First Ever ISM Exhibition Retreat

Exhibition Central Idea:
As global citizens, we have a personal responsibility to take care of the Earth and its inhabitants.
Writte n by P6 + Chelse a

Vroommm, thats the sound of the ISMAC bus going to the 1st ever Exhibition retreat! During the retreat we got a better idea of Exhibition. We learned the Exhibition Cycle which involves 4 stages (planning, research, creating, presenting). Ms. Chelsea explained what a central idea is and once we agreed on our central idea for the year we all shouted, YES! (Except Elias who shouted, No!). Before break Aisling led us in a game that helped us

think about teamwork and communication. Ms. Maree showed us a cycle of inquiry. At lunch Chelsea ordered pizzas and Jay and Elias had a competition. Jay won, only because of a limit says Elias. At the end of the day we had to sign a contract that says that we will stick to the Learner Profiles throughout Exhibition and we will help others. Meetings
This week during our mentor, teacher and parent meetings we talked about our issue. We talked about how our mentors, parents and Chelsea could help us. They asked us a lot of questions to get a better understanding of what we would like to do in our Exhibition. During our Create meetings we felt nervous because assessment the adults kept on asking us rubric + assess questions. We look forward to the M3 Science Fair next meeting to get more advice. -Written by, Eleanor + Sholto

Our final decisions

Its Exhibition!! I am so happy! we all shouted. This week one of our targets was to pick an interesting issue. Although we decided this week what well do for Exhibition, weve unknowingly been preparing throughout the whole school year (and our lives) for choosing an issue were very interested in for Exhibition. We made mind maps and concepts maps to help us tune into our issue. These mind maps helped us get a better understanding of our issue by thinking of key words, who could help us learn more, and questions we have. Before we met with our mentors we brainstormed some of the issues we wanted to do. Most of us knew what our issue could be before we met our mentors, parents and Chelsea but, our mentors helped us decide what we would actually do. The issues P6 students have chosen are: - Effects of poaching on life in Tanzania - Access to clean water - Endangered animals in Tanzania - Poaching affects communities in a variety of ways - Access to resources affect the stability of a community - Human and wildlife conflict in Tanzania/Kenya - Effects of overfishing on dolphins - Anti-poaching - Crime - Racism - Rights of a child + child labor

During my mentor meeting I helped - Access to resources affect the stability of a community Eleanor survive because On the first ever exhibition retreat our class helped put together a central Mr. OBoyle had so idea. The central idea turned out to be, As global citizens, we have a -Written by, Ghaidaa + Alfie personal responsibility to take care of the Earth and all its inhabitants. many hard questions for This is extremely helpful because Ms. Chelsea showed us how to do it her. I helped answer and now it will be easier to write our own central ideas. Next week well questions even (though) share our individual central ideas. its not my project Written by, Milos, Jan-Talek + Otis because with Exhibition you have to help each other! Elias
