Dear Friends, Since 1964... parents, guardians, pastors, social workers and community agencies have placed their trust in Skyline by sending their campers and hosting retreats and other events here. We deeply value that trust and work hard to maintain it. Skylines philosophy is centered on each of our guests, with safety and well-being (physical, emotional, social and spiritual) as our primary concern. We are here to welcome and serve you. Our programs and staff training are painstakingly developed and reviewed, and Skyline maintains its licensing credentials with the State of Michigan, which oversees and annually visits the camp. Additionally, we voluntarily subject ourselves to the stringent standards of the American Camp Association, the nations leading body for ensuring quality across the board for summer camps. Skyline is a way of life for us; we met here in the 1990s as camp counselors, and bring to Skyline years of experience in teaching, outdoor education, youth ministry, food service, community organizing, and child protection casework. We are delighted to have Skyline as home for our daughters, and we trust that your experience at Skyline will have you feeling that it is a wonderful place for your family, too. Skyline was established in 1964 as a summer camp providing Christian Education for children and youth, and is now both a summer camp and a year-around retreat center. For many years Skyline has welcomed both adults and children to its unique environment. Situated in a rural area in southern Lapeer County, Skylines 156 acres of rolling hills and forests are a haven from the routine and stresses of the work day the perfect four-season venue for retreats, off-site meetings and seminars. Whether your need is for a few hours, one day, overnight or week-long, let Skyline supply the natural beauty as well as all the facilities and tools. Skyline can accommodate 100 at one time in winter and 200 in summer. Skyline is an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, and relies on the generous support of individuals, foundations, churches and businesses. Summer Camps are certainly not the only thing we do at Skyline, but it has always been a central piece of our reason for being. We approach summer camp with a great deal of preparation... Our Focus The safety, welfare and well-being of all our campers. Our Philosophy Skylines spirituality begins with wonder and gratitude for every blessing; no camper is expected to bring a particular belief background, and all will be welcomed as they are. With Skylines roots in Christian values, we encourage in our campers a sense of compassion, a respect for creation, and an embrace of creativity. Values of fairness, kindness, beauty, diversity and generosity are modeled, expected and celebrated. Our Intentions

Special Needs Camps
As the name says, this is a joy-filled week of food, folks and fun: summer camp style. Sing, dance, drum, swim, & fish! Enjoy games, crafts, puzzles, hayrides, campfires, & friends. Lifehorse, our local therapeutic horse-back riding farm will be back again. Another repeat will be our big dance with DJ Dazzle Do Time. Our caring and well trained staff welcome each camper to this joyful week of camp. $495*

Camp Joy

Camp FAR Away is a week of activities and fun for teens with special needs and is offered in partnership with the FAR Conservatory of Therapeutic and Performing Arts. Lifehorse, our local therapeutic horse-back riding farm, will return with their horses once again. Includes traditional outdoor camp activities like swimming, archery, campfires & hayrides as well as music, art, dance and recreational therapy. $495*

June 16-21 For Ages 13-19 with special needs

Camp Far Away

Games, songs, dances, fishing, canoeing, drumming, hayrides, campfires, crafts, and more. Come out for a chance to shine & cheer for new & old friends talents in the annual Skyline Talent show. New this year: DJ Dazzle Do Time jazzing up our big dance. Another highlight: Skylines friendly therapy animals, the Nigerian Dwarf goats & their kids. Come & gather on the beautiful hills of Skyline for a weekend of good wholesome family fun and great food. Fishing, canoeing, archery, hayrides, swimming for the brave, hiking, biking, campfires, family skits, singing, smores, drumming, shelter building, obstacle courses, big group games, grab a hammock, read with birdsongs & children playing within earshot and more. Sleep in tents, cabins, rooms in Focus, or if you reserve early, the covered wagon. Friday evening until Sunday morning, includes Saturday breakfast through Sunday breakfast. Camp for Us welcomes all families, especially those with children who have special needs. Mornings there are games, music, drama & crafts for children ages 6-18 with our counselors, and optional free time for adults. Afternoon & evening family programs include swimming, canoeing, fishing, drumming, archery, hiking, hammocking, campfires, crafts, and optional therapeutic horseback riding. Enjoy a hike with our Nigerian Dwarf goats & their kids. New: a Family Dance with DJ Dazzle Do Time on Saturday Night. Lodging in Focus, cabins or tents. Friday evening until Monday morning. Seven meals from Saturday breakfast through Monday breakfast & evening snacks.

