Attached is a document called 'Team Effectiveness Survey'. Consider a work group or team that you've been a part of recently.

If you were responsible for improving the effectiveness of this team, what would you do? The team that I am evaluating is Division of Grants and Contract Management (DOGCM) team where I am a staff member. The team is formed by four members, three staff and one leader. The Team Effectiveness Survey is an integral part of our organizations continuous improvement process. The insight gained provides guidance to my organization leader as it works continuously to improve effectiveness, and it assists leadership in sustaining mission and achieving vision of the future. Also, the survey provides leadership with an opportunity to regularly collect teams opinion regarding issues and opportunities influencing employment relationship with the organization. Also, it helps to identify where team's strengths and development areas lie in relation to how we work and function together. There were 4 respondents in the DOGCM division. The divisions overall mean rating was 3.50 which is a positive rating, and the key components of effectiveness team survey are discussed below. There were 4 questions under Share Mission and Goals with a mean rating of 4 which are considered area of strength. DOGCM team invests a tremendous amount of time and effort into discussing, shaping and agreeing on our purpose which becomes the direction and guidance under any and all conditions (Robbins 2013, p.320). The result shows that DOGCM team understands and is fully committed to the vision, mission, goals, and objectives of the team. The 4 questions under Climate and Trust section rated 2.5 which are below of 3 and are considered an opportunity for improvement. The result illustrates the need of investing in developing relationships and building credibility. DOGCM team needs to develop an action plan to address this issue. There were 4 questions under Clear Roles with a mean rating of 4 which are considered area of strength. Team members roles, responsibilities, expectations and authorities are well defined understood and accepted (Robbins 2013, p.316). Team work is fairly distributed and skills are well represented with team members' abilities recognized and fully utilized. Interdependence section rating of 4 shows that DOGCM team builds a sense of community in the workforce and spirit of team support. The result is synergy, which enhances and strengthens team success. That success not only includes the number of goals accomplished and productivity achieved but also happiness on the part of employees. Rating of 4 for Team Standard Operating Procedures is considered strength. DOGCM team implements and supports procedures to guide and regulate team functioning. Even though there is some disagreement sometimes, staff is comfortable with that and deals with it openly. Rating of 4 for Team Spirit and Motivation section is considered strength. DOGCM team has an environment of friendship. Team members feel like part of team, and they dont want to let others down. Assertive Leadership rating of 2.5 is a weakness. The comments made by respondents are that the team leader fails to show appreciation or give credit to its team members, lack of frankness and sincerity, and arbitrariness. Under General Team Feedback respondents included comments:

- DOGCM should continue to provide training, support departments and staff by managing the cornerstones of Pre-Award and Post-Award Administration. - DOGCM should stop to favor specific and provide the same services across the organization. - DOGCM should start to recommendations on better communication with other departments. For the two areas that rated 3 and below would be establish an action plan and set a timeframe to reconvene and review the progress. Meetings are part of the action plan to improve team's effectiveness, and these are critical for team development and task management. Also, one of the best ways of improving team's performance is providing information to team members about their individual performance, as well as the overall team performance. A positive and growthinspiring, delivered properly with enough attention being paid to how the staff is going to perceive and process it will help DOGCM to improve its overall performance.
