What is I Matter?
I Matter is a day of interactive workshops that will get kids (and adults) inspired to make a difference. It will feature sessions with some of Edmonton's most inspirational leaders who will interact, engage and offer insight into how to make a difference in the community and on a global scale. Kids will have a choice of two workshops. Topics range from cyber-bullying, selfesteem, global citizenship, creative writing and more!

FEATURED SPEAKERS include Marty Chan, Leanne Power, Amy Coppens & Chris Tse. Our
afternoon will feature a panel of experts from Edmonton who will share stories of how they have made difference, overcome challenges in their lives and why they believe anyone at any age can make a difference. A complete list of presenters and registration will be available March 15.

A CELEBRATION OF OUR TOP 10 TEAM LEADERS will also be held to recognize the kids
who are nominated for this event. Every kid who attends the workshop will be presented with an I Matter certificate. A keepsake program featuring our Top 10 leaders and a list of all nominees will also be available at the event. What is the I Matter Team?

The I Matter Team is a group of kids who are recognized individually but together form a team of inspirational youth. Our Top 10 Team Leaders will be recognized at the event.

These kids care.

They are changing the world through their selfless efforts to help others, create awareness, and lead change in their communities. Every kid in attendance will receive a commemorative certificate.

Who Does this Target?

83,000 kids will be invited through the Edmonton Public School Board to participate in the I Matter Team Day and recognition forms are available for the I Matter Team Leaders online and in the Edmonton Examiner.

Our target workshop audience for this event is 250 kids with a keynote audience of 500 people

Workshops include sessions on cyber bullying, self-esteem, global citizenship, volunteerism, creating awareness, and more!

I Matter is about affirming to every person that they really DO matter and they DO make a difference. Its also about celebrating kids who have already taken steps to make the world a better place, and inspiring kids to take a stand for what they believe in. This event will bring unite parents, kids and people who want to be inspired!

How does it work?

Recognition forms will be available for kids ages 5-18. Forms, criteria and rules will be available online at YouAreFIERCE.com, and distributed through the Edmonton Public School Board to 83,000 students Information about the event will be provided through our media partners Hot 107, Lite 95 and the Edmonton Sun/Examiner. Students 12-18 will have the opportunity to attend the workshop portion of the event in the morning Students will be given a welcome package with an I Matter keepsake A parents lounge will be available with coffee and Wi-Fi The Keynote session will be open to the general public The I Matter Celebration will be held following the keynote speech

The I Matter Team Leaders will be recognized at the event on stage with a presentation of awards. Every nominee will receive an I Matter certificate recognizing their achievements

Students can choose two workshops to attend. We will have 10 presenters in total including topics on Cyber Bullying Awareness & Tactics, SelfEsteem: You Are Sooooo Beautiful, The Power of the Pen, When I Grow up I Wanna Be On the Radio & more!
