so intertwined!
?
People, they asked with lugubrious remarks,
As it all turned blue and none but an elegy...
And all he could do was to lament his birth...
Seemed if IIT was the only thing to live for and
die::::::::
You go in you laugh or else you just cry::::::
But then came a voice, so strident so divine...
Its not the name, but in you who is the might!
Its no one else, but you who sets it right!

DREAM OR YOU
It's been a life that I haven't seen somebody like you,
Or may be it's a dream I am still in to.
Even when I portrait you before others too,
May be it's my ignorance when it comes to you,
Or may be my previous birth prayers 've come true.
Being with you I can't make out what to do,
But then I convince my heart saying that it's just another

HOP E
I leaned upon my fencing gate,
Pondering upon the landscape my eyes set
A cold and chilling, wintry day this,
Back home from work, miles away,
All hassles and tireless disturbances at bay,
But eyes so used to city's loud shouts,
Seemed quite awkward at the silence hereabouts
Months ago, the path with grass so green
I saw our life, its course unfolding here,
A moment of joy success and no fear,
And a wink later all lost all gone,
Sorrow and gloom, devoid of frolic and fun.
I was immersed in my thoughts so gloomy,
A sharp shrill broke from a tree.
I raised my eyes and what I saw,
Perched high in a branched barren,
29
Surely it missed everything, the plenty!!
But it was happy for what the future would be
Yes, everything looks hopeless now, but spring will come
again
I learnt a priceless lesson, amidst such depressing air,
Of certain HOPE of which, I had always been unaware.

To be me with no disguise to wear
To live with no regrets for not being someone else.
I just want my one day,

To make my parents proud
To make it the best day of my life.
I just want my one day,

To love like its destination

Passion is the ability to focus on your aim, the capacity

a vision so vivid that you are inspired to go beyond the
horizon ant to courageously pursue your passion because

special. Trodden paths and tried tasks give little satisfac-
tion. Life becomes more challenging when you are sure
neither of what would be the outcome of a task that you

Confessions Of A Foodie
A colourful platter of crisp onions, red
tomatoes, fresh radishes, the cool cucumber,
pink turnip and what not! I hope that you can
visualize a platter in your mind, as splendid as the one
in mine and feast on the thought. It looks no less than a
beautiful painting I say, but even more. I say this because
a beautiful art on the canvas may soothe the eyes and
please the mind but food that has been cooked well and
served with impeccability soothes all the other senses as
well. Does not our heart jump with joy on hearing the
name of our favourite dish. I derive no regret in saying
that I love food to the extent that I could eat all day long
(unfortunately my appetite does not allow me to do so). It
is true! Eating good food is a luxury and the Foodies, well
we could call them a cult.
But in this era of awareness, it is extremely important that
we exercise caution about diabetes and other diseases
related to the heart. Butter, red meat, cream cheese, fried
potatoes, Maggi noodles may all make the heart happy
clog the heart as well. It is a universal fact and no matter
what, we cannot run away from it. Yes, I confess that I
cannot remember, or shall I say I cannot count the num-
ber of times I have been to the ice-cream parlour during
recess and relished the so called Fun Foods". But I have
decided to make amends and turn into a new leaf. And
here I am to share my thoughts with one and all.
I would certainly not suggest anyone to quit eating the
Fun Foods" we love so much, but it would be certainly
be advisable to consume them in moderate quantities.
Tabulating the nutritional values of the popular food
items would be a futile exercise in my point of view, be-
cause it has been done before and young people care the
least about it.
Well! Let us start from the basics. According to research-
ers, for every kg of weight in our body we need 1.3
calories per hour. So, the daily calorie requirement for a
person who weighs around 30 kg would be 1360 calories.
One word that nutritionists love to talk about is trans
fats. One can come across this word in news papers,
term all I knew was that it has a generous dose of hydro-
gen atoms and is to be avoided, no matter what the cost.
Trans fatty acids are produced through a manufacturing
process in which hydrogen atoms are appended to liq-
products and is very appealing to our taste buds as well.
trans-fats, the latter is the clear winner( I say this because
it is a bigger villain of the grim picture). Unsaturated fats
increase the levels of LDL( bad cholesterol) in our heart
but trans-fats goes one step further and adds more to our
misery. It not only clogs the heart with bad cholesterol
but also lowers the level of good cholesterol( called HDL)
Ever since I had learnt about the above facts, it became
customary for me to check the trans fats labels on the
packets of my favourite snacks, be it Lays, Maggi noodles,
Aloo bhujia and so on. To my delight, Haldiram Aloo
bhujia and Top Ramen noodles had 'ZERO TRANS-FAT'
levels( well, that's what their bold labels asserted). I was
in for a treat. But my happiness was short-lived. Accord-

trans fats related facts on their labels. For instance, a 100
gram serving of Top Ramen noodles contained 0.7 gram
of trans fats, while the same amount of Haldiram Aloo

abrupt spiking of sugar levels and simultaneously lowers
the levels of bad cholesterol. In spite of the above nutri-

