Marketing Executive Manager Subject : Recommendations to Increase Nokia Smartphone Sales

At your request I am writing this report to give out my recommendations for improving our brand smartphones sales. My recommendations are based on current market surveys and questionnairs which comprised different age group, income level, occupations etc. Our sample size of the surveys was 40. Background Refer to our annual report of 2012, we found that there was decreased 55% of sales compare with the year 2011. And the percentage was slightly decreased over the past four years. Our brands smart phone had sold during these years are the lowest sales by compare with other Brands smart phone such as Sony Ericsson, Samsung, and others. Because we have not been able advertise our product with nicely and our company is lack of advertisement for our products. We had forced to generate more promotion to attract the potential customers attention to our products. During the past year, our production had achieved the lowest sales since from Nokia smart phone started sold in Malaysia. Problem Smartphones or mobilephones that produced by our company have weak sales performance, the performance bad been dropped gradually since year 2010 until year 2012. Other than that, theres inappropriate marketing segment and strategies which cause our sales getting less. Besides that, our brandsdevice average selling price are also declining every month.

Findings We have collected the primary data with 40 questionnaires that designed by us. The questionnaire was structured and non-disgused. We collected all the datas from the field directly. We used cluster sampling and also random sampling, since the population is large we went for cluster sampling. Moreover it saves time and cost. To minimze the chances of biasness so we used random sampling technique in our survery. We divided the population according to different characteristics like age group, income and so on. The sample we selected belonged to publics and we divided it into clusters accordingly. Conclusions Through our collaborative research, we should be focus more on certain areas so that it can increase the sales and have an edge over its competitors like (1) the products of Nokia should be superior or at least at par with the competitors regarding technology, designing and features, (2) stress should be given on end to end capability by integrating mobile devices applications and infrastructure, (3) Nokia should incorporate the latest technological innovations into their handsets and put more stress on further development. Recommendations Improve products quality. We should get supports from others application developers to upgrade our products. After that, we need to also develop our OS(s) more, find ways to improve it and make some innovations that are going to wow people. In better way, we should instead seek to create a devide which is unique and will get critical attention. Focus on customer satisfaction. We should come up with more value added products and effective after-sales services. For example service centres should be well-equipped to handle customer concerns and there should be proper co-ordination between them. We should focus on customization to gain greater customer satisfaction. Nokia really needs to get the support of consumers before the developers come out in droves. Pay more attention to other markets and high end customers. We needs to pay more attention to other markets such as Carribean and Latin America which they are gobbling

up phones. Besides that, we still needs to perserve our high end customers like 8800, N95, E66 users because many of them hv gone to blackberries and Iphones. Limitations 1. Customers have a blind faith regarding Nokia products which we could not explain in quantitative terms. 2. The customers were biased to some extent with the respective brands. 3. Time and money was another constraint in our project.
