PRODJECT DESCRIPTION:
Currently a project in the works, the home of David and Rhonda Burke is an ongoing residential interior design project in the Columbus, Ohio area. This phase of the project addresses window treatments broken down into three components: a hard treatment, a soft treatment, and hardware. Two different choices, with two different price points, have been chosen for each step of the design process. The client has been able to see two different applications as well as keep his options open. The applications shown on this board are meant for windows in the master bedroom, sons room, living room, and dining room. There is also a solution needed for a large expanse which contains a sliding glass door. The two solutions shown include vertical blinds made from vinyl and a fabric sliding panel system.

This project was a learning experience in that much of the work was devoted to construction documents. A final construction doumentation, reflected ceiling plan, electrical plan, a finish plan & schedule, and a furniture plan & schedule were required for completion of the project. A combination of flurescent mounted light fixtures allow for general lighting throughout the entirety of the store. Wall sconces and and suspended light fixtures were then added to bring warmth into the space.

Seeing that the overall square footage of the Parrington Cabin is small, I wanted to create something very special for the master bedroom. All furniture decisions were chose to reflect that of a high-end designer feel. At the same time, these selections have many natural materials and colors that greatly appleaed to the clients and complimented the style of the cabin.. By chosing white and brown furniture choices, the furniture will appear to pop and be in contrast from the dark bamboo flooring, while at the same time keeping a matching flow to the room. Warm, recessed lighting has been chosen to illuminate this space.

The design of this bedroom was for a 10 year-old child. The design reflects one of bright colors, with plenty of interesting and fun accessories. Furniture, paint, and fabric choices are meant to age with the child to maxamize the clients purchases. The idea behind the yellow wall is to do saturations of yellow (going from bright yellow to creme) all the way up to the ceiling created an ombre effect. The first three feet of the walls have been painted a brown suede. The vaulted ceiling will display a cluster of spherical pendants above the childs bed creating interest and displaying the ceilings architectural details.

To remain consistent, the same fixtures have been chosen for the upper and lower bathrooms. This includes the vanities, toilets, and wallmounted storage bins. Flooring and wall color also remain consistent with both baths. In both baths task a light has been placed directly over the vanities while there is still a surface mounted ceiling light for plenty of sufficient general lighting A stained glass window has been chosen for the lower bathrooms window. Not only does this choice allow for privacy, but it adds character and coziness to the home.

PRODJECT DESCRIPTION: This prodject was designed in the Fall of 2010. It involved the use of Universal Design principles to address accessibility issues in a small residence. The client wanted the bathroom on the main floor of her home completely renovated for her 85 year-old mothers disabilities. The clients mother uses a wheelchair full time to assist her mobility. Areas of focus for the design included lighting for personal hygene tasks and knobs and handles used throughout the space. Looking into the future, the goal was for the client and her mother to be able to age-in-place and give them the ability to stay in their home.