It cannot be stored for more than 3 to 3 months else it
would develop a rancid odour and taste( the fact simply

a higher nutritional value it is much costlier than white

I know that it would be an unreasonable on my part to
ask everyone to quit consuming white rice altogether and
switch to the brown variety but at the least we should be
aware of what is going down our food pipes and ensure
that it is consumed in moderate amounts.
And let us not forget the ice-cream. Being a huge fan

to part ways with it. But for all those who are calorie

cream should ideally contain 3 grams of fat, 13 grams of

less than 10 mg of cholesterol.

THE TUNNEL
driven through the ground , but I'm giving a try to brief
the LIFE underneath it.
Entering into the teenage, add new colours to a girl's life;
friends, crushes etc eventually become the centre point
in one's life. Life seems like revolving around these small
obsessions which aren't really as relevant as they seem to
be.Same happened to me.
A nearby gossip queen or in decent words, my so-called
good new friend became the topper of my priority list
.Lip glosss replaced Vaseline. And silly billy girls seemed
more important than the angel who brought me to this

cence possessed by me. But what did'nt change was the
angel of my Paradise on Earth. Maa directed me to the
brightness approaching me and stealthily, silly billy girls
were replaced by awesome blossom adorable friends &
family. And then smile became a natural part of my face.
Eighteenth b'day brought the overhauling of academics.

my destiny. But the intense wave of studies seemed deadly
to me. Another tunnel came across my way.
From my past experience, if you're made to be seated
regularly in mid of the whiz ids or the great future II-

inferiority within you and inferiority comes with the
consolation of depression. And progress reports with no
damn progress simply adds cherry to that cake of depres-

Took a drop, and studied harder not for my parents , nor
for my nossy relatives but for myself.Gradually ,darkness
was replaced by the dazzling sunshine.
New college, cool new friends inclined my life towards
perfection.Mass bunks (G.T to be more precise), chats on
social sites, special liberties for a good going girl became
the part of this perfection. But somehow , somewhere
something seems missing .Some questions are still un-
answered. And this absence through me is like a thread
through a needle, and everything i do is stitched with its
colour.
Perhaps I 'm into another tunnel, but it is'nt horrifying
me anymore because our eyes need to be washed with
our tears once in a while, so that we can see life with a
clearer view again.....

TUL lhbTATLD LPl bT!L
I sit here tranquilly listening to it swooshing out and in.
Appears to me it has so much to say,
It has brought notes and talks with it all along its way.
Listen to its silent rhyme,
Serenely, it coveys the communication so divine.
Hardness and rash turning the silence to naught.
Heavy strong rains might be on their way.
Much awaited rhythm wanted by one and all,
Cooling the temperature, comforting the big and small.
Exquisite beats of drops of rain,
Bathe the green trees; infuse the planted soils of plain.
Beats of heart and rains coinciding.
Each drop falls bit by bit on the earth,
Quenching the deepest and the long thirsts.
I wish to get drenched; the sound is so alluring,
Drenching in water gives the sense of pains healing.
Drip drop, they get down on me,
True it is; the sounds and drops touch each nerve.
Letter it brings from the heart, can only be heard
Tip top, drip drop the rain slows down,
bound.
Dark clouds fade away with the rain.
Hardness and rage were just a show,
To welcome the awaited rains winds altered their blow.
I listen to the wind whisper to get the note for me just

