Plate Tectonics
Use the following resources to help in your discovery and understanding of plate tectonics.

It all started with one man and the theory of Continental Drift. Learn more about Alfred Wegener by reading some biographical information. Wegener was still lacking the evidence he needed. However, sonar technology developed in World War I and a scientist by the name of Harry Hess helped to provide the missing pieces. Find out more about Hess discovery of sea- oor spreading here! Read This Dynamic Earth: The Story of Plate Tectonics to nd out how Wegener and Hess theories evolved into the theory of plate tectonics we understand today. There are different types of plate tectonic boundaries including convergent, divergent, and transform boundaries. Find out about what geologic features each of these form. Watch the video segment on plate tectonics. Pay special attention to all the people and terms you have already become familiar with. After following the above steps take the Plate Tectonics Quiz. E-mail your results to amanda.edgar@venturausd.org
