The REACH Fundraising Campaign recognizes the positive impact that the Aquatic Centre will have on our community; it will help improve the quality of life for many Iqalummiut by providing a place to build community and maintain a healthy lifestyle. It will also ensure residents are not left without a pool and give children access to swimming and water safety programs. The Committee is raising funds through local fundraisers, donations and corporate sponsorship. The goal of the campaign is to raise $3 million that will go towards building the new Aquatic Centre. Corporate Sponsorship
REACH has corporate sponsorship opportunities that ensure your business receives recognition for your contribution. You can sponsor REACH at one of five levels: Gold, Silver, Bronze, Champion and Friend. Each level of sponsorship offers benefits to your organization and high-profile recognition. Your 5-year sponsorship of the Aquatic Centre through REACH will be a legacy for your organization to send a message that you care about our community. Sponsorship opportunities start at $5000. To find out how your business or organization can get involved please contact Jen Hayward, Corporate Sponsorship Chairperson jen@reachiqaluit.com.

Mayors Message

Messages from the Mayor and Director
It is with great pleasure that I introduce to you the programs, events and services available in Iqaluit by way of the 2013 Recreation Guide. Iqaluit is a unique Arctic capital city and our residents are very involved in the community organizations that make our City great. People of Iqaluit enjoy celebrating our community and culture which is reflected in the many events and community festivals that bring us together. The Recreation guide will connect you with opportunities for physical activity and ways to stay active. As a young city, we value events and activities; the City of Iqaluit has a host of recreational activities for visitors and residents to enjoy! The City of Iqaluit offers parks, playgrounds, two arenas, outdoor skating rinks, a softball field, outdoor basketball court, a curling rink, skateboard park, indoor sports field, youth centre, elders centre and a hall in Apex and offers programs for everyone to enjoy. I encourage you to use this guide to help you connect with others and get involved in our vibrant community. Sincerely, Mayor John Graham
Welcome to the 2013 Recreation Guide. The Recreation Department is pleased to present this guide to you once again this year. Last year, we installed artificial turf in the Arctic Winter Games arena and introduced the community to the Arctic Winter Games Indoor Sports Field, providing a venue for many new sport and recreational activities including soccer, lacrosse, ultimate Frisbee, football and more! The result was an increase in sports and recreational activities in our City. These programs were extremely successful and well received by the public. We look forward to the continued development of these sports again this year. Last year was also a significant year for us as the planning for the Aquatic Centre wrapped up, a referendum was held to ask the ratepayers of Iqaluit to allow the City to borrow the funds for a much-needed new Aquatic Centre. The result was a yes vote. The City of Iqaluit is now moving ahead with the project and is committed to keeping the residents and especially you, the recreational users of Iqaluit, involved and informed. In order to stay connected with Recreation happenings in Iqaluit throughout the year, consider subscribing to our monthly e-newsletter (email recreation@city.iqaluit.nu.ca and request that your email be added to the mailing list), finding us on Facebook (www.facebook.com/cityofiqaluitrecreation) or visiting the City of Iqaluit webpage.
