PRODUCT INFORMATION MURINE CLEAR EYES COMPOSITION Active. Naphazoline hydrochloride Inactive.

Hypromellose, boric acid, borax, purified water, may contain hydrochloric acid or sodium hydroxide, benzalkonium chloride and disodium edetate as preservatives. DESCRIPTION Formulated to more closely match the natural fluid of the eye. The combination of boric acid and borax provides a moderate buffer capacity which maintains a similar pH to that of tears so that no irritation to the eye will occur. ACTIONS Naphazoline hydrochloride is a sympathomimetic amine. It has demonstrated vasoconstrictive and decongestive activity and produces the following secondary responses: reduction of photophobia, tearing, itching and burning sensations. Clear Eyes is a lubricating, decongestant ophthalmic solution. INDICATIONS For the temporary relief of redness and drying due to minor eye irritation caused by dust, smoke, smog, sun glare, wearing contact lenses or swimming. CONTRAINDICATIONS Known hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients and excipients in this formulation. Narrow angle glaucoma or anatomically narrow occludable angle glaucoma. This product should not be used prior to peripheral iridectomy in eyes capable of angle closure because mydriatic action may precipitate angle block. PRECAUTIONS Do not use while contact lenses are in place. To avoid contamination, do not touch tip of the container to any surface. Replace cap after using. If you experience eye pain, changes in vision, continued redness or irritation of the eye, or if the condition worsens or persists for more than 72 hours, discontinue use and consult a doctor.

Patients with glaucoma should not use this product except under the advice and supervision of a doctor. If the solution changes colour or becomes cloudy, do not use. Keep this product and all drugs out of the reach of children. Discontinue use prior to the use of anaesthetics which sensitise the myocardium to sympathomimetics (e.g. cyclopropane, halothane). Special risk patients. Use with caution in the presence of hypertension, diabetes, hyperthyroidism, cardiovascular abnormalities, and arteriosclerosis. Narrow angle glaucoma. Ordinarily, any mydriatic is contraindicted in patients with glaucoma. However, when temporary pupil dilation may free adhesions, or when vasoconstriction of intrinsic velles may lower intraocular tension, these advantages may temporarily outweigh danger from coincident pupil dilation. DIRECTIONS FOR USE Instill one or two drops into the affected eye(s) up to four times/day.