MASS STARVATION
becomes an auspicious day for each and everyone related
to the neonatal. But, in the last week of September 2011
the birth of 7 billionth children became the matter of
serious concern that drew attention of scientists, ecolo-
gists and environmentalists all over the world. All were
confronting the ultimate question - will earth be able to
hension was genuine as recent studies and analysis points
to just one fact that a mass starvation is imminent and the
planet is on the verge of devastation.
People across the world tend to believe that things
are getting worse than it ever was. A recent UN report
supports the claim of Malthusian fraction of environ-
mentalists that by 2040 the world population would be
9 billion and if resources are not conserved through an
evergreen revolution, 3 billion people will wither under
grinding poverty. We all are very much aware of the fact
that pollution level now days is high as compared to
pre-technological era. Resources are exploited at much
a question arises regarding our planet support to an ever
increasing population.
On this very fundamental and momentous issue
environmentalists are broadly divided into two fractions,
of which one is apprehensive of our future (the Malthu-
sian group) while the other one keeps a positive view on
the same.
Robert Malthus was a British economist who pro-
fessed that An ever increasing population would one day
outrun the available resources , mass starvation would
arrested by famines would become constant . Modern
day Malthusians argue that rising population , industri-
alization , resource depletion , food security and envi-
ronmental pollution will soon become even more of a
threat to mankind. It is held that statistical data over last
few years substantiate their claim. According to them the
planet would no longer be able to support the population.
On the other hand we have some optimistic economists
.who argue that with the advancement in technology the
this fraction of economists view population as an assets
rather a curse, a view that was unheard of before.
African economist Leon Louw points out that the
intellectuals rarely consider Holland , Monaco , Britain
overpopulated. Africa, on the other hand, is considered
overpopulated when it has the lowest density of popula-
but on the fact that many populated nations have not
resorted to industrialization. As a result they are looked
down as poor nations.

Malthus' claims are not even close to being materialized.
People are better fed than ever. Per capita food produc-

the environment itself. Self-interested human activity, in
the environment. However there are many who do not
subscribe to either of these views and have a view point
that is somewhere In between these two radically oppo-
site world views. For us to resort to either view , it is es-
sential to understand that as far as nation opt for indus-
trialization through an evergreen revolution , population
does not seems to be scary but the day it deters , a horri-
fying , dark future is waiting where nearly 3 billion people
will die of starvation. Hence, go green guys!!!!

WHAT TO DO
NEXT?
Most common question among all of us
WHAT TO DO NEXT". In each phase of our life we
went through this question what will be my next step,
which subject should I take Maths, Bio or Commerce.
Many options, confusions and advice were given to us.
tion arises in same way What to do next:" In life in each
point we face this same question hundreds of times and as
soon as we get its answer, it is ready to be answered again.
As when we gave IIT-JEE, AIEEE and many other bunch-
es of competitive examinations, a question about college
was ready. Now, here in college we all are moving in our
life in hundred of styles. Each person has his own interest,
his own value which gives him his own image. Likewise
way of question will also become multiple. For someone,
Who is interested in making money early and wants to do
job, will take this question as Where to job: Which pack-
age: Which company: And even How to get it:
With it a person who is interested in studying more or
don't like to do job so early or may even thinks learning
more will provide better job. Will ask what to do next -
CAT, MAT, GATE and dozens of options.
And at same time many of us, due to family pressure or
self interest may go through question in a slightly dif-
ferent manner like to whom to get married and is she is
mine soul-mate or life partner and then again What to
do next:" will be the question in another next phase.
tion, we need advice, proper guidance and perfect wis-
have his own point of view .So, which will be the best way
to get best answer about ours life. Asking friends: Asking
teachers: Asking parents: Whom::: As question is our
own, even problem is our own and the consequences will
also be our own and cannot be shared. So, best decision
will also be ours own. What we want will be answered
by ourselves ,our own soul .It will always give you cor-
rect verdict as it is you whose question it is & eventually
whose life it is .So, each time when you are called for
question What to do next :", just close your eyes and you
will get your answer thyself.

The Day
before my
examination
I forgot to eat, I forgot to play. For the next day was my
exam day.
When I thought about it hardly could I eat be it cake,
chicken or sweet.
I groaned and moaned but no-one seemed to hear, I
struggled hard, in spite of those fears.
So hard I labored, so hard I read. Yet in the end I felt,
empty was my head..

What is a prayer: It is a way of communicating with our
subconscious mind directly. Psychologist say that prayers
do wonders because people believe in them. For someone

yehi 1 topic choda tha and vohi agaya. Lag gaye ab to.."
But den if u have prepared well enuf, d next few questions
appear familiar and u get some encouragement. Finally
expect 2 get in each question and on totaling dem u get

