RISE TO THE THRONE At the age of 18, Cleopatra took the throne. She was married to both her brothers (Ptolemy 13th, then later Ptolemy 14th). Ptolemy 13th drowned and 14th died of illness. She was forced into exile by Ptolemy 13th where she met Julius Caesar. She returned to Egypt pregnant with his baby and the support of the Roman Army. She was given the throne by Caesar.

ALLIANCES AND ENEMIES Cleopatra formed an alliance with Caesar (supposedly snuck into his room in a carpet). Her relationship with him caused outrage in Rome, she even gave birth to his son Caesarian in 47BCE at the age of 21. Caesar was assassinated in Rome. Left without her ally, she quickly married Mark Antony (one of 3 leaders of Rome). Cleopatra and Antony plotted to invade Rome and unity a divided empire. Octavian (Caesars nephew) defeated their army at the Battle of Actium.

LEGACY
After the defeat of Actium, both Antony and Cleopatra committed suicide. She was the mother of 3 children (1 Caesar/ 2 Antony). Her body has not been discovered, however, Dr. Hawass believes that her tomb is located near Alexandria. She is believed to be buried with Mark Antony. She spoken 7 languages fluently and was the last pharaoh of Egypt.
