The main landmark of Caloocan City, the Bonifacio Monument is located at the intersection of Rizal Avenue and EDSA.

The monument commemorates the most proletarian of all Filipino heroes, Andres Bonifacio. The monument likewise marks the first encounter between Andres Bonifacio and his revolutionary group called Katipunan with the Spanish soldiers on August 3, 1896. The monument was immortalized by the great Filipino national artist Guillermo(Botong)Tolentino in 1933 together with Guillermo Masangkay, one of Bonifacio's generals adapting the facing of Bonifacio's Statue towards his birthplace in Tondo, Manila, which is situated on the south of Caloocan.

The Andrs Bonifacio monument with the 45foot pylon and figures cast in bronze is located in Caloocan City, Metro Manila at the intersections of Samson Road, McArthur Highway, Rizal Avenue and Epifanio de los Santos (EDSA) Highway. It is also the start of the line for the Light Railway Transit (LRT) that begins at the Monumento Station and leads all the way up to Baclaran Station in Pasay City. Bonifacio Day is a National Holiday in the Philippines and is celebrated on the 30th of November (his birth date). This "Monumento" was designed and completed in 1933 by the country's National Artist for the Visual Arts (Sculpture) in 1973, Guillermo Estrella Tolentino. It is his sculptural masterpiece portraying numerous figures around an obelisk that includes events leading up to the formation of the revolutionary group named "Kataastaasang Kagalang-galangang Katipunan ng mga Anak ng

Bayan" or Katipunan/KKK for short led by Andrs Bonifacio. The three steps leading to the monument represents the three centuries of Spanish rule (333 years), while the octagonal base with the 8 rays of the sun from the Philippine flag symbolizes the eight key provinces (as written on the surrounding pavement) where Martial Law was first declared by the Governor-General when the Katipunan held major uprisings there against the Spanish authorities - the very location of this monument actually depicting the place of the first such encounter by Andrs Bonifacio and the Katipunan with the Spanish colonial army on August 3, 1896.

The eight sides of the octagonal base represent the eight provinces which first rose against Spain, like the eight rays of the sun in the Katipunan flag. The three steps of the stairway at the sides represent the three centuries of Spanish rule. The water that serves as a mirror reflecting the monument stands for the water mentioned in Dr. Jose P. Rizals "El Filibusterismo," where he said that water is mild and can be drunk but that it dilutes the wine and beer, puts out the fire; heated it becomes steam, and ruffled, it is the ocean. Once it destroyed mankind and made the earth tremble to its foundation. The Group is History or Patriotic Song in sculpture the principal group headed by Andres Bonifacio with the inseparable Emilio Jacinto behind, in action (ALLEGRO CON FUOCO); the "mobilization" (ALLEGRETTO): The "Katipunan Initiation" and "Departure for the Battlefields" (ANDANTE); "Torture" (ADAGIO LAMENTOSO); and "Death" opposite the principal group (LARGO LUGUBRE). The obelisk is a composite of five parts representing the "K.K.K. ng mga A, ng B.," crowned on top by a WINGED VICTORY. The simplicity of architecture with the characteristic straight lines, symbolizes the simple, straight, and unfearing character of ANDRES BONIFACIO.