aa hi jayenge" .. But ur too soon in making such feel
good inferences" .. coz abhi to bas pitch report mili hai k
its batting friendly. V havnt started batting yet. Answers
likhna to abhi start bhi nahi kiya bete.. Musibat ani to
abhi baki hai.. 60-70 marks!! - dil ko behlane k liye ye
khayal bhi achha hai!!! :D Den d writing begins. Soon
v realize dat d questions which appeared easy rnt as easy
to ACTUALLY answer dem: yar padha to tha ye par
kuch yad hi nahi araha .. sare topics ki khichdi ban rahi
time. Clock ticking!!! Suddenly u recollect something but
as soon as ur about 2 write, d invigilator comes for check-
ing d entries and signing d ans sheet and hell.. u again
forget wat u jus recollected. But anyhow .. batti to de hi
sakte hain. And v continue writing. Beautiful handwrit-
ing, neat and labeled diagrams, underlines etc. Den 1st
look at d clock.. OMG.. almost 1 hr gone and just 1 ques-
tion done .. :O :O" scares d hell out of us.
Den v start speeding up things, search for questions
in which less matter is to be written, and attempt dem 1st
.. and start writing less in detail. D only concern .. catch
up with time. D time pressure makes us forget things al
d more. And den with degrading quality of answers, our
initial estimate of 60-70 drops to around 30.
1 n a half hrs gone, 2 questions done. Now m sure this
thing must have happened wid al of u at least 1ce: jis
question k dono parta ate hain usme choice hia and jiska
bas 1 hi ata hai usme no choice" . sometimes wen ders
a choice and v kno both d options, its an awkward situa-
favour of not d 1 which wil get more marks but d 1 jo
jaldi ho jaye :P :P
Another awkward situation is a choice b/w a numeri-
cal and theory question .. attempting a numerical is a
gamble.. sahi gya to aish .. galat gya to waat lagi!!! Dis
decision completely depends on HOW DARING U R!!!
some go for d risky but more rewarding numerical"
while others like playing it safe by answering d theory
question .. 10 me se atleast 7-8 to mile!!! :P
43 mins remain .. ur hands start paining and u get
a little lazy in writing. Go out for water .. etc etc. but u
notice ur classmates busy writing at a speed of 100 WPM
(words per minute) and u get a complex .. u say 2 urself

Dream your Journey

Yesterday is beyond repair, tomorrow may never come.
Today alone is yours. Make the best use of it, as it is your
sole sure possession. Doing right thing in the right way
and at the right time will produce results you want and
deliver the goods. Try to develop control over your at-
titude, approach, aptitude, appearance, words and voice,
you, ring wedding bells and do not sound funeral chimes.
Appreciate what others do for you and make the apprecia-
tion come from your heart. People work for appreciation
and recognition. Everyone wants for an enthusiastic and
and talker next. It is better and wiser to listen with inter-
est when you have the urge to talk. Become and remain
an enthusiastic and interesting listener and encourage
other person to talk. One learns and gets to know by
listening; on the other hand one only exposes oneself by
talking. You get the advantage when you listen and lose it
when you talk.

Words move people. Let us use them to build up peo-
ple, to make them feel better, feel important, feel big and
happy. Even without worldly wealth it is possible for you
to be generous because your powers are invisible and un-
give and smile to everyone you meet and you will smile
and give a kind word and you will receive kind words.
Give honor, credit and applause and you will receive the
same. Give hope, happiness and encouragement, you'll be
happy with hope and courage. Give prayers to the godless
and you'll receive blessings more than you deserve.

What do you want in life: You might say you need to
wealth, power, fame, to serve the nation, people and
man activity is to attain happiness. Hence always avoid
causing pain and try to add to an individual's pleasure
and others will seek your company.
To
be successful, you must invest your resources wisely. Re-
sources include money, men, material, time and energy.
save the way for enduring success in life. In life's journey

Our greatest glory is not in never failing but in rising
every time we fall. Little minds are tamed and subdued by
misfortune but great minds rise above it. Meet every ad-
verse situation and don't let it master you. In our history
Raja Ramchandra and Raja Harishchandra etc even faced
adversities, and then we are just simple human beings.
One man with courage can make a majority and create
history as demonstrated by Mahatma Gandhi.

