Idea Creation Task

Learning outcomes: Creative thinker Self-manager Reflective learner

Idea 1: Corporate/promo
Basic idea: A department of City College I will get in touch with Tanya Burr and Jim Chapman, people made famous by YouTube. I will promote the start-up lounge enterprise theme by getting the You tubers to say why it is a good idea to create your own ideas and work for yourself and how YouTube inspired them to make money from it by being a partner. The potential audience will mainly be students aged 16 19 but also will be aimed at new students coming up from high school so also 14 19 year olds. I will ask Fin who is in charge of the Start Up Lounge as to what questions he would like answered and if there is anything that he would like to tell students visually through the TV screens as people enter the startup lounge,. This would be played when new students come to the college or in the auditorium section of the start-up lounge when students come in for workshops on how to create new ideas and be inspired.

Idea 2: Social Action and Community Media Production (SACM)


The basic idea is to campaign against the demolition of Brundalls local village pub called The Ram. Tescos are planning to take away the local pub and replace it with a Tescos when there is already a Budgens in the village. It will have an effect on the local residents as there is not much space for parking and it is also very near a sharp bend in the road on cucumber lane so this will make life difficult for local commuters in rush hour and may cause unnecessary traffic jams/congestion. Of course in the current economic crisis local pubs are not doing as well as they have done in the past in terms of bringing in revenue however in times of need it brings the community together and is somewhere to socialise. The target audience for my campaign will be people from 18 over 60s as there is a wide range of people that live in the village and I want the campaign to appeal to everyone. I will make posters which will be put in local businesses front doors and windows. The potential client is the pub owner called Kirsty as she will benefit from the campaign if it works. It will make the target audience more aware of the pub and may encourage them, to go and spend money in there more.

Idea 3: Known company/individual about a product or service (corporate/promo)


The basic idea is to create either a health and safety video for the employees of the The Hamper People in Strumpshaw or create a promotional advert advertising their hampers on their website as they do not have a video yet. The target audience I would aim this at the over 50s age range and also big companies as they tend to be the ones that buy hampers in large volumes for their employees. The client that I will be making it for is the Managing Director of The Hamper people. The video will promote the Hampers and the contents of them and will promote the fact that they are put together by hand in the warehouse. I will put the video on their website so it will be a short video under 3 minutes.
