REASON: --Investigations of prematurely removed fuel controls and governors revealed that fine, grit-,type debris was sufficiently present to possibly affect engine performance. As an immediate and practical approach to this condition, flushing procedures, CSL-1034 and CSL-1035 were issued and implemented at Distributor facilities on all units (1) processed for overhaul (2) removed from storage and (3) returned for suspected contamination. Also, operators were provided with the option of flushing units suspected of contamination. This action, however, does not preclude fine debris from re-entering the fuel management system.

In consideration of all operating environments, the next logical step was to compensate for the different fuel handling techniques and fuel storage facilities which may contribute to contamination. Only remove the four (4) nuts and washers which secure the Hughes support to the accessory drive pad.
