The nearly-completed guest house in West Timor, Indonesia, which will become my home. I am told that it is safe, secure, has cooking and laundry facilities and is on the beach. Pretty neat!

ew budget!

February 2013

In my last newsletter, I mentioned the possibility of this, but it had not yet become reality. This time, though, I have big news to share! In order to raise support and get to the field sooner, my colleagues in Australia and I have been working on my budget, to see if we can save some money. I have mentioned before that I will be working mostly in Northern Australia, with some shorter trips into some of the nearby islands of Indonesia. After some prayer and deliberation, we have decided to make West Timor my base. Since the cost of living in Indonesia is much lower than Australia, I will be saving over $1,000 every month by being based there instead. With all the ways God has been moving in Indonesia through our missionaries lately, there is at least as much work for me to do there as there would have been in Australia. When I was in Indiana a couple months ago, I was blessed with the opportunity to meet the missionary couple that manages the guest house where I will be living! As you can imagine, this greatly affects my support levels and how much more I need to raise, in order to leave on time by June. Thanks to all of your generous donations, my monthly support budget is now at 70%!

Please continue to pray for me to be able to reach 100% of my support by May, and be able to leave for the mission field in early June!

While my time will still be divided between the two countries, the majority of it will now be in West Timor, Indonesia, at our base in Kupang. Right now, excitement is building there as work is finishing on the Tetun New Testament and book of Genesis. The Tetun team is working on final revisions before sending it to the typesetter. They are hoping to have a dedication ceremony in mid 2013, giving finished copies to native speakers, so they can read the New Testament in their own "heart language." Please pray for me to be there to help record this ceremony!

The island of Timor is divided into two halves: the west half belongs to Indonesia, while the eastern half (East Timor or Timor -Leste) recently gained its own independence in 2002. Wycliffe has missionary teams working on both parts of the island, translating the Bible into some of its many diverse languages. In Indonesia and East Timor combined, there are an estimated 738 living languages!

Many thanks to New Beginnings Community Church, and to Woodland Park Community Church, my newest monthly supporters! In Fort Wayne, IN, New Beginnings was my home church all my life, until we moved to Colorado in 2002. Thanks for being there for me! Your love and support has inspired me all my life to continue chasing after God. Woodland Park Community Church has become my newest church home here in Woodland Park, CO (west of Colorado Springs). They have a strong love for God and worship, and their support of local ministries and world missions inspires my heart. Thank you for being a light to our community!