Day Camps
Five one-week sessions. All the fun of summer camp with the comfort of evenings at home. Each week will be a unique week of program. Most weeks we will swim, canoe, fish, hike, garden, hammock, explore, play with goats, drum, and sing. Enjoy swimming lessons, horses, campfires, smores, archery, arts & crafts & more. Children who register for consecutive weeks will have a chance to know Skylines trails more deeply & improve on certain skills. Lunch and snacks provided. Monday thru Friday, 9am-5pm (ending at 2pm Friday only). $195 (with savings for multiple weeks)

Teen Conservation Corps

Three one-week sessions. Check out this new opportunity for your teenager who wants to be at Skyline and wants to earn community service credit! A program for high school students teaching practical conservation and leadership skills in a supportive, peaceful and natural environment. Groups of eight teens (ages 15-18) will work together providing service to Camp Skyline, Seven Ponds Nature Center and other community organizations in the day time. Evenings they will explore, play games, canoe, craft & create, enjoy the pool, & the stars, relax. *As part of their registration, teens will be asked to write a paragraph on their interests & experience in service and conservation. Teens may register for consecutive weeks, but will return home on weekends. Lodging and meals at Skyline. $285 (with savings for multiple weeks)

Step Up Camp

In partnership with the Down Syndrome Guild of Southeast Michigan, this is a four day overnight camping experience for middle and high school adolescents with Down Syndrome beginning at 10am on Monday, July 22 and ending at 6:30pm on Thursday, July 25. Campers will be partnered with peers for support and consistent positive social interaction. Look forward to new friends, games, hayrides, swimming, campfires, crafts, yoga, dance, music, therapeutic horseback riding, canoeing, fishing, delicious camp food, community living and much more! On Thursday evening at 6pm before checkout, there will be an Exhibition Evening to showcase the campers creativity. Lodging in Focus Hall. * Paulette Duggins, Program Director for the Down Syndrome Guild of Southeast Michigan will be coordinating enrollment. Orientation and training begins on Sunday July 21 at 2pm. Your partners will arrive on Monday morning and the official camp program will begin. Look forward to new friends, training with Paulette Duggins of DSGSMI, experience working with adolescents with Down Syndrome, and camp activities in a welcoming and supportive environment. Your partners will depart Thursday night, followed by one last night for your debriefing and celebrating a job well done. *As part of registration, teens will fill out a one page supplement o the online camp registration including a paragraph on their nterests & experience in working with the special needs community. Overnight Camps
This camp is for children & teens interested in singing, drumming, and dancing. From the novice to advanced level musicians and dancers, there will be ample opportunity to find new joy in making music and dancing with new friends. Experience the power of drumming in community, the sound of voices united in harmony, and the feeling of dancing together in time. Campers will be grouped by age and experience. Dance Styles: Hip Hop, Ballet, & Irish. Music Styles: World, Spirituals, Camp & Folk. Campers will also swim, hike, explore and participate in other traditional camp activities. Lodging in Cabins and/or Focus Hall. Performance on Friday at 1:30pm for Families. $495 Join us for a week of exploring and earthy adventure. Stargaze, catch fireflies, climb trees, explore the pond with your handmade aquascope, sample wild foods, dye wool with tree bark, relax in hammocks and sketch all you see in your handmade field journal. Hike with our growing Nigerian Pygmy Goat herd. Natural Explorers will spend a night in tents and cook over a fire. Natural Explorers will also join in traditional camp activities such as swimming, singing, archery, canoeing and fishing. Lodging in Cabins. $495

Campers who like a good challenge will love Survival Camp. Starting on the Low Ropes Course, then problem solving, hiking, orienteering, building fires, preparing meals, building shelters & rafts, building friendships. Find and uncover buried treasures! Enormous and complicated games of capture the flag... Learning some skills for leavingno-trace, and relying on your wits. Lodging in cabins and tents. $495

Come outside and play Capture the Flag, swim, canoe, fish, hike, explore and get to know our Nigerian Dwarf goat herd. Enjoy songs & smores around the campfire, drumming, archery, gardening, arts & crafts and more! Challenge yourself on our low ropes course. Stargaze, walk the labyrinth, relax in hammocks with new & old friends. Choose a major for the week and practice one skill intensively; new majors this year: Woodworking and Improv Theatre. Traditional Camp II

