Fine, grit-like dirt particles, swirling within the cylindrical filter screen, have eroded holes in the screen wires. Part No. 2539508 Fuel Filter Assembly has been released to reduce the high velocity, turbulent fuel flow within the filter screen. In the new filter assembly, three cross holes are added to the filter sleeve; also, the entrance hole diameter of the sleeve is increased. The entrance hole of the screen is enlarged, and the OD of its seal: is chamfered. Also, a load spring is added under the filter plug (or cap) to assure complete seating of the filter assembly.

BENDIX FUEL CONTROL, FUEL INLET FILTER ASSEMBLY-REPLACE ACCOMPLISHMENT I. INSTRUCTIONS: Assembly and P/N 2539511 (See Figure 1.)

Install new P/N 2539508 Fuel Filter Spring as follows: A. B. C.

Remove plug and filter assembly fuel control. Discard O-ring and filter assembly.

Lightly lubricate new P/N 557% O-ring with engine fuel and place it on plug. Install new P/N 2539508 Filter Assembly, P/N 2539437 Spring, and plug in fuel control. Tighten plug 65-70 lb in. and secure with lockwire.

Reidentification A. In the field, reidentify fuel controls incorporating the new filter assembly with a large dot of blue dykem (or (equivalent) on the control body in a visible area. At overhaul, reidentify modified controls with a new P/N 2647428 Identification Plate filled out per Table I. (Data may be metal stamped, vibropeened, or scribed.) NOTE: -250-C20/C20B CEB-1079 must be incorporated before or concurrently with this bulletin before 250-C20/C20B controls can be reidentified with a new part number.
