Our guests usually arrive at 11: 30. As soon as they ring the
bell we open the door. Our greeting ritual is shaking hands
and welcome them with the words “Grüß Gott”. If we know
them well they take off their jackets and exchange their
shoes to house slippers. Sometimes the guests bring gifts
with them in form of flowers or chocolates. Dad asks them
to sit down at the table whilst Mum prepares the meal. From
time to time the women help out in the kitchen and we kids
serve the drinks. Afterwards Mum will bring the food to the
table. Often we have soup, Schnitzel, meat roll or racelette.
We take our time to enjoy our meal. As dessert we serve
ice cream or custard. Once lunch is over the children play
together whilst the adults having a chat. Then it is time for
afternoon tea or coffee together with a cake. We go out for
a walk during this time Mum prepares some snacks. At
around 5 pm we return from our walk, then it is time for
eating the prepared sandwiches consisting of bread topped
with lunch meat, cheese, gherkins and eggs. As it is late
now the guests leave the table put on their jackets and
shoes. Once again we shake hands and say “Auf
Wiedersehen”.

RECEİVİNG GUESTS
The guest should ask at first to the host ,if the host is convenient or not to
receive a guest .If the host is convenient the guest is welcome. We receive
guests mostly for dinner.
We wait the guest in front of the house door. If they are there we said to
them “hoş geldiniz” it means “welcome” and the guest said “hosbulduk” this
means nice to be here.
The men and the women shake their hands .The children kissed the hands
from the older people. The older people gave to the children some money or
candy or chocolate. We show to our guest the best place to sit and we have a
guest rooms in our houses.. We asked to our guest how they are and talked
until dinner. The daughter or the bride from the house gaves to our guest candy
and eau de cologne.
During the talk the older peoples are talking and the children are only
listening. If someone asks something to the children they gave answer
otherwise the children are not talking . If the dinner is ready we sit on the
ground and began to eat.
The foods are mostly traditional Türkish meals. We began to eat with soup
(mostly tarhana or other kinds of soup) after the soup there is meal with meat ,
with rice, yoghurt and salad. To drink there is water and ayran (yogourt milk)
After the meal there is a dessert .As dessert we gave mostly baklava or sütlaç,
revani, helva and irmik at home. After the dessert we pray and thanks for
ALLAH ( GOD) for giving us this food.
If the tea is ready everybody drinks together the tea with biscuits and cake.
After the tea its time to eat fruits and some snack (nuts, pistachio nuts, roasted
chickpea, pip, walnut etc.)
If its time to go (mostly round 24 : 00 o’clock) the children are kissing the
hands from the older people and the older people are kissing the eyes of the
children. The guest says “hoscakalin” stay happily , may God protect you, and
the guest add at last “bize de bekleriz” looking for your wisit to us. The host
says” güle güle” (goodbye) and at last, the host says we will be glad to see you
again - come again. The host is with their guest outside of the house until the
guest drives away.
RECİBİENDO İNVİTADOS (Turquía)
Los hombres y las mujeres se dan la mano. Los niños besan la mano de
los mayores, y éstos les dan dinero, golosinas o chocolate. Mostramos a
pistachos, garbanzos asados, etc.).