Spend a week loving your food from farm to fork. Gain practical cooking skills that will last you a lifetime. Make new friends, visit local farms, harvest seasonal fruit & vegetables, work in the camp garden, learn to make cheese, ice cream, jam, prepare your own dinner & dessert every day, and create your own cookbook & cutting board. This week-long cooking camp is a great way for teens to learn the joy of eating seasonally & locally while developing sustainable eating habits. No kitchen experience necessary, but certainly welcomed. Overnight lodging in the Lodge. This camp is limited to ten participants, please register early. $495

DEPOSITS AND REFUND POLICIES

* A camper is considered Registered when the registration form (on paper or online) is received; AND the non-refundable deposit of $75 is received. * If a camp session is full before the deposit is received, it is returned to the sender. * A campers Confirmation will be sent after all additional forms and payment are received. * Full payment is due 30 days before camp session. * Cancellations less than 30 days before the camp session will result in the forfeiture of all payments. * Cancellations more than 30 days before the camp session will be refunded all but the $75 deposit. * Campers leaving early due to illness/extenuating circumstances will be refunded proportionately. * Campers leaving early due to behavior are subject to forfeiting the full fee.

Families and friends of Skyline, new and old, are invited to join us for a day of camp activities: catch & release fishing in the pond, archery, hayrides, labyrinth walks, crafts, tree planting, goat visits, obstacle courses, broom ball and more. There will be a free BBQ for all to enjoy between 3:00 and 5:30, Q & A sessions on summer camp programs at 3:00 & 4:00, and a family soccer game at 5:00. Free admission & BBQ for all, donations welcomed. The Hike-a-thon is a Campership Fundraiser for campers and all friends of Skyline. Campers will gather sponsors to help raise funds for their camp fees before the Hike-a-thon. All are invited to join campers in the Hike-a-thon, both hiking and/or fundraising to enable more campers to come to Skyline. Every little bit helps! The Hike-athon is a program created by Skylines Young Adult Advisory Committee, made up of former counselors, junior counselors and kitchen staff.

Free Open Pool on July 3, 4, and 5, from Noon til 6pm. Additional activities 2-5pm on July 3rd, including Archery, Fishing, Canoeing and Crafts Bring a picnic, take a swim (lifeguards on duty), sit under some trees. Enjoy the holiday.

Come out & see the colors of Camp Skylines beautiful 156 acres. Join us for a day of fun for all, and the option of a locally grown and prepared Turkey Dinner. Activities between 1:00 and 5:00pm include: Hayrides, Archery, Labyrinth, Hiking, Pumpkin Painting, Bean Bag Toss, Crafts, Nut Hunts, Apple roasting on the fire, Canoeing, Catch & Release Fishing, Face Painting, Pony Rides (2-4pm) and visits with our friendly Dwarf Goats.

Skyline Camp and Retreat Center welcomes families, foodies, and folks of all kinds to bring bikes (or cars) and good appetites for a day of loving your farmers, your body, your food and the land where it is grown. The ride begins at 11am and ends at 5pm, followed by dinner, live music & campfires between 5pm and 7pm. Skyline has linked neighboring farms & artisans to create two biking loops and a car tour for the days exploration. Cyclists can ride between four and twenty miles on dirt & gravel roads around the hills of Almont, Bruce and Dryden, gathering food and meeting the growers of vegetables, grapes, apples, maple syrup, chickens, turkeys, cows, pigs and more. Automobilists will enjoy a scenic drive on winding roads and can reach the farms on all three loops: car, short bike and long bike. There will be samples and fruit to pick at certain farms and fun to be had everywhere. Cyclists will be given Michigangrown energy packs for the ride. All are welcome & encouraged to shop while out on the trail. Growers will deliver cyclists produce by 6pm and join us for dinner. Main Street Bicycles of Washington will provide the SAG van to keep bicycles in good repair. Dinner will be served between 5 and 7pm: lovingly prepared by Skylines creative cooks using the fruit, vegetables, meat and dairy grown by the farms & orchards on the Tour de Food. Advance (online) registration is required for meals as space is limited, but riders & drivers may register on the day. Register for a good ride and a scrumptious harvest meal at www.campskyline.org.
