Installation Manual TWM Performance Short Shift Kit 1995 and up Dodge Neon

Its preferable to park on a flat surface, as you may have to engage and disengage the hand brake and shift from gears to neutral. If you cant do so and are obliged to install the short shifter on a slightly inclined surface, place wooden blocks in front or behind the wheels to prevent the car from moving while youre working. Estimated Installation Time: 45 minutes Tools required: - Flat head screw driver (large and small) - Philips head screw driver - Needle nose pliers - Ratchet - 8 mm socket - 10 mm socket - 12 mm socket - 7/16 socket - 1/8 Allen key - All purpose grease - WD-40 or any rust-remover product

1. Open the lid on the center console and remove the 4 screws with a Philips head screw driver.

2. Locate the screws in the cup holders and remove them using a Philips head screw driver.

3. Remove the whole center console by lifting it. To do this, you may have to get the hand brake as high as possible to clear the console when lifting it. Put the console in a safe place.

4. Unsnap the shift boot from the shift assembly. Theres one clip at the front and 2 at the rear of the shift assembly.

5. Using a large flat screw driver, pry the cables off the shift assembly.

6. Wear safety glasses during this step! Using a small flat head screw driver, remove the crescent ring in order to slide the side arm out of the assembly.

7. Now remove the cast aluminum top part of the assembly, using an 8 mm socket and remove the shifter once this is done.

8. Remove the plastic cup that is over the shifter as you will need to re-use this part with the TWM short shifter.

9. Place the side arm in a vice and remove the rubber around the tab. Using pliers, straighten the little tab by bending it back as pictured below.

10. Grease the TWM shifter and install the cup removed in step 8.

11. Install the supplied spacer plate on the shift assembly.

12. Re-install everything in the reverse order it was removed and enjoy the ride!