Another important aspect of success is your will power.
Sooner or later the man wins is the man who believes he
can. Hence, the strength of your will power will ultimately
stacle or challenge and with optimism and hope, you can
crown yourself with success. Success is not merely a ques-
tion of luck or genius. To attain your cherished dream
true, if tension and worry are weapons, you are them to
commit slow suicide.

be completed within deadline and I understand how im-
portant it is for that company. Since I am a fresher to your
company I may be a little slower in doing the work when
compared to others already working in the company. So

GIVE BLOOD GIVE
LIFE

Had you been thinking of JEC just
being an institute of academics and at
times an assembly of some technologi-
cal events only,then lets acknowledge
ourselves with something more ethi-
cal done by our college each year, and
that being the privilege hosts of The
Blood Donation Camp.
The respective camp is held by
the coordination of the department
of Industrial and Production in
collaboration with the Victoria hospital,
Jabalpur as well as the Netaji Subhash
Chandra Bose Medical Hospital. The
camp has always been a vibrant exam-
ple under supervision of Dr. Prakash
Verma, head of the Industrial and Pro-
duction Department.
Students from all over Jabalpur, car-
rying identity of 18+ are allowed to
participate and donate blood to the
blood banks. The enthusiasm and com-
mitment with which they have been
participating these years has been very
inbuilt in todays generation is none
less than the fact for which our culture
has always been considered.
The event is well synchronized be-
tween the students of the department
which sets a perfect example of work-
ing as a team. Each individual handles
the responsibility given to him or her
with utmost dedication.
the broadness of the event.196 units of
blood collection is a great achievement
in itself. We always wish the number
of donors increase as multiples, after
all even a single drop may save a life.

It is so very true that college life is undoubtedly the best
part of your life. And there are those small little moments
with friends, those scolding sessions with the teacher,
those days of staying up in the hostel all night and party-

dance steps invented in the Freshers and Farewells, those
code languages that only your lot understands, panick-

But it doesn't stay forever. We grow, we become graduates
we don't get to see those friends for years.
And then the moment comes when you hear about the
of you, at the same place where you started the journey.
No matter in which part of the world you are, you rush
down to Jabalpur 'cause you don't want to miss this.
You may have changed. You may have a family now. But
somehow the two days of the Silver Jubilee celebration
makes you forget that and takes you back to those days
when you were those awesome dudes and dudettes at col-

those two days.
You roam around in the college and tell your children,

Gold has always held importance as a good investment
proposition since the days of our ancestors. But the recent
trends of day-light robbery, murders and greed for the

Yes, many of you are not aware of this wonderful and se-

ETF stands for Electronic Traded fund. Gold ETF is the
medium for investing in gold with the purity level of
price of the share depends on the company's growth and
the index of stock market whereas ETF never depends
on the index. Its price is decided by the rate of gold in the
international market. As it is traded on a stock exchange
you will require a Demat account and a trading account
registered with some genuine stock brokers.
Gold ETF is afar better way of investing in gold as com-
pared to investing in physical gold in many aspects. Price
of physical gold is decided by the gram amount of your
purchase while gold ETF is traded by the price of a unit.
Generally the price of a unit is equal to the price of 1
gram gold. Hence Gold ETF is a very good investment
tool for small traders and even for students like us as the
If we talk about the safety level, then also Gold ETF takes
a lead over the physical gold as we are not dealing with
the precious yellow metal in hand instead its virtual gold.
Hence the lack of knowledge to identify the purity of gold
will not be a hindrance in your investment. Gold ETF is
also advantageous from the point of view of the storage of
gold as it can easily be stored in the Demat account. It is
in the form of a contract in the Demat account.
Also, whenever we feel like converting the Gold ETF into
liquid cash we can easily do so by selling it over the stock
exchange and that too in real time price. Another advan-
tage of it for the income tax payee is that it is treated as

GSM, CDMA Then Whats
next?
Since the beginning of the 20th century, technolo-
gies have evolved remarkably to provide new methods
and products for wireless communications. Especially
in the past two decades, wireless communication ser-
vices were penetrating into our society with an explosive
growth rate. We all are habitual to use cellular and mobile
systems and in fact eager to avail most of the facilities in
our handsets like- video conferencing, television, internet
access, image data transaction, audio and video capture,
task in wireless communication system is how to transmit
techniques like TDMA, FDMA, CDMA, OFDM, IDMA
etc. You all are aware the name GSM or CDMA but do
mobile systems using these multiple access techniques,
by the fact that they are all based on the analog technolo-
system operates on multiple-access technique frequency-
division multiple-access (FDMA) technique. FDMA sepa-

sentatives of 1G cellular system are the Advanced Mobile
Phone System (AMPS) in USA, Nordic Mobile Telephone
(NMT) in Scandinavia and the Total Access Communica-
tion System (TACS) in UK.. With the introduction of 1G
system, the worldwide mobile market experienced an-
nual growth rates of 30 to 30 and there are nearly 20

increasing the amount of data carried. While each con-
versation is transmitted alternately over short lengths of
time with TDMA technology, And CDMA is multiple

channel without causing interference because the signal is
divided into multiple time slots. CDMA separates com-

into the same channel. CDMA is actually multiple people

- 4G uses the orthogonal frequency-division multi-

OFDM is a type of digital modulation in which a signal
divides channels into time slots and has multiple users
take turns transmitting bursts or CDMA, which simulta-
neously transmits multiple signals on the same channel.
Usually orthogonal and non orthogonal approaches are in
combination like-
1. ORTHOGONAL APPROACHES- ( FDMA,
TDMA, OFDMA, ORTHOGONAL CDMA)
2. NON-ORTHOGONAL APPROACHES- (RANDOM

