5 Things to Look Forward to in 2013:


5. Funding Opportunities Abound Open Streets, SHIP 3.0!?, BCBS, United Way, etc 4. Wright County and local cities accessing capital improvement dollars to continue working on building trails; safe places for active living. 3. Knowing that all original funded projects through SHIP, are still flourishing and helping to facilitate such important change throughout Wright County. 2. Maintaining and strengthening our relationships with community partners to do the best job we can to address such an important community health problem; obesity. 1. Meeting our 2012 goals; creating a healthy snack/resource list and ensuring at least 1 school within each of local school districts has a school garden by the fall of 2013.

VOLUNTEERS PLEASE!
March 9th: Spring Days STMA Middle School West 8:00am to 3:00pm
We will utilize this event to share with the community and invite school staff/ administrators to promote our work on school gardens.

March 23rd: Buffalo Comm. Health Fair Buffalo Comm. Middle School 9:00am 1:00pm
Our booth will focus on work with school nutrition; snack/resource list & school gardens. We will send out the flyer for this event soon.

10 Ways to Promote Kids Healthy Eating Habits


1. Nutritious new foods: try, try again! 2. Stick to a strict meal and snack schedule 3. Help them recognize when theyve eaten enough 4. Start with small portions 5. Set a good example 6. Promote fruits and veggies at dinner 7. Warn kids about drinking calories 8. Avoid buying unhealthy foods in bulk 9. Encourage them to eat smart at school 10. Dont ban junk food outright

RFP #733 Active Living For All released through the Blue Cross Center for Prevention They anticipate funding up to 10 organizations to implement active living efforts. A letter of intent is due by Feb 8, 2013. Let us know if you are any other local partners are interested in the opportunity!
