August 30, 1974 CECO FUEL CONTROL, PLANNING INFORMATION: EFFECTIVITY: REASON: All Part No. 6887770 (CECO P/L 104OOOA9)Fuel Control Assemblies. To eliminate a possible source of external leakage by replacing main cover assemblies having a pressed-in speed set sleeve with new covers designed to receive the speed set valve directly. P/N 6887770 (CECO P/L 104000A9) Fuel Control Assemblies may be reworked by replacing P/N 98246 Main Cover Assembly and P/N 98249 Speed Set Valve and Sleeve Assembly with P/N 100506 Cover Assembly and P/N 100516 Valve and Sleeve Assembly. Following rework, fuel control assemblies are reidentified as Part No. 6889821 (CECO P/L 104OOOA10). Modification is recommended at next overhaul following parts availability. FAA-DER Approved. MAIN COVER ASSEMBLY-REPLACE

INSTRUCTIONSz Fuel Control and Replace Superseded Parts:

PART I: Dissassemble A. B.

Disassemble the fuel control in accordance with the overhaul manual (Appendix Al). Replace the following parts in addition to those designated for 100% replacement: Old P/N 98246 98249 Nomenclature Cover and Sleeve Assy Valve and Sleeve Assy New P/N 100506 100516

One of the seven AN503-lo-12 Machine Screws (attaching cover and sleeve assembly) may be reused at a different location if serviceable. Six AN503-10-12 Screws and two AN503-10-20 Screws are used to install new P/N 10506 Cover Assembly to control body. NOTE: Even though replacement P/N 100516 Valve and Sleeve Assembly uses the same P/N 98248 Valve as replaced P/N 98249 Valve and Sleeve Assembly, the assembly must be replaced since these parts are manufactured in matched sets.

PART II: Reassemble and Reidentify Fuel Control. A. Reassemble in accordance with the overhaul manual (Appendix Al) except as follows: NOTE: Reassembly of P/N 100516 Valve and Sleeve Assembly with P/N 98251 Diaphragm and Retainer Assembly using P/N 94921 Clevis Pm reidentifies the Complete Speed Set Valve Assembly as P/N 100517. 1. Use three different size packings (15) on adjusting sleeve (14). Use P/N 78109-009 in largest diameter groove, P/N 71809008 in middle groove and P/N 71809-007 in smallest diameter groove (nearest threads on sleeve). (Refer to Appendix Al psra 2-52, step 11 and figure 2-6).

Use a total of six P/N AN503-10-12 Screws (11) and two P/N AN503-10-20 Screws (9) to attach main cover assembly $lzj (Refer to Appendix Al, para 2-54, step 7 and figure - .

After reassembly, calibrate the fuel control as directed in the overhaul manual (Appendix Al). After calibration, reidentify fication plate using l/8-inch follows: Old DDA P/N
