Research Title: Remote Power Control through LAN II. Project Leader: Members: Stephanie V. Gomez Angelly Crisar P. Entice III. Background and Rationale: In many establishments, everyone wants to save - to save time, effort, and cost. Power Control is one of the things to consider. Our campus spends millions of pesos every month for power consumption only. Power Switches and control are located in various remote areas unattended. Anyone could have access any time to just turn on or off switches anytime unnoticed. This sometimes causes unnecessary power usage which often increases the payment in the power bill. Also, this electrical devices that are left powered on unattended may lead to possible electrical hazards which also gives a risk to our safety. It takes time and effort to monitor this switches and adds up to another cost spent. When problems in the power line occur, all devices connected to the power line may be affected causing works to be distracted. To overcome this, the researchers seeks to develop a system that will remotely control the power through a LAN network The researchers aim to control the power consumption by having a system that will monitor and control the switches of power sockets, lights, fans, and any devices connected to the power line of an establishment through a web browser on a local area network (LAN). Devices plugged into the system's outlets can be turned on or off with the click of a button on a webpage. With the help of microcontrollers, an embedded system may be used to act as a web server to serve a web page that allows the user to turn on or off the supply of power to the connected devices. The system will also give isolation to devices so that power interruption can be avoided.

Statement of the Problem From the study, the researchers aim to provide a solution that may help minimize or may be eliminate the following problems:

Unnecessary power consumption. Excessive power bill. Extra effort and cost in manpower services in monitoring, checking, and control. Risk in safety due to powered devices that are left on unnoticed. Centralized power interruption due to possible problems in the power line.

Technical Justification Advantage of the study

IV. Objectives of the Study The objective of the study is to: Develop a system for centralized power control and monitoring that will reduce problems encountered in unnecessary power consumption. Use previous learning from our course in certain applications beneficiary to our society. VII. Estimated Project Cost Stated below is the estimated project cost and is subject to change.
