Young Leadership Coordinator

Job Description Job Purpose


To take the lead in developing and implementing CAFODs work with 11-26 year olds as leaders and influencers in their own right, inspiring their peers as well as those older and younger than they are to work for global justice with CAFOD.

Job Scope
The post holder will work within the Education Section, particularly with the Youth Outreach Coordinator, Youth Resources Coordinator, Education Volunteer Coordinator, the Monitoring and Support Coordinator Officer, the Children and Young Peoples Fundraising Coordinator, staff working on the year out scheme for 18-30 year olds and CAFOD Regional Offices.

Accountability
The post holder is line managed by the Youth Programme Team Leader.

Key Responsibilities
Develop strategy for promoting and supporting young people as leaders amongst 11-18 year olds alongside other members of staff. Act as key point of contact and support for CAFOD staff, volunteers and youth leaders, school chaplains and teachers who are working with CAFOD young leaders; advising on how to inspire young people and develop their skills, confidence and knowledge to act for justice. Occasional work with young leaders (predominantly 11-18, some 18-26 years old) directly, up skilling them in young leadership. Devise and deliver training and resourcing for youth leaders, school chaplains, teachers on young leadership and CAFOD. Work alongside colleagues and CAFOD volunteers to: Set targets and outcomes for young people as leaders with CAFOD; helping to interpret and communicate what can be achieved in the light of our practice. Devise and deliver training and resourcing for CAFOD volunteers across England and Wales who work with youth leaders, school chaplains, teachers on young leadership. Lead on resource production to support young leaders. Lead on events to support young leadership, e.g. residential events for young leaders to come together, learn and inspire one another, and ensuring that wherever possible, young people are invited to participate and are represented in initiatives and events which involve influencers and leaders more generally at CAFOD. Develop and resource the strategy for CAFOD Action Groups (groups of young people working with CAFOD in their local school, parish or community). As a member of the Youth Team Administrate the activities involved in the role including budget tracking, invoices, correspondence, internal communication, logistics planning and electronic filing. Actively support the work of all other aspects of the Youth Programme and assist with the Youth Teams broader programme development and that of the Education Section.

Terms and Conditions

Contract

A permanent contract, including a six-month probationary period.

Salary

Grade P: 31,657 per annum with 7 annual increments of 619, up to 35,990.

Hours

35 hours per week. Normal CAFOD office hours are 9.30 to 5.30 with one hour for lunch. This post will require some weekend and evening work for which time off in lieu may be taken.

Holidays

20 working days per annum plus statutory holidays plus 6 days determined by CAFOD at Christmas/Easter.

Notice period

Three months either way after completion of the probationary period.

Pensions

There is an optional contributory pension scheme (10% employer and 5% employee contribution). Alternatively, CAFOD will make a similar contribution to a Personal Pension Plan.

The purpose of the Communities & Supporters Division is to engage Catholic communities across England and Wales with CAFODs work. It is made up of the following Sections: Regions and Wales, Theology, Education (encompassing schools and youth teams and with responsibility fund), Services for the & and development Marketing, education Supporter Fundraising

Youth Team Programme


The Youth Programmes key task is to equip those working with young people in informal settings with the knowledge, skills and confidence that will enable them to motivate the young people they work with to: Reflect on poverty and its causes Develop their own local and global justice perspective Understand that tackling poverty and working for justice is central to faith Become actively involved in working for change with CAFOD

Communications and Creative. The Division gives priority to the generation of voluntary income, providing corporate leadership in this area, as well as developing that and delivering education and programmes transform communities
