Prayer Lunch The Schraders: Missionaries to Zambia

Grace & peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus
This is the first of three status reports for the second semester of my first year of seminary. Classes began January 29. This semester I am taking Bible Studies Methods II, Prayer and Worship I, Hebrew II, Spiritual Formation II and Theology II. After looking at the syllabus for each class, I was so overwhelmed by the amount of reading and writing we have to do. As the semester has progressed, by His grace, somehow I am managing to keep up with the reading and the assignments. As you know in addition to being a full time student, I am also a full time employee. My class load is full and if it wasnt for the grace of God, I dont know how I would make it.

JUSTIFICATION IS NOT WHAT IS DONE IN US BUT WHAT IS DONE FOR US

FIRE ON THE
My classmates and I participated in a 50 ALTAR hour continuous prayer worship service called Fire on the Altar. The phrase comes from Leviticus 6:12-13 which says The fire on the altar must be kept burning; it must not go outFire shall be kept burning on the altar continually; it shall not go out. The meaning behind the verse signifies that fire was to be kept constantly burning upon the altar without going out, not in order that the heavenly fire might never be extinguished, but that the burnt-offering might never go out, because this was the divinely appointed symbol and visible sign of the uninterrupted worship of Jehovah, which the covenant nation could never suspend either day or night, without being unfaithful to its calling. As I worshipped the Lord, I felt His presence amongst the people.

Having sold their home and most of their possessions, The Schraders, are following God's glorious call to the fruitful field of Zambia.

Prayer Lunch with Ministry Leaders in West Houston

.In

February, The Bible Seminary hosted a prayer luncheon for the ministry leaders in the West Houston/Katy area. These ministry leaders, along with the board of directors and the congregation of Grace Fellowship United Methodist Church, prayed for the seminary and its students a year before the seminary came into existence. With the first semester under our belts, the leaders were invited back to a luncheon to hear about the progress of the seminary, meet the seminary students, and tour the campus facilities. The leaders were also informed to invite people they know who are interested in seminary to apply to The Bible Seminary. The leaders paired up with a seminary student or faculty member and together we prayed for Gods blessing over the seminary. Great food and fellowship!
Family outing: My daughter Aisha and grandsons Givyn, Davion and DeAndre

Two weeks ago, my coworkers told me about this wonderful woman that came into the post office and how they wished I had been there to meet her. She had seven children, they said, and was pregnant with baby number eight. She and her husband had just sold their house and her family was moving to Zambia to be missionaries. WOW! Esther left her card with their website on it. I couldnt wait to go on line to learn about this amazing family who gave up all their worldly possessions to go and do what scripture teaches us to do go and preach the Good News of Jesus! I learned that Johns dad pastored a local church in Katy. That following Sunday, I was in attendance to hear a Word from God and to meet the Schraders. This beautiful family has inspired and encouraged me more than they will ever know. One of the Schraders specific prayer request is that their children dont pick up the dangerous insects in Zambia. Can you keep this wonderful family before the Lord in your prayers?

I am having such an amazing time in my Theology class. Dr. Sullivan has this uncanny way of explaining terms that we think we know until he gives us this eloquent definition and suddenly the word and its application makes sense. One such word is righteousness. The righteousness of God is his justice and faithfulness. It is a status given by God to sinners who believe that Jesus is Gods Son, who died for our sins and rose from the dead and now sits at the right hand of the Father. It is and activity of God manifested in His saving action. God always acts according to the norm of His own person and promise to His glory. We are made righteous when we confess Jesus as our Lord and Savior. Hallelujah!!! Practical Issues in Ministry
One of the themes our professors stress to us is the practicality of what we are learning in class and how to apply it in ministry. In the book of Numbers, we are learning about the leadership qualities of Moses and Aaron and critiquing their styles. One of our classmates has had a very real and impetuous situation come up in her ministry, and we as an innovative seminary have discussed practical and appropriate ways to handle tensions that arise in our ministries and how to address them from a biblical standpoint. I am so thankful for the wisdom of our professors to have us apply what were learning in class now in our various ministries. I believe it will make me a better servant.

regarding student loans. We realize that conventional educational philosophy - and the rising cost of education - has evolved to include the expectation that students will take out loans as part of their educational journey. However, The Bible Seminary does not encourage this practice. Our preference is to do all we can to help our students and their families commit to, journey through, and attain their degrees without incurring financial Family outing at the Cheesecake Factory my son Ryan debt or undue financial obligations that would hinder their future ministry. If students desire to pursue loans for educational purposes, they may, but The Bible Seminary is not registered with the Federal Student loan program or any other governmental or business agency or entity offering these
