Monash University Foundation Year (commonly known as
MUFY) is a pre-university program that prepares international
students for entry to any Monash University degree.
Course structure
Foundation Year is offered in three formats Standard, Intensive and Extended. This fexibility enables
students to complete the program in the most appropriate time and to be grouped with other students
of similar academic and English language abilities.
To successfully complete the program all students must pass a minimum of eight units.
The unit combination must consist of:
Unit 1 and 2 of English
Unit 1 and 2 of at least two other subjects
AND two additional units

Accounting Accounting is the process of recording and reporting fnancial data that is analysed and communicated to internal
and external stakeholders. This subject focuses on sole proprietor trading businesses to help you develop a
foundation for the frst year of your undergraduate studies before following your pathway to a career in business
and fnance.
Advanced
Mathematics
If you are considering a university course with a high mathematical component, Advanced Mathematics will help
you prepare. Extend your knowledge through the study of complex numbers, matrices and linear algebra, vectors,
circular and inverse circular functions, differential calculus, differential equations, kinematics, and vector calculus.
Biology In Biology, explore the structure and function of cells, and the way in which humans regulate their body
temperatures and glucose levels. Discover more about genetically inherited traits, the evolution of life forms and

Chemistry Chemistry examines the structure, composition and properties of the Universe. Be introduced to physical, analytical,

Economics Economics is the study of choices that individuals, organisations and governments make in order to allocate
resources in an economy. Many undergraduate degrees require completion of economics units this subject will

English English develops your language skills, research skills, organisational and study skills in preparation for tertiary
education in Australia. Learn how to be a confdent speaker, and a competent listener, develop your critical and
creative analysis skills and become a profcient reader and writer of the English language.
Fundamental
Mathematics
Fundamental Mathematics helps you develop strong numeracy skills specifcally with a business focus. Learn
about: numbers and operations; ratio and proportion; algebra; sequences and series; business mathematics; non-
linear functions and applications; statistics and networks.
Geography In Geography, you will study natural and human environments, global and regional issues, and interactions that
shape and change our world. Develop your critical thinking, research, presentation and group work skills skills
directly transferable to your university studies in Australia that focus on collaborative learning.
Globalisation Globalisation helps you understand the economic, political and cultural links that connect the people and nations
of the world. Learn about how your country connects with the countries of your peers and develop skills in critical
thinking, research and writing, analysis, and group work to prepare you for university. A useful subject if you are

Information and
Communication
Technology
Become familiar with the components and uses for network-connected computers. Explore computer hardware,
software, operating systems and business applications such as word processors, spreadsheets and database
management systems. You will also learn about design, development and testing to assist with program
problem-solving.
Mathematics Mathematics is a prerequisite for most university courses. In this subject you will develop your mathematical
knowledge and practical skills of functions, graphs, calculus, sequences, series, probability and statistics, to
prepare you for your tertiary studies.
Music An ideal academic subject for high-achieving music students to count towards your fnal score. Receive individual
tuition on your chosen instrument (or voice) and learn a variety of repertoire. Look at the theory of music, improve
your aural skills, choral work, and learn about the history of music while developing your creative, intuitive side.
Physics Physics introduces you to the concepts, models and applications of classical mechanics, waves, electricity and
magnetism, and atomic and nuclear physics. Use Newtons Laws and the concepts of energy, momentum,

Monash College Diplomas are in two parts, Part 1 and Part 2 each lasts eight months

Diploma Part 1 is designed for students