Certainly the future approach will be hybrid access tech-

youtube, you would have used it up, 'Sarcastic', actually,
most cellphones don't transmit HD video because HD is
just a higher resolution (1920x1080 for full 1080P HD)
while most cellphones with screens like the Iphone's, have
a maximum resolution of 640x480 (Actually, it can go
much higher, but this is it's native resolution, so it is im-
practical to go any bigger...) I could understand if you use
your 3G network for internet on a computer.....Because
for a computer, 3G is SLOW!!! So.... the point is that, for
normal cell phone usage, 4G is impractical, but, if you
use the 4G network on a computer it will be our need. So,

Li-Fi
Forget Wi-Fi connect to the in-
trnet through bulbs its.... Li-Fi
familiar to this, it uses 2.4-3 GHz radio frequency to
deliver internet access around wide area. Light-
technologies in terms of communication speed,
method of communication in which we transmit data
using visible light region of electromagnetic spectrum
with the help of LEDs. So by Li-Fi you attain data
transmission by using your simple light resources.
So you can now connect to internet whereever you
even on the roads and almost everywhere because there
are rare places where light is not present.
Now visible light::::: why:::
We have more than 1.4 million cellular radio base stations
worldwide and 3billion cellular phones
transmitting more than 900 terabyte of data/month.Wire-
less communication has become utility like
water and electricity in our private and business life. But
& availability , RF waves are limited & expensive it doesn't
satisfy our demand of our such high
usage (900 TB/month) and we only have certain range of
base stations consume only 3 of energy to transmit
radio waves other 93 is used to cool these
have 40 billion light bulbs, light is part of
the electromagnetic spectrum.
Ultra-violet, X-rays & Gamma rays are harmful for
human body, Infrared is used at lower levels and
Radio waves which we use are prone to interference
and distortions. In middle there we have the visible
light spectrum. Light is being used from millions of years,
it has created us, it has created life world
most amazing factor that comes out when
we compare, the spectrum of light wave is that it is 10000
times wide than the radio waves
spectrum, so in this way we have far more wide spectrum
available for communication. Now
compare the resources we have 1.4 million expensive base
technology we have 40 billion light bulb installed already
everywhere so we have the infrastructure ready already.
Light as a mode of communication....see how...
We all know about LED and of its very interesting prop-
erty that its intensity can be modulated at
very high speed, it can be switch ON-OFF at very high
speed that even human eye can't detect, this
fundamental property is used in the Li-Fi technology. Just
the same way as the TV-remote there's a
single infrared LED which blinks when we press the but-
ton or transmit the data from remote to TV
similarly in Li-Fi we replace single infrared LED by
source with many LED's in visible region and
we exchange thousands of data streams parallel at more
to SIM-OFDM.Now we only have to do one thing is that
other light sources by LEDs to get into using Li-Fi.
Still using Wi-Fi.... switch to Li-Fi..
With this we have solved many issues of Wireless com-
munication. Using radio waves capacity ,
ditional opportunity is arising by using
current state-of-the-art LED lighting solutions at the
same time and with the same module. One of
the biggest attractions of Li-Fi is the energy saving of LED
technology. 20 of the worldwide
electricity is used for lightning. Assuming that all the light
bulbs are replaced with LEDs one billion
barrel of oil could be saved every year , which again trans-
lates into energy production of 230
nuclear power plants. Most important feature of Li-Fi is
speed of communication we can attain 1.23
GB/sec speed of data exchange. It means you can send full
HD movie of 3GB in 4 sec. From one
device to another by this technology. If we work in this
way in future you must have 40 billion
light sources with data communication, so data commu-
nication will be everywhere in very low cost.
Technology on the verge of breakthrough...
First applications of Li-Fi has been put to use already in
hospitals where RF signals are a threat due
to interference problems with medical equipment such as
blood pumps and other life supporting
instruments. Axiomtek Europe presented such a product
at the Embedded World exhibition in
with an incorporated VLC(visible light
communication) system was presented by Casio at the
consumer electronic show in Las Vegas in
January this year. In the Li-Fi products entering the mar-
ket, both in the industrial as well as
consumer markets.

