CAD/CAM

SUB: CAD/CAM COURSE OUTCOMES: 1. Describe the mathematical basis in the technique of representation of geometric entities including points, lines, and parametric curves, surfaces and solid, and the technique of transformation of geometric entities using transformation matrix 2. Describe key concepts in CNC machining and part programming, apply geometric operations for tool path generation and define key parameters for cutter location definition 3. Describe key neutral format specifications and standards for product data

4. Apply the knowledge in representation and transformation techniques to create programming codes that generate and transform geometric entities

5. Apply basic modeling operations to construct simple geometric model of engineering parts and to produce typical tool paths using a CAD/CAM software 6. Students must be able to design parts in a modern parametric CAD system for manufacture on a rapid prototyping machine and/or a CNC machining system. 7. Students must be able to : A] Use geometric dimensioning B] Tolerancing based on the ASME Y14.5M 1994 standard in design C] To generate proper engineering drawings. 8. Students must understand : A] Function CNC machining centers B] Capabilities CNC machining centers C] Limitations of modern CNC machining centers.
