Physical Reactions When people become frightened, they turned white and we can express that in a number of ways: 1. I turned pale/waxen/ashen/pallid/grey/as white as a sheet. 2. The blood drained from my face.
Descriptions of Fear Other ways to express fear: My bowels turned to water. A wave of fear swept over me. My hairs stood on end. I was petrified. Icy fear raced through my veins. I shivered/trembled/quivered/quavered/shook uncontrollably.
Actions: But different people react differently to fear. Some people would choose to run away: I took to my heels at once. I turned and ran as fast as my legs could carry me.