lives on the life force of quality . So here we are coining a
new term QUALITY MANAGEMENT . When thought
about it in depth it includes much more than just wrap-

catchy music and attractive personas. Mr.W. Edward
Deming ,the father of quality management gave System
of Profound Knowledge which generates an interrelated
set of 14 points for leadership and management in west-
ern world. Similarily other organizations and renowned
persona gave their own tools for measuring the param-
eters of quality management viz. Kaizen , Taguchi's loss
function , ISO , TPM , six sigma etc.
Level of quality in earlier days belonged to the inspec-
tion department . Now since the concepts and ideas get
obsolete with time inspection is usually ignored. Product
quality is now monitored on a constant basis in continu-
side but it is quite a challenging job to keep everything
around you in perfect condition. Fine tuning of various
techniques has led to a general idea of improving the
process gradually without complete re-engineering which
forms the basic ideology of Kaizen.
Improving the process gradually leads to decrease in
relentless and rigorous pursuit of the reduction of vari-
ation in all critical processes to achieve continuous and
breakthrough improvements that impact the bottom line
of organization increasing customer satisfaction forms
the concept Six- Sigma . Six-Sigma ,a registered trade-

made it attractive and catchy. I will make a walkthrough
of the Golden Ratio and you too will surely fall for this
secret number.
Do we all know about Fibonacci Numbers and the vast
applications it has: Yes we do!
1, 1, 2, 3, 3, 8,13, 21, 34, 33, 89....
Now divide each of the numbers with their predecessors.
1/1 = 1, 2/1 = 2, 3/2 = 1.3, 3/3 = 1.667, 8/3 = 1.600, 13/8 =
1.623, 21/13 = 1.613, 34/21 = 1.619, 33/34 = 1.618, 89/33
= 1.618 .and so on!

Continuing the basics of webpage designing here I am
with one of the most important task before actually cod-
ing the whole Page. Its Layout-ing the whole page.
For Example, consider the page/site as your study table's
top, now books take a certain area or space then comes
your pen/pencil holder then there is separate space for
notebooks. So basically the desktop is divided into divi-
sions accordingly. Similarly a webpage also has divisions
(created by <div>.</div> tags of HTML). Generally a
webpage is divided into three basic divisions to ease cod-
divisions are:
- HEADER
- CONTAINER
- FOOTER
generally contains the TITLE or HEADING of the WEB-
SITE along with LOGO or FAVICON of the respective
Organization or Blog. Sometimes it also contains an Ad
(animated or anchored image).
HEADER and FOOTER divisions and contains the CON-
TENT PANE (sub-division) or simply the contents of the
scripts and programming (if used). Sometimes this divi-
sion also contains a NAVIGATION or MENU BAR (sub-
division) that in-lists the links etc. Position of BAR can be
sion. CONTAINER division can be subdivided in further

My Journey from:
Paathshalla
to
Masti ki Paathshala.
say that school life was better or college life is or will be
better , rather i would say that I had completely lived and
enjoyed my school life and grabbing each and every op-
portunity to make my college life the same.
I was neither nervous nor afraid when I entered the col-
lege rather I was eager to explore the hidden realities of
college life.
Don't take life too seriously ,you won't get out alive
anyway ". So enjoy each and every moment of your life.
Every day I drove to college its almost 12 Km from my
home but those 12 Km seems to be 12 m because when
I leave for college ,I'm full of enthusiasm as new pranks
toil in my mind and also eager to meet my new friends
gling , teasing , playing pranks etc .
I don't know whether I pass out as good engineer or not
but I'm sure that I pass out as an amazing actor and lots of
good friends.
get the correct full form of this.
there were many controversies but still we managed.
In school life I use to plan how I'll pass my weekend with-
out my friends but in college I use plan where to go in
the weekend along with my friends. Now every weekend
is a picnic, movie, night out or a nature walk.
Here I've got new friends who gave me new names,
though I was the same yet they call me K.P,Teddy..etc.
My friends say that I should be banned.
I really don't know why::::
Ahh!!!!! I have dozen of things to be accomplished in my
tweenhood and time is moving really fast, as I'm about to
complete one fourth of college life.
For me college life is having fun, exploring new op-
stronger and deeper. More I am moving forward more
I am wishing to achieve everything. My life a year back

my cooperative and caring seniors. I just can't express it
but there's a unique bond between me and my seniors
a bond which never existed in my school life. Best part
is that day by day it's becoming stronger and stronger.
Had a very good relation with my teacher's too.
Few days back somebody asked me a question:
Does college pay:

when we are ever ready to learn and explore new things
and college is the best place to learn, explore, experience
such things.

