1. Debian GNU/Linux 5.0 released
r
The Debian development community has
officially released version 5.0 of the venerable
open source Linux distribution. The new
version, which is codenamed Lenny, includes
updated software, security enhancements, and
i
improved hardware support.
The Debian project maintains three separate
streams of packages. The official releases
consist of the "stable" package set, but users
who want the latest software often use the
"testing" or "unstable" streams which are
maintained through a rolling release model. Official releases, which occur roughly every two or
three years, are created by freezing the packages in the testing stream and ironing out the bugs so
t
that they meet the requisite level of robustness.

3. How to Create a Fedora 10 Linux Distribution
Now that you've learned how to install Fedora 10 on your personal computer, why not learn how to
create your own Fedora distribution and give it to your friends or use it for your machines? Fedora
10, also known as Cambridge, was released on November 25th, 2008, and it brings GNOME 2.24
and KDE 4.1, faster boot experience with Plymouth, better printing, better webcam support,
improved wireless network connection sharing, better software maintenance and update (powered by
P
PackageKit and RPM 4.6), and virtualization storage.
The following tutorial will teach you how to create a customized version of the Fedora 10 Linux
distribution. We will use a tool called Revisor, which features a nice GUI for inexperienced users
and a CLI (commandline interface) with extended configuration for advanced users. Revisor can
c
create both Fedora 10 CD/DVD installable media and Live CDs.
