PRESIDENTS MESSAGE
by Barbara Lukasiewicz, WLTBS President
As 2013 is underway, Womens League is busy planning a number of activities for the remaining four months of this fiscal year. Our women enjoyed wonderful events in February from a spectacular Torah Fund brunch to an informative tour of Zappos. Our Nominating Committee under the guidance of Chair, Blanche Meisel, has been working nonstop putting together a spectacular Womens League Board for 2013-2014. Im very impressed and proud of the job they are doing, although not surprised as WL women are second to none! This next Board is sure to have the tools and skills required to continue the positive growth this WL Board has made a high priority. As I become Counselor for next years Board as Immediate Past President of Womens League of Temple Beth Sholom, I look forward to welcoming this new Board soon! To reflect on the past two years of my Presidency, I cannot thank all of you enough for your support and enthusiasm of Womens League. These two qualities have brought us many new members over the past 20 months, and because of youour programs are well attended and respected. WL members appreciate the work done by our Board, Committees and Chairs to keep an active calendar. Our Special Interest Groups provide monthly programs which give our women a better understanding of each other and the ability to deepen their friendships. International Convention gave our women the opportunity to meet sisters from all over the country including many from Canada. And this years TBS Board consists of more women on it than when I began and all are active members of Womens League. So when this Board completes its term, WL is well-positioned to move forward to meet the needs of our congregation and its women with the 2013-2014 Board. This is what every President hopes for and I want to ask each of you to set aside the morning of Wednesday, April 17th to attend our WL General Election/Program. A light breakfast will be served and it will be both an informative and enjoyable time for everyone. More information will follow as the meeting draws closer; dont forget to RSVP when you receive the invitation the beginning of April. These milestones which mark time such as the annual General Election Meeting also bring a strong sense of stability to our organization. As seasons change and Boards change, one thing remains the sameWomens League continues to be there for us as a source of friendship, strength and comfort. Womens League is a very good thing! I want to wish each of you and your families a sweet and meaningful Passover. As Spring draws closer may each of you be renewed as you continue to help make Womens League the inviting and welcoming organization it is to so many. Invite your friends to join Womens League and remember to give the gift of a Womens League membership to your friends for their birthdays and special occasions. Womens League truly is a gift which keeps on giving back. So do something good for yourself and othersparticipate in Womens Leagueyoull be glad you did and we are glad to have you involved! Together we make a positive difference for Womens League and Temple Beth Sholom.

is to create a caring community of women that celebrates and perpetuates Conservative/Masorti Judaism in their lives, homes and synagogue. Through service, education, tzedakah and observance, we reinforce our bonds with Jews locally, nationally, in Israel and worldwide.

EDUCATION / ISRAEL AFFAIRS - COMMUNITY ACTION Eunice Galsky, Educ. VP If you have not heard of Women of the Wall, here is some information about them that might be of interest. According to the law in Israel, "No religious ceremony shall be held in the women's section of the Western Wall." This includes holding or reading a Torah, blowing the shofar (rams horn) or wearing tallitot (prayer shawls). To find out more click here. As Women of the Wall, our central mission is to achieve the social and legal recognition of our right, as women, to wear prayer shawls, pray, and read from the Torah collectively and out loud at the Western Wall. To learn more, go to their website at http://womenofthewall.org.il/.

ARE YOU A VICTIM OF IDENTITY THEFT?

Do you know that fraud and scams are prevalent throughout the country? Do you know how to prevent becoming a victim? Join us at Temple Beth Sholom on Tuesday, March 19, at 1:30 p.m. to hear experts on the subjects of identity theft, forgery, fraud and scams in our community. Guest speakers for the afternoon are Detective Michael Gomez of the Metropolitan Police Department and Scott Bakken of the FBI. These gentlemen with many years of experience are devoted to do battle to eradicate these crimes. The Active Adults of Temple Beth Sholom extend this invitation to the entire community to join them. There is no cost to attend....and light refreshments will be available. Please call Adele at 382-6456 or Mimi at 233-3785 for further information and to say "YES' to our invitation. We look forward to seeing you on March 19th.

SPECIAL THANKS & much appreciation to The VISION Proof-readers: Brenda Katz, Barbara Lukasiewicz & Kim Memar

Page 9 TORAH FUND........Our annual event was a 70th Birthday Party for Torah Fund. If you weren't there you missed a fun time, take home gifts, prizes, a swell program and great camaraderie. To those who were there, as well as those who generously donated but could not attend, thank you for your continuing support. Let's remember that Torah Fund provides students with places to live, study, and worship in the colleges and universities that educate our future Jewish clergy, scholars, educators, and leaders. Today, the needs are greater, the costs are higher and Torah Fund supports institutions in New York, Los Angeles, Buenos Aires and Jerusalem. Besides the cities listed our graduates serve synagogues all over South America, Cuba, and Europe. Your donation covers a lot of territory. There is still time to make a contribution this year. Just contact Lillian Radomsky or Blanche Meisel. Todah Rabah from Lil & Blanche.
