Optimize all your level applications with reliable Rosemount instrumentation. Our extensive portfolio, backed by over 50 years of experience in the process industries, ensures we deliver the right technology for your level application. Our ongoing investment in leading level and instrument technologies will keep you and your plant a step ahead.
2008
Over the years we have invested in emerging technologies as well as established and widely used ones. Emersons level devices are based on six different technologies: differential pressure, noncontacting radar, guided wave radar and ultrasonic; with vibrating fork and electromechanical for point level. Regardless of which technology is right for your application, you can rest assured that each product is designed to help you get the most out of your process.
Electromechanical
Side mount Appropriate for steam/water interface gauging, condensate detection, turbine water induction protection High reliability steam drum level Fault tolerant operation
Rosemount devices are specified more often than any other brand of process instrumentation. The result is a portfolio that handles virtually any level application: high or low temperatures, aggressive environments, high pressures, hazardous areas, or the simplest level switching requirement. For more detailed level selection information, please see our fold out guide at the back of this brochure. Point Level Detection
Flexible mounting Appropriate for high and low alarms, overfill protection, pump control including those with wide pressure and temperature requirements, including hygienic Suitable for most liquids Immune to changing process conditions
Ultrasonic
Top mount Non-contacting Appropriate for simple tank levels and open air level Unaffected by fluid properties such as: density, viscosity, dirty coating, corrosiveness
NonContacting Radar
Top mount Appropriate for liquid or solid tank levels including those with wide temperature and pressure requirements Unaffected by fluid properties such as: density, viscosity, dirty coating, corrosiveness, vapors Can be isolated by valves

Rosemount DP Level products are unsurpassed in breadth, capability and performance. Whether it be through an integrated level transmitter or remote seal systems, you can find a solution to meet your needs. DP level products are more reliable and easier to use than ever before while meeting the toughest measurement challenges. Hydrostatic level transmitters are designed for vented or atmospheric vessels. They are submersible or can be direct mounted, with a flush ceramic diaphragm for many applications from service tanks to remote reservoirs.

Rosemount NonContacting Radar Continuous Level Transmitters leverage over 35 years experience in advanced radar level measurement, resulting in an installed base exceeding 200,000 units worldwide. With immunity to changing process conditions such as density, vapors, and turbulence, as well as pressure and temperature changes, they are designed for highest reliability and performance. This makes non-contacting radar the best choice for precise monitoring and control. Providing easy top-down installation and commissioning together with trouble-free operation ensures peace of mind.

Solids measurement
The Rosemount 5600 measures low dielectric solids with a measuring range capability as much as 160 ft. (50 m). Applications include powders and granules such as lime, cement, fly ash, corn, metals, ore and many more.
Rosemount Guided Wave Radar (GWR) products are unsurpassed in capability and performance. They are designed to cut costs and increase safety by providing reliable measurement. Our GWR level products are easy to use and meet the toughest measurement challenges. They are easy to install into existing openings, virtually unaffected by process conditions. Guided wave radar has no moving parts and requires no calibration, which minimizes maintenance requirements.
Easy start-up
User-friendly configuration and diagnostic tools with echo curve for easy setup and trouble-shooting
Bracket mount
Demanding environments
Rosemount guided wave radar is unaffected by density changes, making it a reliable and low maintenance alternative to displacer technologies. Applications include distillation columns, feed-water tanks, liquified gases.
Solids measurement
The Rosemount 5303 measures solids with dielectric constants as low as 1.4. The measuring range is up to 160 ft. (50 m). Applications include powders and granules, silicon, plastic pellets, cement, fly ash, corn and many more.
Rosemount ultrasonic transmitters are a costeffective choice for non-contacting continuous level measurement in a wide range of routine applications from inventory monitoring to process control. For suspended solids measurement, sludge blanket monitoring and open channel flow, our market-leading water and effluent treatment instrumentation satisfies the need to ensure the environmental compliance and efficient operation of your plant.

Rosemount vibrating fork technology offers a simple, lightweight, compact solution. Its unique design can handle a wide range of level, level detection and control applications, from simple overfill duties to critical alarm functions in the petrochemical and process industries. Our range of globally approved and proven level switches for liquids provide reliable alarm and control duties in all types of point level detection applications.
Overfill protection
Spillage caused by overfilling can be hazardous to the environment and people, resulting in lost product and incurring costs of clean up operations. The Rosemount 2120 is a dependable limit level switch with built-in heartbeat LED to reassure you that it is always ready to detect and signal overfill at any time. The 2120 is also ideal as a low level trip to detect empty tanks and prevent pump damage.
Superior diagnostics
Built-in diagnostics continuously check electronic and mechanical health Ideal for critical alarm duties
Hygienic applications
With the option of highly polished forks providing a surface finish (Ra) better than 0.8m, the Rosemount 2100 series meets the principle design criteria of the most stringent hygienic requirements used in food and beverage and pharmaceutical applications. Manufactured in stainless steel, the Rosemount 2100 series is robust enough to withstand steam cleaning (CIP).
Failure to detect low water levels in steamraising plants can have costly and potentially disastrous consequences. Reliable water level detection and monitoring is essential to protect plant and personnel. The Hydrastep water and steam monitoring system provides highly visible local and remote drum level indication and alarm with exceptional levels of reliability.
The Rosemount Tank Gauging system is the industry leader in bulk liquid storage management. Major oil companies around the world use it to improve the efficiency, safety, and profitability of refineries, tank farms and terminals. The main benefits include proven reliability, multicertified accuracy and minimal maintenance.
Just plug-and-gauge
The TankRadar Rex gauge is designed with an open interface, covering everything from electrical interface and communication protocol to utilization of many different power sources. This feature enables you to replace old mechanical or servo gauges with modern Rex gauges, without having to replace the control system or field cabling. Simply connect the Rex to your existing system and youre operational.

With all the technologies, products, and parameters to consider, selecting the best technology for level measurement can be difficult. Emerson Process Management is aware of this challenge and has developed a selection guide to help you choose the right product for your level application. By using this guide you can rest assured that you have chosen the correct technology, product, and that you have Rosemount quality working in your plant to reduce overall risk and project cost.
TECHNOLOGIES
The Rosemount level product offering includes: Differential Pressure (DP), Guided Wave Radar (GWR), Non-Contacting Radar, Ultrasonic, and Level switches using vibrating fork technology. Each of these technologies has advantages depending on application.
Application Considerations
Conditions within a vessel are an important factor when choosing a level technology. A measurement device must handle all pressure, temperature, and process conditions. Turbulence, foam, fluid chemical properties, and vapor can impact measurement and need to be considered. Some of the more common application conditions include: 1) Vapor 2) Foam 3) Turbulence 4) Change in Dielectric / Density 5) Surface Turbulence
Installation Considerations
Matching a technology to vessel configuration is key for successful installation. Connection sizes, types, and locations impact this choice. The need for device isolation, mechanical structures, and material flows can rule out some technologies. Installation considerations are: A Bypass Connection B Valve C Top Mount; position, length and nozzle diameter D Side Mount; position, length and nozzle diameter E Fluid Flow into Vessel F Obstructions and Agitators
