The Institute for Cuban and Cuban-American Studies Invites you to a panel discussion on

SIGNIFICANCE OF RECENT CHANGES IN CUBA


MODERATOR: Jaime Suchlicki, Director, Institute for Cuban and Cuban-American Studies, and Emilio Bacardi Moreau Professor of History at the University of Miami. He is also editor of Cuban Affairs, a quarterly electronic journal published by ICCAS, and the author of Cuba: From Columbus to Castro; Mexico: From Montezuma to the Rise of PAN; and of the recently published Breve Historia de Cuba. Dr. Suchlicki is a highly regarded consultant to the public and private sector in the U.S. DISCUSSANTS: Pedro Roig, Esq. is Senior Consultant at the Institute for Cuban and CubanAmerican Studies. Dr. Roig has taught Cuban history courses at various institutions. Former director of the Office of Cuba Broadcasting (OCB) Radio & TV Marti. Roig has been an active member of the Florida Bar for several years working with Burton Young at Young, Berman and Karpf, Esq. and on his own law firm. He holds a Masters of Arts degree from University of Miami and a Juris Doctor Degree from St. Thomas University. He has written several books including The Death of a Dream: A History of Cuba and Marti: The Cuban Struggle for Freedom. He is a veteran of the Brigade 2506. Brian Latell, Senior Research Associate at the Institute for Cuban and Cuban American Studies. From 1990-94 Dr. Latell served as National Intelligence Officer for Latin America. Before retiring from the Central Intelligence Agency in 1998, he was the Director of the Center for the Study of Intelligence. He taught for a quarter century at Georgetown University. Dr. Latell is the author of After Fidel: The Inside Story of Castros Regime and Cubas Next Leader which has been published in eight languages. Jose Azel, is a Senior Research Associate at the Institute for Cuban and CubanAmerican Studies (ICCAS), University of Miami. He was one of the founders of Pediatrix Medical Group, the nations leading provider of pediatric specialty services. He co-founded Childrens Center for Development Behavior. Dr. Azel was an Adjunct Professor of International Business at the School of Business Administration, Department of Management, University of Miami. Azel holds a Ph.D. in International Affairs from the University of Miami. Jose is the author of Maana in Cuba: The Legacy of Castroism and Transitional Challenges for Cuba.