A Journey from School to College
New place, new people, new class..gosh everything
was so new! To adjust with new people of all kinds is a
cakewalk for some while for some others its no less than
chewing iron nuts... lol :D Still we all managed. Some of
us walk with 2 while some have their whole battalion set
out, but all of us are on the same track, having unbreak-
able friendship, still the same jokes but now with more
maturity.
Everything in a college is great: the freedom, the involve-
ment, and the politics, everything from A to Z.
Its around a year and I am pretty much sure that all my
batch mates had a great time in the JEC Campus". Every
moment was a delight being a fresher. Every lecture gave
us a new concept. Every FT brought more controversies.
But what was never compromised was
" THE NEVER ENDING FUN"
Walking 16 years of school to 4 years at college: the jour-
ney seemed tough initially but I feel like its an adventure,
a new venture into the detailed subjects, the new life,
from the pointers to the bunks and new strategies and
techniques.
ever!!

unforgettable. But the fact remains the same that those days have gone by and
what we have with us is the present. When you enter the portals of a college
the solid heavy wooden furniture, the grand old piano (well. sure we cannot
expect to have a piano) and high ceilings and if I had to put my pre JEC
thoughts I would say I was mentally prepared to experi-
ence a slice of history.
Change was the part that I was ready to accept, but
the one which struck my conscious the most was
the 'teacher-student relationship' and to be honest
I got a glimpse of this whole teacher student sce-
nario on my 2nd day of college (1ST was before the
Diwali GT) . One of our respected teacher put an
accusation on me and my 2 friends that we made
fun of her and told us that she will going to see what
can be done. We were like 'what the hell just hap-
pened:::::'. When we went to sort out the matter,
she told us that one of her colleague told her that on
our 1st day when we went to get our names entered
in the attendance register we were making fun of
the rage. Another of the many instances I remember
is when we were in a group and were going for a
lab, one of the teacher just called us in a worst kind
of tone and blatantly started scolding us on the fact
that we were dressed in the worst possible manner
manner ( and I was wondering what has engineer-
ing got to do with clothes) and at a certain point of
time he started abusing us on our parents. And then
we asked what we did and he says if I tell your HOD
the way you are talking to me you will be nowhere,
feeling threatened we all went quietly. But again
it was fun and was a routine practice that we have
were few of the many instances that we experienced.
On the other side of the page I got to say that I have
had one of the best teachers of life who have been
extremely polite, considerable and were far away
from holding grudge against us and were extremely
philanthropic when it comes to giving marks ;).
Talking about the experiences with our respected
seniors all I can say is it was hell of a fun. Being a
student of UEC Ujjain for one month and getting
a score of 16 in 17 days and that to like a hammer
you got to appreciate and like the behavior of our
seniors with us and how they treat us. And the best
part of this whole college thing is your own class
and your classmates, the humongous amount of fun,
proximity and relevance which is splendidly invig-
orating. I think most of us if not all can agree on the
fact that just this one thing makes college life much
more interesting, full of colours and unforgettable
than school life. What else I can say, these were just
7 months which I have penned down in the shortest
possible way and we still have another 41 to come.

29th September (well how can I ever forget this date) .
For some of the guys it was just an option to save it for
back-up since they had their CAT and GATE exams as
well, but for others it was the best option to secure their
immediate future by grabbing this opportunity. But, what
was common was that nobody wanted to miss this golden
opportunity. Even I being a serious CAT aspirant have

round overshadowed all our feelings i.e. HR round. Also
a few guys had to appear for the 3rd round i.e. manage-

were in the air that those who were not called for man-

Like everyone else, I entered this college with a pre-con-
ceived notion that it would be my life time experience,
something I would cherish for the rest of my life. And my
college life did live up to my perceived expectations, but
rations have always been ambitious. But our aspiration
and assumptions with which we enter college start go-

teachers sometimes have been source of inspiration when
they thought we are not good enough or worth doing
anything and we kept trying harder to prove them wrong.
I consider myself fortunate to study in a class where peo-
ple are culturally and ethically diverse in nature.
Apart from academics, from our initial semesters itself we
were involved in other curricular activities which I think
ment banned smoking on public places and it is ironic
that when I was holding the posters in one hand and I
